Don't want to go looking for the tweet but according to rumours they are throwing out most of Spiderverse 3 for creative reasons, or something. Film is unlikely to release before 2027

 

Feeling glad I held off on watching that second film. Hopefully they work this one out in a way that doesn't involve cruel(er) treatment of its animators

Really bad trailer but I like the horror angle. I do wonder if there's still enthusiasm for this character and MCU shows though. This probably should have come out six to twelve months after Wandavision but maybe they were surprised by the positive reaction of her character? Anyway, I'll watch an episode or two for Aubrey Plaza if nothing else, maybe it'll hook me (seems completely unrelated to anything other than Wandavision as well, which is a good thing IMO).

New trailer for Thunderbolt’s is out and it’s not bad but they also put out a poster that was clearly made with AI 

 

 

I would find this disgusting from any big film company but even worse when it’s Marvel a company that owes it’s entire existence to drawings, pictures and artists

Nearly every hand in the poster is wrong. Especially Bob’s (bottom left) and the pattern on Bucky’s metal arm is uneven as well. 
 

Not sure what they’ve done but that is always the tell of AI

Oh yeah, forgot about the hand test. That's actually pathetic they didn't even bother to let someone fix that.

 

I guess this is like the poster version of that white suit scene in endgame: everything except the faces is fake.

I should say, looking at this image over and over I'm not that convinced. It still looks weird to me, the index finger looks like it starts as two fingers. It's not something I'd put past Disney given they've used it on Secret Invasion apparently

Looks like AI to me still. That index finger on Bob’s hand looks super weird

 

The pattern on Bucky’s hand isn’t right. The hexagons aren’t even, some are even touching, an artist wouldn’t do that. 
 

Also where is the handle on Bucky’s gun and where is it going? 
 

There’s also the small holes on the gun by David Harbour’s face that aren’t all round or even. Again artists don’t do that
 

Flourence Pugh’s hand looks weird as well. The ring finger doesn’t line up with the glove and it looks like her index and middle finger are coming out of one hole. Although that might be low resolution I dunno 

 

I’m not an expert but following comic artists on twitter and stuff this really looks like it was made with AI and then touched up with photoshop maybe

 

And yeah Marvel used AI for the intro of Secret Invasion and for the Loki S2 poster so I wouldn’t put it past them. 
 

They have so much money, for them to be using AI is terrible practice

I was thinking of making a post about it in the AI thread but it made me too depressed, but Jim Cameron is apparently joining the board of this AI company. He recently released a ton of awful, smeary looking 4k AI upscales of his Aliens and True Lies films so it's not that surprising but unfortunately I suspect this is the thing these assholes are going to try and push on big budget blockbusters going forward and it won't just be in posters

I guess the image issues aren't dissimilar to that whole faff with Kate Middleton (and Prince whoever's birthday photo) - where an enthusiastic amateur plus editing software (with auto assistance) can end up making inconsistent images, which might look like AI created ones (as the auto editing algorithms are probably similar).

 

But even then it means the industry is likely dumbing down on paying trained graphic artists towards the lower end of the market, even if it's not AI.

I don't know if this is the UK/Ireland release date as well, but this is coming to digital quite quickly (October 1)

 

You'll have to buy it though, and iirc from Spiderman No Way Home these early digital purchases ain't cheap

 

 

Still, 4K HDR at home, zero dickheads other than yourself. Disney are one of the better stream providers as far as bitrate I think.

Bizarrely, the Spider-Noir series is a live action series. Now I'm on board, this thing is going to be fucking dumb. Hopefully it's in B&W, give us those tilted camera angles as well.
