one-armed dwarf Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Only sort of half watched it but the bits I saw looked good, but also blended together. There was one game in there where I couldn't tell if it was being DMC or Souls, where you were launching things up in the air with icicles and shit. In general I'm sort of in the don't really care about a lot of it camp but hard to agree it was bad necessarily, but I think I'm sort of aged out of a lot of the things that these shows have to show now anyway, if it's not an IP I've already gotten a preexisting fondness for like Onimusha. It's what it is I guess
mfnick Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Very meh. A few small highlights though. Sonic racing looks like they might be going the All Stars Transformed route and the portal stuff is cool! Fuck yes. Shinobi game looks awesome! Going against Ragebound now though. Hope it can hang. Onimusha gameplay. Yep, can’t wait. Tales of Annihilation gave me some classic God of War vibes. Especially when platforming on that giant enemy thing. Very interested. Dreams on Another - Classic Sony weird game. Miss these. Not sure I’ll like it but it’s interesting and visually incredible. Couple of things we already knew about but good to see are coming fairly soon - Midnight Walk and Minds Eye are intriguing.
Snaggletooth Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Mixed bag, As above, Shinobi / Onimusha titles look great. and that flame head clay mation game could be good. Great too see a lot of new IP's, But does seem like so many of them all follow same gameplay / visual theme. Dark, Shooty, Souls or rouge like. Really some more creativity would have been nice. but cant be too critical, felt like they showed quite a lot in general.
spatular Posted February 13 Posted February 13 hopefully the last one is basically returnal 2, so that should be good. liked the look of a few of the others too but they sort of merged together in my head and can't remember the names. had a look at a list to try and remind me - oh yeah the octopus one, and monster hunter looks cool, but not played rise yet.
Maryokutai Posted February 13 Posted February 13 That live service initiative really screwed them over. Not a good look if you show up in your own presentation with a remaster and a double-A title that still will have taken five years to make by the time it comes out. They've become extremely inefficient. I really liked spatular's comment that we're at a point now where it's more likely to see Halo on a Playstation than WipeOut. As for the show, the most interesting games for me we already knew about (Shinobi, Sonic Racing, Onimusha, The Midnight Walk, Lost Records), but it was nice to see some new footage. Supermassive doing what is basically Alien is rather cool, but I just don't like their games too much. Most of the rest wasn't really for me though, and I think Housemarque's title in particular looks disappointingly generic. As did that new IP action game that couldn't decide whether it wanted to copy Bayonetta or just be inspired by it. Edit: oh, completely forgot about the new Digimon Story, that looked really nice.
DANGERMAN Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I enjoyed the State of Play. I agree about the lack of a punch for the final game, it felt like it was missing a 'one more thing' There were plenty of games I thought looked interesting. Shinobi, Hell Is Us, Supermassive's space game, the claymation game, that Warriors rogue like could be genius
Maf Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I missed everything and have no idea. I watched the Sonic R trailer which looks awesome. And just saw Saros which, being a cinematic trailer with no gameplay is kind of lame, but seems very clear this is Returnal 2. I still think Housemarque are top 2 Sony studio so even though a cinematic trailer is lame, it has their name on it so I’m still very in to it
Metroid66 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 It was a rough watch for me, souls, rogues and big boss fights DMC style. All looking good too, though not great, funnily enough. Just not games I'm interested in.
mfnick Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Not news, more of a PSA but best place for it IMO. Check your PlayStation stars people! I’ve never looked at them before but just found I had enough built up for £95 worth of credit! Can’t believe it. You can swap them for full games as well if you want. It seems relatively generous for one of these loyalty scheme things. Never got anything like this back from MS or Nintendo. Even when I was buying everything on Xbox I only ever got a fiver back. Monthly “play x game for more points” bonuses too.
mfnick Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Basically a cash back on anything you spend and you can get extra for playing certain games or even redeeming the PS+ stuff. I found it in the app. There’s a number next to your name (mine was 4). Press that and then press the rewards button. Scroll to the bottom and you can swap for games or £5 credits. Pics to help.
Nag Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Think I've managed about 25 quid out of this which is cool... in regards MS points I just save up for free months of Game Pass which is around 1 month every three or four so that adds up too.
retroed Posted April 13 Posted April 13 PS5 Digital RRP is increasing to £429.99 from today, while the disc drive add-on is decreasing to £69.99. https://blog.playstation.com/2025/04/13/ps5-price-to-rise-in-europe-australia-and-new-zealand-2/
Craymen Edge Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Isn't that the second time in a row prices have gone up elsewhere but not US?
mfnick Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Everything’s fucked. I guess they’ve got to hope the tariff situation becomes more concrete (which will not happen with him there) before they can set a new US price otherwise they may set it too low & fuck themselves. Until then the rest of us mugs have to cover the slack for them.
mmmark Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I did well going digital when I did. Must admit I haven’t turned it on for months but I do have kingdom come 2 to play sometime.
one-armed dwarf Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I'd guess cause physical will be phased out, which is also why I think the disc drives got discounted Like, buy them now or never sort of thing
Nag Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Yeah, could be... I did actually think once I'd posted is the disc version even still available. Wish I'd gone digital when I bought one... it's probably well over three years since I've used a disc in the thing.
