Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Yeah, looney-toons comparison is very apt. Nintendo more and more are getting cartoon-y and stylish with their games. Mario Odessey, Link’s Awakening Remake, Mario Wonder, etc

Yeah, I hope they hired some of those guys when that studio shut down. I'm sure people will look into this game's background in the coming months.

Cool surprise though. Looks decent enough, the wacky animations are superb. Not sure if I'm ready for yet another Mario PRG so soon after Paper Mario but I'll play it at some point for sure.

Always like a M&L game. I actually hate the art style though. I think it looks shit. But I’ll get used to it.

I'm the opposite, I think they're soul crushingly dull. What starts out as interesting enough combat just starts to grate, everything moves so so slow. They're not very good and I'm not entirely sure how they've managed to skate along on the reputation of the first couple of games

Look at how sick some of these moves are. This is an amazing step for the series

People dunking on the name which I get, Brothership is kind of soft. Having said that, the thing I love about these games is that it’s an adventure with the Super Mario Bros. I’m really looking forward to the game putting emphasis on their relationship and them looking out for each other and being a fun comedy duo. Another reason I’m so happy with the graphics and style upgrade that we can really see the Mario Bros in a more cinematic/pixar kind of way but in a game.

I’m so looking forward to this game it’s bumped Astro Bot down to my no.2 most anticipated game

I was going to say it would be cool if they kept doing this the other day, and they are! They’re keeping the same box art theme from the DS & 3DS games. It’s a small thing but I really like this

The score is fine, but some outlets like ign say that it's very hand-holding, the humour isn't really there anymore and that it suffers from quite severe performance issues, while highlighting the combat as its strongest point. In fairness, outside of the performance thing, that already was the case with every Mario & Luigi game after Bowser's Inside Story, so it probably depends on whether you're okay with just a 'decent' entry or if you were hoping for something that would rival the series' high points.
