Took the plunge on this and managed about 40 minutes before I was called away. Looks good, feels good, and I'm quite excited to get going on it. I've enjoyed all the AC RPGs, with multiple plays on origins. And with the consensus (not withstanding the usual click crazy shit stirrers on YouTube - who I'm getting a bit fed up with tbh), being that this is every bit as good, if not better, than the other 3, I think I'm in for a fine ride.

Yeah, I got wise to this late last year. Plus pc gaming allows you reconstruct your library of games that consoles have retired due to generational shifts for peanuts - or, if you have prime gaming, for nothing.

45 quid. And people seem to love it. I'm tempted.

I think Bethesda are a pale imitation on Bethesda judging by their last offering. I think Avowed and Outer Worlds were both better than that weak kneed spacey bollocks.

Yeah, on reading your posts I've been wondering how you've been pulling those kinds of hours. I was a bit surprised I reached level 29 as I read some reviews saying they completed the entire game (all quests) at level 27.

7/1/25 Sleeping Dogs, PC 12/1/25 Shadow of the tomb raider, PC 30/1/25 Assassin's creed Blackflag, PC 17/3/25 Avowed, PC Good, not great.

Done! Got a good 40 hours out of it and reached level 29 - doing pretty much every quest and bounty I came across. So not the longest western RPG, and yet about twice the length of their last effort, Outer Worlds. Mixed feelings, really. On the plus side I really enjoyed playing it - questing, fighting, crafting, upgrading my gear, looting etc. Exploration wasn't bad either, not Fallout quality, but not bad. I really didn't enjoy 'listening' to it. So many drawn out conversations, characters just talking and talking long after the point had been made, and you given response options that I felt a bit 'outside' of my actions in the field, so a touch of the old ludo narrative dissonance too. And then I had to make choices which I didn't feel qualified to make. I wasn't invested enough to make them, and so just chose the first one. Which had the effect of pushing me even further away from the narrative. Give me a silent protagonist any time, or one whose character and motivations are just written by the devs. So good but not great for me. For a sword and sorcery adventure I much preferred the last Final fantasy tbh. You know I even thought Greedfall was better and more coherent experience.

I'm in that area. Have one bounty left I think, and I've been cruising since changing over to a 'superb' mace/shield and rifle combo. My mace is a bastard of a weapon. Charge that sucker up and you actually feel sorry for your enemy when it connects - unless said enemy is a mushroom. They can feck off.

I've been questing and claiming bounties in a zone seemingly the province of this world's 'Dwarf' race. It's tough out there I can tell you, but I'm strong enough that I feel I'm not in imminent danger of death any more - just a severe bruising, now and then. I think I'm about level 24, about 40 hours in and still digging it - although the padded conversations are not really adding to my pleasure, I don't mind saying. You always get 4 options to reply to someone talking to you, and as far as I know there's no paragon type system in place (maybe there is) so I just want them to say what they have to say and then feck off. I just wish there was a code of some kind which tells you what option will end the conversation the quickest.

Doing the classics. Done Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering heights, Jeckle and Hyde - and I'm 100 pages into Rebecca, since I started - with the latter being the first book I've read in 'book form' (not kindle) in years. And yes, I've tapped the edge of the page to turn over more than once🥺

Because of ray tracing? I think you're letting yourself off lightly using the term shallow. 'Nutty as a fruit cake with extra nuts' is the expression I believe you're looking for.😀. Don't forget it has a sterling FPS mode. It's brilliant played like that.

i-ninja, which I greatly enjoyed playing with my kids when they were little. Now they're all hairy arsed 20 odd year olds the sequel should be an ultra realistic stealth, death dealing, blood fest.

Prime gaming for mafia 2 on Gog for free. I'm building up quite the collection on Gog from prime. Edit, wrong thread. I thought that went into the 'for free' thread. -

Ooh, I wish you'd spoilered that last bit!
