Playdate finally arrived!

Estimated ship date is late 2023 if you order one now. I've always been tempted by one, seem a neat bit of kit but the long lead times put me off too around the time pre-orders were first announced.

My biggest annoyance with the Playdate is that you can't power it down. I'm sure there's a technical reason, but it basically means you have to regularly charge it even if you aren't using it. It comes with a warning that if its out of battery more then 6 months then it might well not come back on

Yeah same, it's also on the PS+ Extra catalogue, I added it to my library but not got round to it yet.

I'd recommend to anyone who's interested in some of these niche titles and also likes to collect a bit here and there, to keep a close eye on some of those Switch releases that are happening at the moment. With the successor looming on the horizon and even publishers seemingly unaware whether or not it's backwards compatible, I suspect a lot of these games are being produced in very limited quantities and will be hard to find in a year's time or so. Similar to what happened with Persona Q, Radiant Historia etc. on the 3DS.

 

I do actually want to play these, not just have them. A friend of mine used to rave about the Rhapsody games back in the day, so I wonder how they hold up.

I always wanted La Pucelle back on the PS2, but given how I never really made a dent with Disgaea I never took the plunge

Finally got a replacement case and sleeve from Limited Run Games for Return to Monkey Island, after the one delivered in a jiffy bag was crushed.

Bought the Cyberpunk/Phantom Liberty double pack as it had 13 quid off.

New toy for the Switch. CRKD Nitro Deck limited edition purple which comes with a nice case, extra thumbstick toppers and braided 2.5m USB-C cable.

 

It features hall effect thumbsticks (no drift), plugs in via the USB-C on bottom of Switch so works like a wired Pro controller (no lag), and has four remappable buttons on the back. Feels solid and well made, the sticks buttons and d-pad are all great although ZL/ZR are a little spongy.

It's a shame Nintendo themselves won't adopt the hall effect thumbsticks (and Sony and MS for that matter). I have that Zelda Switch but the sticks make me want to be careful about how I use it.
