If a game was ported onto a new platform in 2023, it released in 2023 and is therefore eligible. These titles are therefore Ineligible for 'games not from 2023 discovered in 2023' selection but folks are welcome to put in their own honourable mentions below their main selections if they want to include them in some way but don't feel comfortable picking them in their main GOTY selections. DisturbedSwan Posted September 1, 2023 Author Share Posted September 1, 2023 Games that released in 2023 are fine to be picked for 2023 GOTY selection, so FIST and Stray are both eligible. if you don't want to put them in your main GOTY list then that's fine but votes won't be counted in other categories. I know some folks disagreed with this last year but it's the simplest way to do things. Realistically, Stray, FIST et al. aren't going to win GOTY or even come in the top 3 so don't worry about that. If you don't feel comfortable doing that then maybe an honourable mentions section below your main selections would do the trick or something. To be fair, having played 30 hours of Tears of the Kingdom and 50 hours of BG3, if I felt there was a clear gap between them I would rank them, but I love what I played of both so I have to wait until I’m finished. Also, I loved vanilla Cyberpunk (at least the version I played, 1.2 I think) so Phantom Liberty could easily be my game of the year.
