Really though it's AWII, especially given the shocking technical state of BGIII's last chapter

I think that cleaned up at the Golden Joystick awards, so I'm kind've expecting the same here.

Yeah, I think so too. It's immensely popular and successful but also still has the air of an indie underdog, so that's almost garantueed to win.

 

I wish they'd put in Hi-Fi Rush instead of RE4 though. Nothing against RE4 but this is the safest, least surprising list they could have come up with.

If I was a betting man I'd say BG3 will get it but I'd wouldn't be surprised if AW2, Spider-Man or Zelda got it.  I reckon it'll be close.

Tbf there's a good amount of games that could've made that list but didn't... Dead Space, Hogwarts, Hi-Fi Rush, Final Fantasy XVI and Starfield... people might not agree with those but me personally I could see any of those on there.

I wouldn't say so. Granted I haven't played any of those games on that list, but a lot of my favourites are from the first half (Octopath Traveler 2, Metroid Prime Remaster, Advance Wars and so on). Plus there was Hi-Fi, RE4, Dead Space, Immortality, SF6. Really busy year all around I think.

I’d have loved to see Hi Fi Rush on there. Didn’t think it would make the cut but still disappointing.

 

Havent played AW2 or BG3 but out of the others it’s easily Spider-Man 2 for me. I can see BG3 winning it quite comfortably though which from what I’ve heard would be well deserved.

Fair enough - probably a bit like the Oscars, that if you release something too early in the year it gets a bit forgotten about when the nomination season comes around

Bit of a weird situation with me in regards to what deserved to be nominated, what didn't etc. as I have only played 2 of the 6 games nominated and even then I sacked one off because it was boring (TotK) after 15-20 hours and the other BG3 I haven't gone back to after 15 hours. The other 4 I've wanted to play but haven't found the time this year.

 

I would agree with what others have said previously though in that the year as a whole has been amazing for games, I've just personally not got round to playing many of them unfortunately.

To be fair, Poets of the Fall is not only a solid band but to me they feel like a tiny part of the videogame world as well, due to their frequent collaborations with Remedy to usually impressive effect. At least a more fitting cameo than whatever Hollywood actor they will get on stage.
