2K Games and Gearbox have today unveiled the ultra-special joy-puking editions of Borderlands 2, which will come in two distinct varieties: special and uber-mega-ultra-special limited boxy-box box edition.

The former, let's call it the Borderlands 2 Vault Hunter's Collectors Edition (because that's what it's called) will come with a selection of goodies, including an authentic Marcus Kincaid bobble head, an 'Inside the Vault' hardbound book, a map of Pandora, a set of stickers and a comic book download. It even comes with the game disc and a case to store it in, which is handy. It'll be priced at £64.99.

Meanwhile, if you're feeling flush and fancy something one (maybe even two) better than that, then you can grab the Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition, which comes with all of the above from the Collectors Edition, plus a scaled replica of the iconic red loot chest to store it all in. There's also a steelbook case (we love a nice steelbook), a 'Creatures of Pandora' wide-format ID chart, a lithograph postcard set, field notes from Sir Hammerlock, a fancy cloth map of Pandora and a numbered certificate of authenticity. This lot will set you back £99.99.

Pre-ordering Borderlands 2 will also grant you access to the Premiere Club, which grants you the Vault Hunter's Relic, a golden key and a Gearbox Gun Pack with unique weapon skins. Check it all out in the images below. Borderlands 2 is out on September 18th in North America and September 21st in Europe.

I finally tried Borderlands the other week when it was free on Steam for a weekend. I wasn't impressed.

The interface and UI (especially in the inventory and menus) were really poor for a pc game, and the opening set of missions very dull.

Shame really, as I like loot driven rpg type games, and the visual style was interesting. I'm going to have to wait for reviews and opinion on Borderlands 2.

there was a list, which might be in this thread somewhere not sure, that was an apology for the pc port of the first game and a list of improvements for the 2nd. I'm sure one of the first ones was the UI was going to be sorted out

not that that should be enough to get you to buy the sequel, as if you didn't like the first game why would you? (although see the bargain thread for the pc version cheap)

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-30-borderlands-2-dlc-add-ons-season-pass-pre-orders

2K and Gearbox have promised four add-on DLC packs for Borderlands 2, post-launch. There aren't any specific dates, but they'll all be out by June 2013, apparently.

2K has also announced a pre-order camapaign that gifts guns, goodies and the fifth, Mechromancer class - the one the "girlfriend mode" outburst was about. More on the pre-orders below.

Back to DLC.

"These four add-on content campaigns will each feature several hours of gameplay and introduce new adventures, allies, enemies and environments," the 2K press release promised.

Each DLC pack will cost $9.99 on PC and PS3 (no £ or € available yet), and 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80) on Xbox 360.

2K will also offer the option of buying the four DLC add-ons in bulk with a Season Pass. This costs $29.99 on PC and PS3, and 2400 Microsoft Points (£20.40) on Xbox 360.

Buying all four DLC packs without the Season Pass would cost $39.96 on PC and PS3, or 3200 Microsoft Points (£27.41).

Dare you risk shelling the money out upfront? Well, Borderlands 1 had great DLC - some of the best ever made.

Quick recap: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned (8/10), Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot (8/10), The Secret Armory of General Knoxx (9/10) and the not-quite-as-good Claptrap's New Robot Revolution (6/10).

Let's hope Gearbox can reproduce the same kind of DLC form.

Back to pre-orders. Pre-ordering either the Standard Edition or the Deluxe Vault Hunter's Edition grants you access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club. When you're in the Premiere Club you can download the Gearbox Gun Pack, the Vault Hunter's Relic (boosts gear-hunting fortune), a Golden Key (unlocks Golden Loot Chest in Sanctuary) and the Mechromancer class.

The pre-order campaign's honoured at GAME, HMV, Play, Amazon, ShopTo, Blockbuster and The Hut.

8/10 for Moxxi's Underdome Riot? Fuck off.
