Going to put this here because not convinced enough to start a thread. But apparently GameFreak has had a “Giga Leak” which reveals code names for gen 10 Pokemon games - Pokemon Gaia N & K, a multiplayer focused Pokemon game called Synapse and  the Switch 2 code name “Ounce”

There’s more info on this Twitter page and list of the download files, but this is the gist of it

Could be real. But this is all coming from one Twitter account so far. Not really concrete enough to get excited about yet

I can't remember where I heard, it may have been Grubb, but they say The Pokémon Company insist Nintendo make budget, child friendly versions of consoles so it makes sense their games will be cross gen until a Switch 2 lite exists (or close to existing), in that it tracks with how they've usually operated.  They'll centre the player base.  It means a Switch 2 version will maybe brute force and technical issues they still have.

If the Pokemon leak is real this is pretty much worst case scenario

There’s been tonnes of interesting stuff released including Pokemon that ended up on the cutting room floor, some super wild internal lore stuff about Pokemon and humans having babies together, and seemingly prototype builds of old games

I’m all for that stuff getting out there. I think that’s interesting and doesn’t really hurt the game/series/companies. But I don’t want to see their future games leaked and ruined. That’s just ruining the fun for everybody

This is apparently all internal stories or something they have come up with and is part of what has gone from “giga leak” to “tera leak”

Video game, movie and TV leaks now.

For the record I think it’s worth noting there has definitely been a huge Pokemon leak. But people also might be taking this opportunity to put out misinformation for lols and attention

Apparently a Game Freak employee got hit by a phishing scam and this is how all this stuff is getting out

There’s FUCK TONNES of it. Everything form concept work, to meeting notes, emails, game builds.

  • 2 weeks later...

Now in widescreen!

I was going to say Banjo Kazooie to Banjo Tooie might be one of the greatest fall offs in all of gaming. But actually I wonder if there was just such a change in trends and interest between 1 and 2.

Like that first game was great - for its time. And maybe that time changed before the sequel

The music still holds up

THEY APOLOGISED FOR BANJO-TOOIE

SHADOWMAN AND TUROK 2!!!

There’s much better version of these available for money but as part of the subscription this shit is fire.

In a month or so they’ve added 2 F-Zero games, Banjo 2 and now these gems. This amazing.

Nintendo confirms Switch 2 will be backwards compatible. However not confirmed that’s cartridges, might just be digital compatibility

https://www.eurogamer.net/nintendo-confirms-backwards-compatibility-for-switch-2

This falls in line with everything they’ve been doing about getting all Nintendo games on one platform either through Switch Online or remasters/remakes. Glad they’re continuing with this

Just hope it includes cartridges as well.

Nintendo is tricky because they have bad record on continuity but with stand out examples like 3DS, Wii and Wii U.

In the post before I was going to say I bet they don’t support Switch 1 cartridges - but then backed out because of these examples

I’m not sure. It’s a coin toss for me

It sounds like they’re supporting digital purchases, though. I think that’s a first for them

It's a very imprecise, general statement. If you want to be super cynical it could technically also mean that no purchases move forward, but they will re-sell Switch 1 games on an entirely new storefront and those will run on Switch 2. But that seems unlikely.

I think it means both cartridges and downloads will transfer over (well, the latter will, the other you just pop in) and they'll work. What I don't expect is any kind of embellishments, it'll probably be like on DS/3DS/Wii where the system simply boots as a 1:1 copy of the original SKU.
