Maf
Maybe it’s been a while since I played a racing game and know nothing about GT, but this game seems phenomenal? Not educated enough to say but it seems brilliant to me. Also very weird. There’s a show room where you can look at cars, get linked to their real life YT channel to watch adverts, and for some companies they also have a slide show of their history. For Nissan the have like the entire history of the company in slide show form. Even showing the boat they use to ship cars around the world? It’s so unnecessarily in depth But tucked away in then Asia cars section there’s a slide show called “Sony AI”. I thought what’s that? And it’s just a slide show showing notable historic events since 2013 including Trump winning the presidency in 2016, Covid vaccine rollouts in 2021, and of course, the release of the PS5 in 2020 lol. WHY IS IT HERE Looking at the brands and how many race tracks there are, am I right in thinking that they just don’t have as much stuff as Forza? Is that what separates these games is Forza just has more tracks and cars? I really like this game, though. It’s just got so much style and cool music choices. Maf
No, but Teresa May in the game. Close enough?
Nag
Do the other cars still go round the track like they're on a railway track?... that's not me taking the piss either, that's how I remember these games up until the third one, I haven't played one since then. Maf
Actually, yes. I realised that playing tonight. The other cars sort of avoid each other, slightly. But it makes no difference what I’m doing they all just stick to their line Makes getting the clean race bonus sometimes hard (but always worth getting as it’s 50% extra cash)
mfnick
In VR this shit is revolutionary! Honestly it’s incredible. Unfortunately I find setting up the PSVR2 such faff I very rarely do it. But playing normally I find this game incredibly boring. & that’s speaking as a car nerd too. I appreciate all the museum aspects of manufacturers you mention but that’s presented in a boring way too. I also detest how it look like the track is turning not the car when using the external view but hate the cockpit and bonnet views without VR so just struggle with enjoying it in general. Maf
Yeah, I can see that. This game might just be catching me at the right time and it’s very different to anything else I’ve played lately. I also don’t necessarily think the car museum is interesting, I just skipped through some to have a look. But I do think it has a very weird style to it which I kinda dig. Like the opening video I posted, it’s pretentious to the point of silly. Like the game’s “main campaign” is basically a mission mode where you go to a car cafe and some picture of a guy called Luca gives you a restaurant style menu to some jazz background music and politely tells you what to do next to complete the menu. Then some other picture of I guess famous car people turn up and go “is that your Renault? I made that by the way let me tell you a paragraph about it” It’s so weird. But I dig weird. The actual racing is showing some cracks for me already. As said earlier the AI is very static (but I’m only playing on medium difficulty so I dunno what happens if adjusted, also when looking at stuff on YT they might have added a new AI thing called Sophy? I dunno yet), the game seems to already be running out of tracks, and I know what you mean by the cars don’t actually turn, the camera is so fixed to the back end of the car, I think it’s why I find cornering hard. In the replays, though, it looks very nice Another thing which is holding my interest is having to actually learn the game. It’s been ages since I’ve played a racing game that has no rewind button and the 50% cash penalty for clean racing is making me not play it like bumper cars like I usually do. The game is already making me accept some corners just can’t be taken at 60mph. Which goes against everything in me but it is working out better I’m having a great time with it so far. This game is nice
one-armed dwarf
I think the appeal of the series has always been how the cars feel so distinct and the nitty gritty customisation. I put a shit ton of time into GT2 and 4 back in the day. 5 lost me You GT people should have listened to @OCH and picked up Armored Core VI, it's what you like, but instead of cars driving in a line it's robots beating shite out of each other

I dunno yet) yeah look out for the heart icons where you can select a track, certain events you can race sophy - not sure i've explained that well enough, the menus are insane, if you can't find it i'll have another go! actually played this for the first time in ages today, just did some weekly timetrials to test the wheel still works after replacing some parts. oh and there's been a patch recently which has apparently messed up some of the forcefeedback, and from the quick go it did seem much weaker than it used to be. Snaggletooth
I had to sell my racing rig when I moved, so have been struggling to get back into gt7 since. But gt7 and I guess any racer come alive with a wheel. Gt7 ai though is an improvement over previous entries especially on harder difficulties but that is also to its detrement at times on some already hard challenges. But it does still leave a lot to be desired compared to some other racers.

There’s 10 challenges called “DRIVING BASICS” which I shouted aloud a few times over the hours Saw this & made me think of your post. So true.
Maf
As long as you use the mechanics Elden Ring is easy game Nothing makes getting gold on GT licenses easy

Snaggletooth
There are video tutorials availible before test I believe, watch them repeatedly. Ses how much they break / where when they start turn in decelerate etc. Some tests will still be hard but certainly a lot easier than before. Unless youve already done that, in which case practice practice practice. Or give up and do something else 😂
Maf
I did get gold on the B license tests then went back to doing some of the missions. I haven’t played the game for the past couple,of days When I get to the next ones and start tearing my hair out I’ll be back to file my grievances
mmmark
I’ve not written about my experience of this game yet because it’s been too fragmented. I need a proper sit down with it. The beginning is a bit odd, it throwing you into a race of having to reach checkpoints while 4 classic compositions are all banging out and intertwining with one another. The opening video is wonderful. The overall look seems really clinical and unexciting. I wanted to just choose a nice fast car on a track for my dad to race around on and enjoy. Could I bugger find where that option might be. Shouldn’t be hidden away if it even exists. Ended up being on a challenge of doing a fastest sector. Racing the same small sector of a track over and over That’s said I do look forward to having some time to put into it and build up a collection. Snaggletooth
Its missing the Arcade mode that earlier gt games had. They added a level of accessibility for people, and rather than expand on those as they should have they got rid of them. Similar to having to complete a lot of cafe menus to unlock online play. Such a shit way of doing it, I enjoyed the progression but just alienates so many players.
mmmark
That circus tent opened for me, the missions. Did the first one and it didn’t load a single friends time on the leaderboard. Then I remembered I don’t pay for ps plus. Cheeky bastards I bought your game and you hold back leaderboards
