Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

I’m not far in but from the offset this game is very impressive. The beginning is an excellent recreation of the opening to raiders of the lost and it looks really stunning. You’re right there playing this classic scene. The new engine they’ve made should take them far indeed.

I was surprised to see indy gets exhausted from running or throwing punches, but maybe this mechanic was in Wolfenstein too?

Indy sounds exactly as he should. Troy Baker has absolutely perfected this.

Only played up until finishing the Campus level but I can already tell I'm going to like this... I didn't realise at the time but for those of us at a certain age this couldn't have released at a better time... it's giving me pangs of watching Raiders during the Christmas holidays as a kid.

As @mmmark said Indy sounds great, it looks lovely... that opening prologue jungle looks spectacular and it feels silky smooth to move around the levels and such.

obviously with so little progress made i've done zero stealthing or combat but as long as they hold up well I think me and the Great Circle should get along just fine.

So this seems fun, exploration and stealth good, some minor irritations (opening a door with a key and opening chests - these don't really benefit from the additional button presses & stick movement required) and regularly dropping and having to pick up equipped weapon when examining items feels cumbersome - but overall it's pretty great so far.

I'm not far enough to be able to answer that properly... I will say that I've read it makes life easier to progress the main story in the areas before trying to 100% them (you get better disguises I think)... you can continue playing after finishing the main storyline too so I'd say move on and return to areas when you’re ready to.

I’m downloading this now. People seem impressed with it so I will give it a go. Thinking about it, though, I would be much more interested in it if this was an Uncharted clone. I guess Indy doesn’t use guns? I dunno.

I thought the voice still sounded a lot like Troy Baker as well. But I super dislike Troy Baker so maybe knowing it’s him distracts and makes me hyperfixiate on that a bit

Apparently the whip and stuff makes for good laughs

I've downloaded it, too. Had a quick look and worked on my settings. Looks goods.

Looking forward to it. My own history with Indy is that this first film was a big part of my childhood cinema memories. But I thought the sequels were a load of shite, and that includes the one with Sean Connery that everyone fawns over. The interplay between the to stars was an embarrassment and still makes me cringe to this day.

I'm in the Vatican area, just really exploring around, opening up new parts, doing bits of missions and side missions.

Overall, I like it, I'm not sure that I love it - there's an awful lot in the gameplay that we've seen so many times before over the years, that the branding aside, it seems to lack it's own clear identity (i.e. I'm yet to really find any hook where I've though 'oh, that's new....').

I’m really enjoying this, much more than I expected, probably because I was expecting a more generic action adventure, shooting bad guys and stuff, but we got some sort of stealth exploration game with puzzles and disguises and occasional fisticuffs. So yeah probably enjoying it because I like stealth games and don’t feel like we get many stealth games. Although the stealth isn’t amazing and yeah we’ve seen all this stuff before, but its put together in a nice package here and all the different parts fit together well. You can most likely play it more aggressively if you want I guess but yeah I’m sticking to hiding, not sure I’ve used the gun at all.

Yeah I'm still having a great time too... still chipping about in the Vatican although I think I'm about ready to move the story along (nowhere near 100% there either)... meeting Gina was eye opening as she started punching Nazis when I did...😂

There's something really satisfying about running up to the baddies while they're still figuring out if you're a threat or not and pummeling them senseless.

They've nailed this I think... the voice acting for Indy is spot on, unless this really drops the ball in the some way I'd say even at this early stage this'll probably be a shoe in for my GotY... and I really didn't expect that.

Unless there's a way to turn off the walk animation I don't think I can play this. Trying to walk forward while Indy is bobbing up and down like he's on a fucking boat is so annoying

Maybe I try controller. I started it on PC for the graphics but maybe screen shake + MKB is not the wave

Escape from Butcher Bay does this as well I think, it's like a first person game where you're controlling an actual character model and not a floating head. Can feel pretty rough at times.

From what I've seen this game is pretty heavily melee and whip based so I reckon controller would work just as well if not better than M&K tbh, if it's not a twitch shooter
