retroed
Coming later this year, HD'd up, 16:9 display, Move support. Quote Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that award winning Ōkami will be re-born this autumn as a digital download on PlayStation Network for £15.99 /€19.99. Already one of the most beautiful games ever created, the addition of HD graphics will make this new version of Ōkami even more stunning. Ōkami HD will also feature PlayStation Move integration as well as a full suite of PlayStation 3 system trophies. Initially released to critical acclaim on the PlayStation 2 system, players take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess, who inhabits the form of a wolf. After a tyrannical monster turns the world into a ruined wasteland, she must use her magical abilities to restore the land to its previous glory full of life and color. Ōkami HD brings Amaterasu’s epic tale to the PS3 with fully integrated HD graphics and 16:9 aspect ratio. The trademark sumi-e ink art style lends itself perfectly to HD allowing players to experience more of the awe-inspiring world displayed in greater detail than ever before. To create an even more immersive experience, players can take advantage of the PlayStation Move motion controller and naturally make brush strokes with the essential Celestial Brush to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. Ōkami HD will also support the DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller for those who wish to re-live the original experience. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CC2vSGDaj3E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/06/20/kami-hd-puts-the-celestial-paintbrush-back-into-players-hands-with-playstation-move/
Craymen Edge
Nice, I hope this version does well. I loved that game, but don't think I could play it again. It's looooooong.
DANGERMAN
same, I'd love to play it again but in reality I'd do the first area then decide I didn't want to spend another 50 hours with it
retroed
If it was to get a Vita release as well as PS3, I'd be there for sure. I can't see me playing it on my PS3 though, after hearing how long it is.
wholehole
WANT!! Finished it once on the PS2 from an imported copy (wasn't prepared to wait an extra four months for it over here), once again when it came out on the Wii and seeing this just makes me want to play it over again. It's an incredible game, absolutely adore it . Day one purchase for me.
Craymen Edge
I didn't get to see the video earlier. What the fuck have they done with the PS2 footage they used in the comparison shots? I'm sure it never looked that blurry.
wholehole
Those comparison shots were a massive exaggeration, the PS2 version looked absolutely fine. It was never that blurry or that foggy.
shaolin_monkey
I remember the PS2 version being more watercoloury too. That preview looked like the Wii version, all horribly gaudy colours, and no canvas stipple effect.
DANGERMAN
that preview is bullshit, they did the same with RE4, both the ps2 and wii versions looked way better than that in Japan you'll be able to buy this boxed with a snowglobe I want this
Hendo
In more weird remaster news, apparently this is coming out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One later this year. I thought the ports well had run dry, maybe not.
Craymen Edge
I did eventually play the PS3 HD version, when it came to Playstation Plus, and loved being in that world again. If it came to PC at a reasonable price, I'd probably buy it again just to have it.
DisturbedSwan
I played the original on Wii up to the first dungeon/world and loved it, but never went back to it, so if this rumour turns out to be true I'll be in Day 1.
illdog
I played this on PS2 to what I thought was the end, turned out it wasn't and then stopped playing for some reason. But it's fucking awesome (if overly long) so I'll play again, And pay again.
DANGERMAN
I'd like to play it again but I'm mortal so probably don't have time
HandsomeDead
I don't think I'll be playing it again to add to the conversation. Played a lot of it on PS2... twice I think, and did finally play it in its entirety on PS3 and I'd say that's enough Okami.

Craymen Edge
Yeah, that's about the right price for that. I feel a weird almost obligation to buy it on PC, to show support for the game. My PS2 copy was preowned, and I played the PS3 version through Playstation Plus.

HandsomeDead
This could have been green lit when Capcom didn't see much success for the Switch like they recently admitted.
