  2. Splatoon had a fantastic score. Really you could pick anything out and you'd have a good tune. I like this laid back bit of music from the shop. Strolling through the wastelands of Boston in Fallout 4 can sometimes kick this song out. I must have heard it a million times before but I never really paid attention to the lyrics. It's a good 'un.

I said it'd happen, not that it'd be excellent. Nor could it be Google that crack it. It might be some other company that manage it. It's coming though, whether we like it or not.

Oh there'll be MTX in those games as well. You can bet your bloodied colon on it.

  7. I made some progress this evening, beating the drunk dude and then a main boss. Managed to boost a few stats as well so hopefully a few fights I'd run through will be easier.

But what if I don’t finish it?

Rather than providing a running commentary on films you can never manage to finish I highly recommend watching Mandy instead.

I’ve changed my mind this Life film is crap
  11. This is by SWERY so you know it's bonkers as shit. I had no idea what type of game this was and i was not expecting a horror puzzle platformer. You play as Jackie (J.J Macfield) in search of her girlfriend Emily after she vanishes during your camping weekend in the mountains. Immediately noticable is the slow pace at which you move, closely followed by doughnuts and use of your mobile phone. The game also explains nothing so you have to guess what to do in all instances. So it turns out you use J.J's body to your advantage. She can dismember herself on various types of scenery, from losing an arm (which can be picked up and thrown), then a leg, then you are just a torso, finally just a head (which moves quickly and has a boss jump). You can also set yourself on fire and you can use all this pain to progress through the levels in search of your beloved. I don't wasnt to give anything else away, i just recommend you play this knowing as little about it as possible, it's truly bat shit crazy but I'm really enjoying it (apart from the crawl speed of the character movement). I will say the story/message is getting good, text messages between J.J and her friends are drip fed to you as you progress.

Hearing Ken Barlow's son beg for his life in a red fever-dream lost weekend "I'll suck your dick" is pretty much the only thing that stayed with me from Mandy. I thought it was ok, I'll give it another watch at the some point I watched Bohemian Rhapsody the other day. I didn't like it anything like as much as Wiivo, it's too stupid. I've no great issue with Mike Myers but he really exasperates the problems. As dumb and wildly inaccurate as it is it is still watchable. The acting is good for the most part, Malek and the guy playing May in particular. It is more Freddies story than it sounded like it was going to be

I started watching Mandy last night but went to sleep a few minutes in. Not a critical response, more that it was time for bed. I’m finishing watching Goodfellas for the first time. One of those films that I’d convinced myself I’d seen but really just seen loads of clips and parodies. I also didn’t realise The Dirt was on Netflix, I assumed it was a cinema release, so I’ll be watching that pretty soon.

My niece came round and she loves The Greatest Showman so we had to watch that (she’s 5). Fucking dire, just fucking awful. I’ve never been so glad to see credits. Tonight, after hearing good things, the misses and I sat down and watched Mandy. It made me laugh out loud quite a few times but it was boring. My wife hated it. It reminded me visually of Farcry Blood Dragon.

I will never accept streaming unless network latency can be consistently low. It will just be rubbish for the games I really like playing unless parry systems in all games are made with massive input windows to allow for lag.

I'd sooner bend over and let microtransactions rape me raw than streaming be the main way to play games...

I got that with the goddamn BS Ancient Dragon boss fight. It was the last thing I had to do in-game, when it first came out (I was never interested in NG+) and after doing it, despite being virtually euphoric, I decided to never play DS 2 again.

Smaller devs? I think maybe it would be beneficial for small games that people wouldn't really take a punt on. I'm talking few man teams here, If they're being paid on minutes played like Spotify I reckon they could do quite well out of it. They wouldn't really need to continue putting content out, although some do. The developers between the indies and the AAA studios? I've no idea how that's going to work out for them. It's a hurdle they're going to have to find a way of jumping though, since there's no way around this. Streaming will be eventually the way we consume games. People will try to cling on to physical and it might become a hobbyist thing in the same way vinyl has become, but physical is going out the window. First it will be digital only and then moving on streaming will go to take that crown.
  22. Wasn’t a trophy, but I felt immense satisfaction killing the Smelter Demon in Dark Souls 2. Took multiple attempts, really was a “jump out of the chair” moment when he died. In regards to actual trophies, the most recent one that took the most effort was getting the Platinum for Dead By Daylight. An entirely online multiplayer game,so some of the trophies took considerable effort to get.
  23. I’ve only played 2 hours of this on Friday afternoon but impressions were positive but bewildering. All the knowledge from Souls and what certain items do means diddly squat here and I found myself just wandering about trying to get my bearings and exploring. I haven’t really had too many issues with the combat system though, I’ve died a fair few times but it has been quite easy so far compared to Souls. I am very early in though and just entered the first ‘memory’ section. This is seems like a really odd comparison but it’s almost like one of the older Assassin’s Creed’s with the reliance on partying, plentiful amounts of bushes and being able to stealthily take down a whole village of enemies if you’re careful enough. The atmosphere in the game is amazing too, it’s so mysterious and almost everything before you is intriguing and inviting in some way.

Along those lines I do remember that I memorised Kazuya's entire moveset in Tekken 4, even the combos (back before my memory truly turned to the shite it is now). My friends didn't like that and we stopped playing not too long afterwards. When I did it again, with Shang Tsung in MK: Deadly Alliance, they really didn't like it.. They stopped playing that too. I took to heart to never get too good and from that point on any real sense of competition I had diminished to the nothing it is today.
  25. Official play time so far is 8 hours 54 minutes, but actual play time is less than that when taking into account thrown controller/get up and walk away time. First boss down though so I think I'm getting the hang of the combat system now. Video below:
  26. erm, probably when I got the bronze at Evo in Fighters Megamix. It feels a bit undeserved though, I was just pulled out of the crowd, hadn't played the game since I was a teenager, and I was playing as the duck (Bean iirc), but it's something I'll never do again
