Halo Infinite

I think it’ll just be another Halo game after all the dev issues they’ve had. They’ve barely showed any of it so far which makes me think it was gonna be a big open thing and instead it got narrowed for time and because of a lack of direction.

Can’t wait to see what it looks like with that big ol’ ‘optimised for Series X’ sticker slapped on it ?

This wasn’t funny the first time you said it.

Nag learn how twitter works. No need reposting images that were already full sized.

Thats a crumby looking cover if true. But the game has potential to be an all timer.

I thought the gameplay looked fun, grappling hooks are cool, but a bit worried about open world possibility. More interested in the multiplayer which they didn’t show, I’d be happy if they had arena from halo 5 but make the radar bigger and remove the stupid run punch thing - but they won’t do that.

I see on Steam it has a pre-order page

I'll definitely check this out but I actually was kinda more curious and interested in the possibility of a Live game. I haven't played many of those other than FF so I'm not as burnt out as others are here.

Wait hold on, is it a live game?

IGN spoke with Halo Infinite Studio Head Chris Lee ahead of today’s long-awaited gameplay reveal of Halo Infinite. During that conversation, Lee revealed that Infinite is the last standalone release for the franchise for the foreseeable future.

“Halo Infinite is the start of our platform for the future,” he said. “We want Infinite to grow over time, versus going to those numbered titles and having all that segmentation that we had before. It’s really about creating Halo Infinite as the start of the next ten years for Halo and then building that as we go with our fans and community.”

This does not mean that Halo Infinite is a live service game, a la Destiny. But it does mean that new story experiences will be told underneath Infinite’s umbrella, and it also means Infinite will be evolved technologically for quite a while. 343 confirmed that Infinite will get a free raytracing update sometime after launch.

They say it ain;t while describing exactly what a live game is, lol

Yeah, The Banished leader or whoever that is made me tune out as well. Just in general I would like to know what’s going with the story. Honestly have no idea if this is a reboot, if this is a prequel, why do they focus so much on beardy-man. Totally lost.

This is just an utter disappointment on almost every level. I've always been more of a 343 than a Bungie guy and this just seems to mimic both the classic Bungie games while simultaneously also trying to fit in some current gaming trends. Add to that the fact it runs on current-gen tech, which only allows them to bump resolution and framerate on Series X (they can't even get rid of pop-ups due to how old everything underneath must be) then yeah, pretty bad showing for their premiere franchise. I will play it "thanks" to Game Pass which I got for 1€ but I doubt that's the reaction Microsoft would want from people after seeing a new Halo trailer.

Another thing that raises some questions is the very first trailer from 2018. I wonder if that was their initial vision for the game but shortly after that Microsoft came up with their cross-gen plan which in turn must have had a big impact on Infinite's development, maybe even resulting in the departure of the creative director.

Current Infinite is how I expected Metroid Prime 4 to look before Nintendo pulled the plug and restarted development. It's really that underwhelming IMO.

In spite of how it looks I will definitely be buying this, I haven't properly given Halo a go since 2007 and I bet my PC could do a decent run on this given how it looks. I'm super interested in the idea of it being a platform they release content updates for. I don't think that's as bad a thing as people make out sometimes, it's nice to have a regular cadence of new story content for a game you like.

(Unless it reviews really shit or something, then I definitely won't be buying it. I think it'll be alright)

This is pure speculation on my part but it seems to me that development was probably scrapped and restarted at some point.

I read on twitter today that the initial pitch for it was ‘Halo + Skyrim’ but I assume that was too ambitious and/or would’ve taken too many years so got thrown out and they started again a couple years back.

Just now, one-armed dwarf said:

To be honest it might also not be ready to show, this seems like one of those games where it can't get delayed for COVID reasons because it would ruin the Xbox launch.

True enough, it’s out in 4 months though ?
