shinymcshine Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 After initial reaction of WTF does this really need to exist already - there is this, which actually seems pretty reasonable: "And good news for existing owners of The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation 4! You will be able to upgrade to a digital version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered for $10 USD at launch. You’ll also be able to import your saves from the original game to Part II Remastered." 1
Nag Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 I've no interest in replaying this whatsoever... I'll bet Geoff Keighley is already lining it up for GotY 24.😂 1
one-armed dwarf Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Well, this means it will probably get a PC release later on at least. I remember this playing really well but its hyperfocus on cruelty felt a bit of an indictment on the limited storytelling vocabulary of AAA gaming. Had nothing interesting to say But it played really well 1
HandsomeDead Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 When we made those favourite game lists I realised for the first time that Xenoblade Chronicles and TLoUP2 have really similar stories and arcs. Just one with a lot more whimsy and deciding at the end this is all God's fault, let's kill 'em. So while I don't think it's unique, especially considering outside of games I wouldn't say it's got nothing to say. It was just good to play a game with some well thought out motivations for it's characters and explores them thoroughly in a way that didn't feel overdone. It fills it's runtime well, to me. But again it's just made to help promote the eventual TV show. I'm not looking forward to accidently going through that discourse again 😩 Actually, I misread the date. It's strange they aren't holding it to coincide with the show, which must be a little ways off. Really confused by this then.
mfnick Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Bunch of big babies. This was fantastic and the violence definitely helped the brutal moments stand out more. It’s an all timer. Saying that I’ve got no interest in buying it again for a console it already runs damn well on. But good for PC peeps 👍 1
mfnick Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Just read its £10 upgrade for existing owners. Still shitty but I’m willing to pay that for it I think.
DisturbedSwan Posted November 19, 2023 Author Posted November 19, 2023 £10 to upgrade for existing owners is decent. I’ve thought about playing this again a few times, it’s a game that is often repeating in my mind. This will give me the perfect incentive, hopefully there’s a new Plat too. God knows when I’ll get a chance to play it though as it’s being dropped into a bad window for me.
DANGERMAN Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Same as everyone, I'm not looking to play this again any time soon, but if I was I'd pay the upgrade fee I think 1
Maf Posted April 10 Posted April 10 This series is getting ANOTHER re-release I know it’s not a remaster or anything and strictly a new package. But c’mon, now 1
one-armed dwarf Posted April 10 Posted April 10 I wonder why special editions of games don't come with special features. That's one thing I love about physical media with films, the commentary tracks and BTS, or even sometimes video essays. It's cool I remember MGS2 had it in its PAL release. These stupidly expensive editions might be more interesting then, instead of the stupid tat and tin case. I've no real issue with a re-release like that, it is just a new package anyway.
Maf Posted April 12 Posted April 12 On it’s own it doesn’t matter and I’m sure no developer time has gone in to this, just some marketing team capitalising on season 2 of the TV show But when you lay it out like this tweet It’s like ok, enough now. You have milked these 2 games too death.
Maf Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I think both the PS5 versions have Pro patches. So there are no more roads to go down with this. I hope their new game comes out soon and ND can escape form TLoU for now
Maryokutai Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Part of me likes that there's a complete retail version with everything on it. If I had a PS5 I'd probably even pick this up when on sale, as I only played these games in their original release versions. But yeah, it looks a bit like a desperate attempt at milking Naughty Dog content because they can't get new stuff out the door.
one-armed dwarf Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Anyone up for a remixed remaster? https://blog.playstation.com/2025/07/08/introducing-the-last-of-us-part-ii-remastered-chronological-experience-out-today/
