And I don't just mean Sony games, what was the last game that got a PS4 version but not a PS5? Some Capcom games did, like the fighting game collections or the Monster Hunter Stories doublepack from last year. 1
Nag Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I saw some things about the outage on social media and such... I didn't try to use the PlayStation yesterday though... did it affect people on here?
Maf Posted February 9 Posted February 9 It was working for me. Downloaded an update, trophies popped and I could use the store.
mfnick Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Was playing a traditional SP disc game on my primary one so no, didn’t affect me thankfully. Sometimes works being stuck in the past Ive changed my password today though.
one-armed dwarf Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Interesting article on PCGamer, where PC games which could have had this mandatory login thing with PSN would also get affected, like apparently you could not start GoW Ragnarok if you happened to buy it when this was going on. Making the point that this additional point of failure adds no value and just more friction, which I agree with. A layer cake of different launchers with all their own bespoke authentication protocols is something we're better off not accepting (the use of 'resist' gives me a 'gamers rise up' type of vibe in the headline but I agree with it otherwise) https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/the-playstation-network-outage-proves-pc-gamers-were-right-to-resist-its-mandatory-sign-in-requirement/
Maryokutai Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Like the article suggests I doubt a lot of people had this amount of foresight and only 'resisted' because they want Steam, and nothing else but Steam on their PC. But it's always good to remind people of the risk and point out the very obvious lack of any benefit. Especially as it goes beyond just software at this point, with the detachable disc drive needing an online certification before its first use (which doesn't happen too often, but it's still something to keep in mind).
one-armed dwarf Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Not that there aren't people like that, but the argument of it being an additional point of failure when it comes to accessing the games you bought is one you do hear quite often imo. It's probably the biggest one I'd say and explains why GoG is a highly desired secondary option cause of zero DRM I mean I'll speak for myself at least, I mentioned it here. Go me https://www.mfgamers.net/index.php?/topic/43979-helldivers-2/&do=findComment&comment=324376 While I'm being vain it seemed it came up before with ubisoft as well, when they tried to deactivate games https://www.mfgamers.net/index.php?/topic/42653-random-news-ii/&page=63#comment-303934 These additional loops also create friction and break functionality on Linux/steam deck
Nag Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I honestly thought I'd be playing Veilguard through Game Pass but I'll take this... thank you nicely.
Maryokutai Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Oh, wow, even without EA calling Veilguard's performance a disappointment this would have been a clear indicator. It's not even been half a year since its release.
mfnick Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Almost bought Veilguard cheap a couple of times so that’s a good get. TMNT is a nice bonus too. Sonic Colours is very shit. Just ignore that one.

I don't think Colours is shit, but I don't get why it got the following it did Anyway, Veilguard really must have fallen short of EAs targets to come on this quickly

one-armed dwarf Posted March 12 Posted March 12 They're adding the classic Armored Core games to PS Plus, I think you can also just buy them separately. I was deep into a hyperfixation with the third gen games on PS2 back when ACVI got announced and played them all, so am definitely keen to try these out. That old control scheme is something else tho, shoulder buttons to look up and down and to rotate on the spot. Hardcore hand cramps https://blog.playstation.com/2025/03/12/playstation-plus-game-catalog-for-march-ufc-5-prince-of-persia-the-lost-crown-captain-tsubasa-rise-of-new-champions-and-more/
Nag Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Robocop is great (although I own it already)... The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was also surprisingly good fun back when I played it with Game Pass. No interest in the third game whatsoever...😂
mfnick Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Robocop is a so good! May play it through again ready for that expansion thing they’re doing.
Maf Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I know everyone says it’s good but I don’t like Robocop (the series) at all, really. Even for free, there are so many games to play I don’t think I’ll bother
