That OC score makes it seem like everybody likes it, but nobody loves it

I think maybe need to workshop the name a little bit. But you might be on to something! I will try to keep watching this show every week because I do like it. But I’m also losing the thread of it already. I understand the girl’s story and it’s mad to see Lenny Henry in this thing. When was the last time he worked? But a lot of characters I don’t understand what’s going on with them. I’ll try to stick with it because there’s something enjoyable about watching something so expensive. But story wise I’m falling off at Ep 2 already.

I played some Plague Tale tonight since it’s leaving Gamepass and being a visually dark game with lots of shadows really highlighted even more how bad this panel is. It not only has a grid pattern across most of the screen, but it’s also much darker in the middle than the sides of the TV, with I would say almost a light, big, black smudge rising from the bottom centre of the screen outwards in almost a circle shape. I already sorted it with Curry’s yesterday, they’re taking this one away and delivering a new one Sunday, but hope the next one isn’t fucked like this. Otherwise might have to try get the C1 and a partial refund. Playing bright content on it you wouldn’t know there was anything wrong with it, except for one particularly visible vertical line which is what tipped me off in the beginning. But play/watch something that has lots of shadows/dark/grey areas and it’s quite bad.

This water scene in Ep 2 of LotR is awesome. Make this shit in to a video game. I want to play a GoW style game in the LotR universe as this girl
  6. I’m more concerned by Plague Tale and FF13 leaving than I am what’s new. Think I’ll start Plague Tale tonight because I really want to get to it before the sequel comes out. FF13 I just want to revisit and then play it’s sequels. I think Hellsinger looks cool but I’m put off by anything that has a rhythm aspect to it. I can’t do any kind of rhythm stuff at all
  7. I skimmed through it and most if not all the shots I saw that she’s using is from the first area of the game (which is what I was saying when the game came out and people were making fun of me, you can’t see anything). However when you leave that part there’s much fewer areas of the game that are that densely packed and it gets much better. But it’s what I was saying the first part is too much. If it weren’t for flashing icons that light up as I walked past stuff I don’t know how I would tell apart resources from decoration in the game.

    Splatoon 3

Anyone found a good price for this game? So far I've got £41 from Base.com https://www.base.com/Games/Splatoon-3-Nintendo-Switch-inc-Iron-on-Patch/SPLATOON3NS/product.htm?awc=2694_1662403623_dcf5ea37fadbbd6e63c8b05b7c7f3ed0

  10. Couldn't find a thread for this so please merge if I missed it. I've been playing this the past couple of weeks. I'm about 3-4 hours in to it and today completed the first big mission where you blow up a hotel and shoot up a funeral. The game has kind of surprised me because I thought it was going to be open world, but actually this game is a lot like LA Noir. The game takes place in a open city, which I guess you could drive around if you wanted, but it's very linear and structured. All missions so far start at the same bar, someone tells you what to do, you get in a car and drive to the mission while someone talks and then when at the mission it's a very scripted set of sequences with extremely mediocre driving, shooting, running/chasing. It feels very old in this sense. But I quite like it. There's really not anything great about it. At first I was like oh it's just a simple game someone is using to tell their 1930's gangster story. But even the story is generic. Enjoyable enough, but it's a series of every gangster film cliché you can think of except it's got a very ordinary 2003 style video game underneath it. Which sounds really bad, but it's fun enough and I'm liking it. It's a very 6/10 kind of thing, though. I'm playing it on PC because for some reason I thought this game was supposed to be extra awesome on PC. Which maybe it is compared to console. But the PC version is kind of underwhelming. First the game stutters a lot, so you have to find a work around to not use the 2K launcher. With the stutter gone the game mostly maintains 60 but takes big, momentary dives in to the 40's for reasons I'm not sure. You also have to keep it at 60 v-sync because without it the screen tear is unreal. I've just put all settings to max at 4K and when driving around it does look like a really nice game, but also everything in this game looks fake as fuck. It looks like a really shiny video game which from a distance looks great but when close up it quickly gives it self away and nothing in this game looks real at all. Considering what they're going for is this film authentic 30's gangster thing, it really doesn't look the part. The characters in particular are - not even uncanny valley. They don't look real enough for that. They're like walking, talking wax work figures. I'm a bit surprised the game only looks as good as it does on PC, while also not looking as good as more demanding games that run much better than it. Maybe it's just not a well made PC game. I dunno. It's kind of a blend of mediocre all the way through, but it's just easy enough and odd enough that I'm enjoying playing it. I hope it doesn't go on too much longer, though. If this game is 12 hours that'll be too much
  11. Ayyy finally got to an area that has monsters in the level 60-66 range so managed to grind for a couple hours and have all hero classes learned and most hitting max rank. Happier with the game again now. The most fun part is the progression so when everything just came to a halt because I was too high level it took the fun out of it somewhat. Happy to carry on and progress the game now. I’m in chapter 5 and it feels like I’ve just hit the midway JRPG story twist where everything you thought isn’t quite that. Except in this case it’s exactly what you thought all along it just took the characters 60 hours to catch up
  12. So I’ve only figured it out about 20 minutes ago but the card system in this game is pretty cool. The top row of cards are modifiers and the bottom row of cards are action. You have to select two at the same time and the modifier card changes the action card. For example if I used the first card from both rows my whip has a fire effect. But if I use the second card from the top row it has a thorn effect. It wasn’t obvious at all because when getting a card the description is ???. You have to activate it and kill bad guys for the description to complete. What was confusing me though is I didn’t realise the cards change what they do. So I got a description for card, paired it with a different card and it would go back to ???. I was like what the fuck. I get it now, though. It’s pretty rad. Now I just need enemies to drop more cards so I can find more powerful stuff. One of the things I just found which is super helpful is I can give the whip a stone effect that turns enemies in to platforms. That’s opened up a few things to me now that I was stumped on before. I was waiting for some kind of ability. But I had the means the whole time and didn’t realise. To do awesome shit like this
  13. 😲 It’s taken me 3 months but I finally figured out how these work This game is fucking awesome by the way. I only put it on again randomly while waiting for stuff and I’ve played it for about 3 hours non-stop.
  14. Watched all 3 episodes of She-Hulk and quite liked it. Even though a lot of the Marvel stuff is quite cartoony, She-Hulk just absolutely dives in to that but in a even more light hearted way. Which now hearing all the hater shit online about how it’s sexist and feminist to the point it’s anti-men and all this seems ridiculous. It’s a sitcom for young teenage girls about silly superhero stuff. But it really works for the character and the type of humour they’re going for. Ep 3 was definitely the weakest of the bunch and where I was starting to lose interest. Some of that is because I watched 3 episodes in a row but also what they do with Abomination got kind of old really quick. It’s also the only episode where the CGI was distractingly shit. Even though I still don’t think it’s a show that can really stand up to Wandavision, which is still the high bar all these MCU TV shows have to be compared too, I will say it’s the only other show they’ve done which feels like it absolutely gets what it should be and nails it too. The humour doesn’t really work for me, i don’t think I laughed out loud in any of the 3 episodes. But it’s an enjoyable, easy going show to just sit back and watch. And to wait for Daredevil to show up
  15. 03/09/22 - Wave Race 64 (Switch) I didn't realise that game had only 6 levels. Extremely short game. It's also super fucking squirly. One tap of the stick and you go flying in the other direction. Once I remembered to use the brake, though it all came back and I was hopping up and down off these waves. How is this game so pure. It's so good. I never played the GC one so I might have to use the Dolphin thing on PC and give it ago.

    New TV

TV arrived today but looks like I’ve got a bad panel. Basically it’s got faint grid lines over it. I was messing with it for a few hours and I put a game on and down the right hand side I thought I saw a line going down the screen. I was moving the game camera around and at first thought I was tricking myself because I could barely see it. But there was something there that was distracting. I then went on the YouTube app and run a banding test and on certain greys it does show the line I saw quite clearly, but also highlighted other vertical and horizontal lines as well like a grid pattern. I’ve not heard of this before so looked it up and yeah it’s a thing. It’s not banding it’s some kind of defect with the panel. It’s not like it’s terrible because at first I couldn’t even tell if it was real, and it’s not as bad as other examples out there, but I’m still sending it back this was right out of the box. It’s a shame because I was really impressed with it. It definitely looks and performs a bit better than the 2019 Tv I had. It’s hard to describe but the image is just a bit more striking. Maybe because it’s new so the panel is at it’s freshest. But after seeing this grid problem I’m going to send it back because now I can’t stop looking at it or looking for it.

Watched the first episode of LotR. I actually really liked it! Some of the special effects for the backgrounds in certain scenes still looks a little fake. Which for the money I thought they’d avoid that. But TV I guess. Still looked excellent most of the time. The main girl is bad ass too. She’s really cool. I also really like that there were no call backs to the movies (at least I didn’t pick up on it). I think is how you have to do prequels, just treat it like a purely stand alone thing. The story lost me about half way through because I got up and started hoovering but I still enjoyed watching the second half even though I didn’t really know what was going on
  19. @retroedDead Space Extraction was awesome on the Wii.

    Sonic Superstars

Mostly footage they’ve shown before. Although that motorway style level with the insane background looks like a brand new level. I think it’s funny that just as the voice over says something like “the type of gameplay you love from Sonic the Hedgehog” Sonic is slowly climbing a wall. Something he’s never done or you would expect to see Sonic doing
  21. I was always forgiving that friendly AI could be seen. Immersion breaking as fuck but I get how hard it would make the game if the AI could blow the player’s cover. But when doing a big remake like this I would expect it to be fixed. Not only is the technology better but it’s the second time designers get the chance to sit down, revisit it, say this was really stupid the first time, let’s use this opportunity to make something better. But if it’s true that they haven’t then that’s kind of a let down. I was forgiving of it in the original but not so much here
  22. Electra as Daredevil might be cooler than Daredevil
  23. Ubisoft confirmed this is real. Going by the artwork it looks like a return to a more classic Assassin’s Creed which is good news to me. I did end up quite liking Valhalla despite not thinking I would, but still more interested in a return to a classic AC style game than the newer ones (although it’s not confirmed that’s what this is, but seems like)
  24. Yeah I’ve said similar on here before in regards to Gamepass and rivals. I think services like this will absolute drive exclusive and timed exclusive windows and things. Which I’m all right with. exclusive deals > subscription service > console wars. It’s just more ammo for either box. Which I like, go nuts. I’m not mad Sony is paying games to keep off Gamepass, either. It’s just more hater energy than competitor energy
  25. They’re not paying for exclusivity on games they’re paying for non-exclusive games to not be on Gamepass https://www.eurogamer.net/microsoft-claims-sony-pays-developers-blocking-rights-to-keep-games-off-xbox-game-pass At least according to Xbox I’m not angry about it either. Business is business. But it’s less respectable business in my view
