Popular Post DANGERMAN Posted August 12, 2023 Popular Post Share Posted August 12, 2023 Couple of new Dreamcast games Flea I think was originally a new indie NES game that got a Dreamcast port. Its been out for a couple of years but I never picked it up because I tend not to go for rock hard platformers, but Wave Game Studios (the store that sells it) sent me a 50% off voucher and its pretty much the only game they sell I don't have Driving Strikers is an actual new release, came out this week. Its a car football game like Rocket League. They've done a ton of work to make the most of the Dreamcast, including stuff that uses the VMU, VGA support, and as you can see online play. Apparently with the standard Dreamcast modem too, not just the broadband adaptor (the easiest way is to download the included rom and emulate I think). I don't have the phone line wire, so I'm not sure if I could still get online on the Dreamcast or not. One of them is one of those dodgy multi game in 1 things from ebay for the Mega Drive. I've not tried it yet, might do over the weekend but I'm in no rush The other one is more interesting. It's a multi cart for the Saturn. These have existed since the Saturn was a current console, I've got an Action Replay one that let's you move your saves to it, use cheats, allows you to play import games, and acts as a 1mb and 4mb ram expansion for the Capcom and SNK fighters. The reason this one is different is because it has a special new feature, it let's you boot CDR games (pirated games) So, does it work? Well, here's what it looks like booting up Here it is playing a genuine PAL disc (D) And here it is playing a Japanese CDR on a Japanese console The question though, can it run a PAL region CDR? one-armed dwarf Posted August 14, 2023 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Was looking at one of those, or one of those things where you can put a SSD inside a saturn and play like that I don't even have a Saturn, but want to get one to play the game in that spoiler. I’ve toyed with getting one of those Fenrir Saturns but there’s all sorts of import game issues and it needs a CRT otherwise you get all sorts of display issues. I just can’t justify it. But damn! DANGERMAN Posted August 14, 2023 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Well this cart was less than £30 so it's a pretty cheap way in so long as you have the means to write cds still. And you can still pick up cheap import games, the thing I didn't check was the storage, I will do next time I boot it up. I should say, I'm playing through a HDMI convertor I got during lockdown. I'm sure the experts could spot issues with it, but it's been pretty good for my standards I do also want that SSD that goes in the VCD slot, but it's an expensive thing to not use that much.
