Fable

Pretty much everything on Xbox' side of things is. I think most of their new studios and projects started around 2018, so 2022 and 2023 will probably be big years for them.

Which is a bit disappointing but maybe also a blessing in disguise because it means developers didn't have to think about going cross-gen for these games.

Usually not a fan of these celebrity cameos but Ayoade makes for a surprisingly good fit.

I wonder what the game's structure will be though. There was a bit of gameplay when you could see the player character dodging the giant, but that's a very unusual setpiece for an RPG. Also, not even a release year? Ouch.

When the showcase started and the first thing you heard was Ayoade I was like yes! Great get for Fable. Great trailer but all you get out of it is that the English sense of humor remains.

I don't really like the trailers they do for this. They all make it seem like there's just nothing there, just a façade of an RPG. I realise that's not the case, but as I said in the Xbox topic, if this didn't have the name (or MS & Playground attached to it), I would have dismissed it as vaporware at this point.

That's obviously just me disliking the way they're marketing it though. But it's almost like you have to make up the game they want you to see in your head and look forward to that version.

At this point I don’t ever want them to talk about Fable again until they surprise drop it on Gamepass.

Not that I’m losing sleep about it or think about it any more than when it comes up in the news. But that’s 6 years of them promising the game is coming out and nope. I’m not even disappointed, I just don’t care anymore.

Tbf a date has never been given... but yeah I get where you're coming from. Same with the new Elder Scrolls game, it was obviously coming but teasing it when they did served no purpose whatsoever.

I had similar feelings after their E3 show from last year. There's no doubt this is a game I'll play when it eventually launches, but the stuff they've shown so far isn't particularly enticing. It looks good visually for sure, but that's about as far as it goes at the moment. Though in fairness we also have zero details about what sort of game this is going to be because nobody has talked about it. The marketing has been distinctly Anti-Molyneux, maybe that's the part that feels weird (not saying he did a good job, far from it, but at least he made you pay attention, for better or worse).
