The game isn't awful, it has some cool stuff in it and its parkour system is innovative once you figure it out. But lots of boring stuff as well

Usually not the kind of game I would play, regardless of quality. But considering it was Volition's last game and presumably in itself also the reason for being just that, I just wanted to take a look at what went wrong.

 

They're basically giving away these relatively cool special editions as well, I think this was around 15€.

Couple of pick ups this week (plus a couple of Steam games) 

 

 

The game is Tengai Makyou Dai Shi no Mokuijiroku: The Apocalypse IV. 

 

It's a Jrpg and I bought it because the combat system looks amazing. It's canned animation, a bit like Dragons Lair, so it looks like an anime. Also it's all quite twee looking, except the cover is giant crucifix surrounded by a murder of crows. Then the booklet is maybe even more badass and looks like this

Evil West is a decent AA game... it's better than Final Fantasy XVI side quests at any rate.😂

£20 for FFXVI is a great deal, I wanted to give Evil West a go but the reviews put be off it really, I think I'd have to go a little lower than £20 to be tempted with that.

 

Said this in the thread, but FFXVI side quests weren't bad for me, I don't get the furore but yeah, we'll see how you get on with them and FFXVI in general. I have a feeling you're going to come down on the negative side of the fence with it but we'll see it I guess.

The quests are about the same level of quality as FFXIV's. It's odd to me tbh that you don't see the issue people have with XVI's quests cause I'm pretty sure you said before it's why you dropped XIV.

 

They follow the same formula to a tee, even down to the way cutscenes are animated and scripted. Probably uses the exact same scripting and content creation tools

 

There's good in the game tho as well but it's a tough game to love. Needs a fast forward button like those remasters do (FFVII and XII)

I don't even remember much of what I played of FFXIV really, it was donkeys years ago now, I certainly don't remember the side quests.

 

I think FF16 is an easy game to love ❤️

yeah great deal on ff, would have got that if i'd seen it.

 

i could probably do with saving money by not re-buying as much stuff i already own digitally like all of these, except air twister which unfortunately seems rubbish (although space harrier fans might like it).

Forspoken was cheap, £10 but then some Amazon credit meant it was more like £6.

 

The Japanese Game Gear game was also pretty cheap, especially compared to other sellers, and it's called Magical Taruruto Taruruuto Taruruta Kun. It's a port of a Mega Drive shoot em up
