mfnick
I’ve just watched Prey too. I dunno. Found it very boring for the most part. Got better towards the end but the first hour or so (at least) just bored the tits off me. 6/10 for me.
mmmark
Watched Prey and what a disappointment. It’s ok. But not great unless comparing it to the last awful outing. 7/10 would be pushing it.
mmmark
This looks good. Not enough people watch shudder movies. They’re knocking it out of the park the past couple of years.
DANGERMAN
I thought Prey was pretty good. Likable cast, decent set up, and well paced. I suppose the problem is it's a very well trodden take, which is largely a worry because if you're going to try to follow this you'd stick to the same formular rather than try to reinvent the wheel, and this formula is basically the first film and Predators
DisturbedSwan
Watched Prey last night and thought it was phenomenal! Probably the best Predator film ever, definitely on par with the OG at the very least. Loved pretty much every bit of it and there isn't really anything I could fault. Very much felt it was in the same vein as the OG Alien with a fantastic protagonist you can really empathise with and get behind, a slow but suspenseful build-up followed by the Predator being unleashed with lots of really cool kills on some French colonisers about half-way through. The ending was super satisfying and clever as well, honestly, what a film!
mmmark
It doesn’t have the same mystery or shock as the OG because you didn’t know what to expect the first time round. This one comes after many movies but still tries to tease one of the most well known sci fi characters to the audience. I did like it honest 😅 and it has a tease in the credits that there’s more to come.
OCH
If there were no sequel (now one is quite likely, given the reception) the credits teaser could also be a callback to Predator 2's ending.

OCH
Cineworld Preparing To File For Bankruptcy Quote Cineworld, the globe’s second-largest exhibitor and owner of Regal Cinemas, is preparing to file for bankruptcy within weeks, according to reports in The Wall Street Journal. The London-based company has engaged lawyers from Kirkland & Ellis LLP and consultants from AlixPartners to advise on the bankruptcy process, the publication reported. Cineworld, which operates 751 sites in 10 countries including the boutique Picturehouse chain in the UK, is expected to file a Chapter 11 petition in the United States and is considering filing for insolvency in the UK, the report said. Cineworld’s share price dropped more than 50% on news of the potential bankruptcy. The news comes days after the company said it was in “active discussions with various stakeholders and is evaluating various strategic options to both obtain additional liquidity and potentially restructure its balance sheet through a comprehensive deleveraging transaction.” The company cited lower-than-expected admission rates due to a lack of blockbuster films for the slump in business. “Despite a gradual recovery of demand since re-opening in April 2021, recent admission levels have been below expectations,” the company said. “These lower levels of admissions are due to a limited film slate that is anticipated to continue until November 2022 and are expected to negatively impact trading and the Group’s liquidity position in the near term.” Responding to reports, Philippa Childs, Head of BECTU, said: “This is very worrying news, not least for the UK’s Cineworld and Picturehouse workforce who have already been through a tumultuous time during the pandemic. The UK’s cinema industry suffered an incredible blow due to Covid-19 and this latest news will be very unsettling for cinema workers. The statement continued: “We will do everything we can to support our members during this challenging time and will be looking to Cineworld to mitigate the impact of any bankruptcy arrangements on its employees.” Exhibition has been one of the hardest hit sectors of the industry as COVID forced closures of cinemas across an agonizingly volatile and lengthy period for bosses, workers and audiences. Cineworld is not alone in assessing its future. Vue International is being restructured and AMC has been manoeuvring to lessen survival risk. In March, Cineworld reported 2021 revenues of $1.805 billion. Operating profit also rebounded, reaching $15.8 million, up from a 2020 loss of $2.258 billion. The group overall recorded a $708.3 million pre-tax loss across the Covid-impacted year in which cinemas were closed for most of the first half. Nag
More doom and gloom... guess this shouldn't be massively surprising though and it'll probably get worse considering you now need to be on the Times rich list to afford to drive to the cinema in the first place. shinymcshine
The Cineworld at Friars Walk Newport hasn't reopened post COVID due to an ongoing rent dispute with the site landlord. Damn shame, as it was much nicer than the one on the Retail Park (albeit that one has now been refurbished). Thing is, despite sitting on a £30 CW gift card since Christmas, there's just nothing been released that's appealled enough to drag me over there. Oh well guess that gift card will likely be worthless now anyway.
mfnick
King Arthur Legend if the Sword Really enjoyed that! Thank God I gave it a go. I usually hate period films/programmes and all that king, olde world shit. This take on it though with the usual Guy Ritchie swagger was great fun, loads of action and supernatural super human shit was cool. Didn’t think it was going to be like that at all and it was all the better for it. Chip N Dale Far better than it has any right to be. Just simple daft fun. mfnick
Day Shift Dumb and excellent non stop action flick. Was basically a video game film and supremely enjoyable. The ragdoll style physics on the vamps was particularly well used, genuinely laugh out loud funny and great to watch. Every shotgun blast sends them flying through walls in great fashion. Recommended.

Pretty much a mash up of John Wick action with Deadpool/comic book humor and violence. At first the plot seems pretty accidentally to the action, but by the end it pulls it all together into something pretty substantial. I had a lot of fun watching it. mfnick
I can see why it would rub some people up the wrong way to be honest. Or even if just being int he wrong mode for it. But as a turn your brain off stupid action flick I liked it a lot.

Doesn't seem like any Directors Cut release is ever likely though: https://collider.com/does-event-horizon-cut-directors-cut-exist-explained/
