Halo 4 - Plays great, looks great and sounds great. Story was utter crap though. Maybe get some people with a bit of personality in their voices if you are wanting an emotional story. Cortana was terrible and Chief sounded like an action hero 50 Cent, just droning on and on and never changing his tone.

But you know, pew pew pew whoosh bang booooooom!

Bioshock Infinite (PC)
Awesome spectacle. The art direction, the atmosphere, the city, the anachronistic music, Elizabeth & the bizarro ending were all great. I had a really good time playing through this in a couple of marathon sittings. I haven't done that in ages.

Thirty Flights of Loving (PC)

Cool idea. Great game? Hardly.

Yeah, the idea of messing around with storytelling and movie style jump-cuts back and forward in time is interesting, but it's so lacking in terms of interaction that you might as well just watch a video.

Also: I still don't really get the point of the gallery/museum section at the end.

Bioshock Infinite - It's high praise indeed that I'm still actively thinking about and processing a game I finished over the weekend. It may not wow with it's gameplay but that's never been Bioshock's strong suit. It's as serviceable and fun as it needs to be, but it's the story and the execution of it that lifts this game head and shoulders above the majority of other games. Deserves every ounce of praise and then some.

All today:

Sleeping Dogs: Year of the Snake DLC (PC)

A fun couple of hours of extra content. Shame you don't have access to the wider array of fighting moves you get in the main game, but it had a nice mix of content.

Mark of the Ninja (PC)

This is an awesome stealth game. The way they represent light and dark, enemy vision, and sound means you pretty much always know what's around you and where you are in relation, and feel totally bad ass and deadly and not like a blundering clumsy idiot like in a lot of 3D stealth games.

Quiet Please! (XBL Inide)

Short, sweet little adventure game. You control a girl who lives in a noisy household, and basically have to solve a small number of puzzles to shut everyone up before you can get some kip. It didn't take long to finish, but it's charming and entertaining while it lasts.

DLC Quest (XBL Indie)

Another short one. This is a cute, fun little 2D platformer poking fun at the trend for DLC/Microtransactions. You start off unable to do anything other than move right, anything else from: being able to move left or jump, animation, sound, pause button to weapons and maps are 'DLC' (paid for with coins you collect). It's pretty funny, well written, and there's actually a decent game in there. Well worth 80M$.

Gravity Bone

Thirty Flights of Loving - Not really sure what to make of these two games, not even sure I 'got' them. I like the aesthetic and sound design, but they were both to short and ended too abruptly. Bit of a disappointment after all the praise I'd heard for them.

Yep.

I thought the first one would make an excellent into for a game based around spies/intelligence agents etc. With a decent story and some interesting locations, it could have been promising.

Unfortunately, Thirty Flights is too caught up in trying to deliver a non-linear narrative like you might experience in film, that it sacrifices pretty much all interactivity to the point that you might as well just watch it as a film. But if you do that and examine the narrative, its not great. There's too much missing, and what's in there isn't that interesting apart from a couple of sequences.

I couldn't understand the way Idle Thumbs went crazy for it
