Nag
I'm starting to wonder how these shitty looking unplayable games managed to pull in these 9's and 10's with the reviews.
Maf
I mean there are like 2 or 3 people on this forum that can answer that, I guess
one-armed dwarf
I mean a lot of the shitty unplayableness is fixed by setting it to 30fps and playing it on LCD instead of OLED Still a big issue but it's so far beyond any FF in the past 20 years besides 12 for me. Definitely 9/10 personal rating
Nag
If there's really that much difference between an Oled and Qled I'm glad I went the way I did.
Maf
I’ve said it a lot already but the big thing the Pro appears to fix is FSR for me. When trying to play Alan Wake 2 on SX, even at 30, I was like no way, dude. I’m not speaking on the quality of FF7R as I haven’t played it and not really interested regardless. And as important as having great graphics/performance are, I’ll still play Switch games all day. It’s not be all and end all to me Just FSR imo is that terrible the fact there’s a “fix” for it, and it works on such a key culprit like FF7R is really great news Now if they want to drop the price by £200 and put a disc drive on the thing as standard we would be talking
Maryokutai
I wish the whole negative reception of the price would have turned into a more substantial, holistic critique of the Pro console model in general, especially now with Astro Bot being out and showing what is achievable if you align your development goals with the console's potential. Rebirth being the thing it is as a console exclusive game is the issue, not the system it's running on and as consumers we should ask for better optimisation, not throw money at Sony HQ for a second version of a console we already own. Especially as the Pro model isn't going to solve any issues and is just a 700+ bucks bandaid for a problem 60 million PS5 users will still have to deal with. And I know I said this before but if maf can play broken record, so can I.
one-armed dwarf
Tbh I feel like PS5 should be capable of the images in that tweet Both FFVII games seem to just have a tough time with how things got technically implemented. Remake had its infamous textures which wouldn't load, and pre rendered backdrops which sometimes actually looked worse than the backgrounds on the ps1 game. But it's not like they wanted the games to have those issues, that they skipped an optimisation pass. I don't think it has anything to do with a failure to scope the titles with regard to hardware limits. It must be something else.
Maf
I largely agree with @Maryokutai and another thing is most PS5 games run really well. It’s getting more frequent, but still the vast minority of PS5 games that are struggling on the system. It’s partly why the asking price is so absurd. And why the demo was so poor because of all the games they chose to show, it was games that already run really well on PS5 But there’s a reason Sony games like Astrobot run well on the console. They’r effectively built to order Clearly there are developers that want to build state of the art games and the current PS5 can’t do it. So I think it’s good that there’s a Pro model to offer that choice, for the people that care about it The insane part is the price. £700 (I honestly think £800 is the “real” price) is madness and not worth it except for a select few titles The thing that really excites me about the Pro is PSSR. When console adopt frame reconstruction, it’s going to be so good for games.

Looks like it’s still going to sell pretty well. Madness. People baulk at the idea of supporting this shit, but they still do. Even us, we're all hypocrites on some level. We all have that one thing we're willing to bend over for and have our arses plunged by the unlubricated dick of capitalism.
HandsomeDead
If they're selling out then they're not making many. Even the PS4 Pro never became the main way most played the PS4 and that was at least a more reasonable prospect compared to this. Probably the same with the XOX. Sure, they'll sell a few of these but I wonder if it's a lot to do with marketing because they can show the best versions of the games but with some plausible message saying "running on PS5 Pro" despite it mostly being played on a base model. Snaggletooth
Wait for a dlfuture announcement frrom sony with Naughty Dogs next block buster. Designed for ps5 pro, but will run on PS5 at unstable 30fps or reduced visuals. Son faithful go nuts and order a pro, only for the title to get remastered 2 - 3 years later on ps6

one-armed dwarf
Apparently the latest PS5 patch has busted graphics in some games, FFXVI among them Quote Translated from Japanese by Google 《Notice》 About PlayStation ® 5th Edition FF16 Since the recent PlayStation ® 5 system update, there have been reports of crashes and graphics-related issues with the PlayStation ® 5 version of Final Fantasy XVI. Sly Reflex
Honestly I think the PS1 grey is ageless. I know it was grey because a lot of tv's and such were grey then, but I am ready to have more silver things in the house. Black is so dull. And also it shows all the dust.
one-armed dwarf
Sounds like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn may be getting remasters. Both of these games have PS5 enhancements, so I guess this is more like TLOU Remake type of thing where they change the lighting a bit Jordan Middler - Days gone is getting a remaster Rumor - Sony | ResetEra At this point imma wonder if I should buy first party Sony games or just wait a bit for their remasters On some level, it makes you wonder if this is a scramble to right the ship after the GAAS collapse over the past year or so. Here we can put our talent to something productive without just having massive release gaps. It makes sense, but if it's true then it only heightens the sense of this being Sony's most insipid generation Great news for @Maf though (it's a matter of time before someone photoshops 'PS4 Pro Pro Pro' on the PS5 Pro box)
Maf
It’s going to be ridiculous if they use these remasters to try sell a PS5 Pro. Even if they remake Horizon 1 to look like Horizon 2, Horizon 2 is already the best looking game on PS5. It’s the last game that needs any kind of Pro version. Days Gone from what I saw does look a bit out of date, but not to the point it needs a remaster. At some point remasters get so cheap they become a waste of money
Nag
I just saw an article saying Resident Evil 9 is rumoured to be on this State of Play, while I don't believe that for a second I'll still be secretly hoping it turns out true...
