HandsomeDead
I never liked Grange Hill. That theme tune just reminds me that I used to go to my room and play some videogames. <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wNxB9IWVd9U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hendo
Haven't heard that track in years! I like Maximo Park but I'm never that keen on the singer's voice, some bits I like but sometimes he grates on me. It's a good song though. New band/album by Kate Miller-Heidke from me, Fatty Gets A Stylist. She's properly pushing her voice into sounding completely different. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6_wzDu-GJLY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I'm not a fan of live recorded performances, they tend to loose something in transition unless you were for the actual performance. To be clear, I chose the live version because his band have completely livened the song up. It's still essentially the same song but sounds flatter and emptier on record, whereas live it sounds like hell's house band. For reference: <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/q-aoNLdKrXs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Tomahawk Rob
Not at all familiar with KMH's previous output, so can't comment on how different her latest stuff sounds, but while it's not something that would end-up on my iPod, it was pretty fun to listen to. I gave it a couple of listens this morning and its chorus managed to wedge itself into my brain... I've been listening to these guys a fair bit recently after being introduced to this track by SlyEnemy a few moons ago: <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/617ANIA5Rqs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
DANGERMAN
I think I've got one of their albums somewhere Great track, awesome video, not entirely sure when I'd ever listen to it, but I loved it. It builds more than I thought it was going to, I thought it was just going to stay as a retro beat all the way through Been listening to this a lot, it's by Puscifer, a side project of Maynard from Tool <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OOOavQagvaU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hendo
The last I heard about them a few years ago was that it was a parody rap band but that might have been Maynard taking the piss. I like that track, sounds very Perfect Circle. Could've put this in the guitar thread but my Twin Peaks marathon continues and so I found this which is a beautiful version of the theme on baritone guitar. If you want to learn it, here's the tab. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/t_06O8XnJQo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

DANGERMAN
that was alright actually, still sounded quite modern. Quite bleak too. As is this, my favourite Johnny Cash song (well, cover), which I've only just realised is a Bonnie Prince Billy song <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h04I5MtuOMw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Jimboxy
I fucking love Johnny Cash, esp the later stuff. There is so much emotion in his voice, and I think that got better with age. Excellent choice. Mine's this: Ukeleles of Halifax - Country Roads Cover of the John Denver song.We do this at Moselelebut no where as good as this version. Hendo
Enjoyed that. In a similar vein, this cover destroys the original in every way. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Fw8ZDwdyHJQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Craymen Edge
I've seen a few videos of those folks, they're fun. And that is a great cover (the original is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me). Scroobius Pip released the first teaser for his upcoming solo release yesterday. Can't wait. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_Gh8TWpQE8?hd=
Hendo
That's a brilliant track and a great video, bar him later on obviously appearing with the full beard after he'd already cut it shorter. A friend showed me this video knowing my tastes in music and sure enough I went and found the album on iTunes and downloaded it. Brilliant takes on swing and lounge classics, like "This Guy's In Love With You". <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/GLF46JKkCNg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
DANGERMAN
didnt really do that much for me tbh, sounded like the outro to some hollywood film set in Arabia some where. Musically there's some great performances in there though I heard The Twilight Sad for the first time the other day (their acoustic album), and as such I present to you the most Scottish song ever written <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/v9Couwu7NfM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hendo
I'm pretty sure they've done far more "Scottish" songs than that. The debut album has a single that contains the word "cunt" in the lyrics and it got played on radio stations simply because no-one could tell. Listened to Siamese Dream the other day for the first time in probably years, it really is still a great album. Found this acoustic performance of "Cherub Rock". <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QaW_l4Vyuys" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
spatular
^ i love that song, the intro sounds different, maybe it's usually heavy i can't remember. now i have to think of a song to post...hope i'm not going to be posting something that has already been done
Sly Reflex
That was great, so laid back, quite a calming listen. I was thinking recently about bands or artists I don't particularly like, and whether the artists over reached themselves creating material. It could be that they even stole material like it's know that this group have done. I dunno, pretty much everything these guys have kicked out has been utter shite (imho), but when you strip away the 'rapping' and just listen to the intrumental it's pretty good. The bassline is probably the best thing I've ever seen come out of these guys. Like a stroke of genius in the sea of mediocrity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbXFwHznoYc Any other songs that are well put together before they get spoiled by people singing over them? Craymen Edge
I like that instrumental. The full version's an OK pop song in my opinion. I saw them live before Fergie became a member, and their show was a pretty good amalgam of musical styles from all over. I'm not fond of the weird dance-y direction they took in the last couple of years, but really liked them when they were more hip-hop circa 2000. (the instrumental version of that one is pretty dull: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9dI6rZaC6A)
Hendo
That was ok, hadn't heard that track before. I just wonder what that band would've made of the BEP tracks of today. Seeing as Mark has ignored my long list of game soundtrack tunes, I'm gonna throw in a current favourite, "Switch" from Frozen Synapse. Give it a minute to get going. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Na7u8HV5u08" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I've been listening to a lot of electro stuff recently... this track has really caught my ear! <iframe width="560" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5wkC8vWbFm8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hendo
I like that, it's the kind of thing I've been listening to recently as well. This is a local band who have had a bit of radio play, etc, but I've always thought their songs weren't all that great until I saw them in performing a gig in a music shop and this song in particular stuck with me. <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fEMCVaiqxwo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
