KOTOR 2

I mean seriously, maybe I should pick good games.

But I bought it so I feel slightly guilty for not touching it.

Now I played through the first one, and enjoyed it. Got the hang of it, and then a few months later played Jade Empire, so I know what to expect.

So far, so similar, although the often heard about bugs have not shown yet, but it all seems a bit <_< , although I have yet to come to any of the plot death and story cuts.

Still looks good, plays fine, and am enjoying it.

More later...

Absolutely love this game, the story isnt as good as the first one, I didnt connect with who you are meant to be playing as. If you liked the first game then this improves on most of the game mechanics, although come the ending you wont be happy with the rushed ness, especially when you look into it and find that a proper ending is actually on the disc, along with two more full worlds.

Really getting into this. The plot is superior to KOTOR 1, with some good arguements about morality and the light and dark paths. Lots of double crossing and plot twists, some great movies. Kinda dreading coming up to the part where it all falls apart as a game....

This was among the 30+ Xbox discs that make up my collection, tha I installed onto the hard drive of my "upgraded" Xbox1 last week. I realised I've never even booted it up.

I'm quite tempted to give it a go now I've finished Okami. The first one kept me gripped for 2 weeks solid until I finished it.

And I'm done.

I really enjoyed this. I found elements of the dialogue superior to the first, some of the puzzle quite challenging, its just a shame that the ending feels so rushed and just a big killathon at the end. A few bugs, of which only one was major but fun all round. Ended up a Jedi Consual with Jedi Weaponmaster doing a minimum 80+ damage with a lightsaber.

Oh shit. They’re bringing the game to Switch with a “revamped ending”. Only for Switch?

So this game ends on a cliffhanger of sorts. Or I suppose just ends abruptly as they are about to introduce something very interesting. This version has “restored DLC”. I wonder if that’s what this is? It takes place after the end? I never knew there was DLC for the game, I thought every body experienced the same “oh my god I can’t believe it stopped there”. So I think this is actually new content?

If it is new content and expands on the ending awesome. Hope it’s great. But are the other versions not getting this too?

These games are so outdated now that if not played them before it might be hard to get. But for me this game is top 3 RPG of all time of any variety. This has the one of the best stories in games and I think the best Star Wars story full stop. Better than the movies and everything.

They are incredibly slow burns. I think first time I played this it took me 9 hours before I even got a lightsaber. But it goes in such dark and interesting places. The thing they’re talking about in the trailer as well, being a “wound in the Force”. Really good shit.

I was playing it a bit on PC around Christmas and was thinking about going back to it a few weeks ago. I guess now I’ll wait for this, but hope it’s coming to other platforms as well. It’s not a game I want to,play in handheld

I hope so. Reading more about it the team doing it are only the studio doing the other recent Star Wars Switch ports. Which explains why it’s only Switch, I guess this is what they specialise in.

Here’s a description

Quote

Port developer Aspyr has announced that the classic Obsidian Entertainment RPG, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (or KOTOR 2 for short), is coming to Nintendo Switch with a release date of June 8, 2022. Sweetening the deal, KOTOR 2“Restored Content DLC” will arrive post-launch on Switch as a free update. It will contain “new crew dialogue and interactions, a bonus mission starring HK-47, and a new revamped ending.”

I read somewhere it has HD cutscenes now as well

So the revamped ending is not the DLC. Not sure. I assume if it’s the same as the PC mods that’s better because this is just a port studio not the original writers and stuff. If they’re literally just finishing it on a technical level, great.

Excited for this. I might boot the PC version up and play some more today.

Another thing about it being in Switch is the Star Wars games are always in the charts. There must be a surprisingly strong overlap between Star Wars and Switch fans which is why the focus is here.

HK-47 is one of my fav video game supporting characters.

This the best thing to come out of Star Wars Celebration for me

From what I remember of hearing about the development of the game it was rushed out so they couldn't finish the proper ending but bits and pieces of it were in the finished code and I suppose hackers and modders got to it eventually.  So I suppose this dev could do something similar and maybe tidied up a bit more.  I know mods can be polished but I'm not sure this was since it just wasn't all there and I hope they took the opportunity to make it more robust.

But yeah, I like this news.  I actually played the first KotOR more so I was less interested when that remaster came out but I remember being more fond of this one when it came out so I'd be up for revisiting it.

I played the sequel first. I had no idea about these games at the time and just rented it because it said Star Wars on the box and I was in to SW at the time. I was completely absorbed. I remember spending about 2 hours just going through the opening level and being so puzzled as I’d never played a game like it before. I’d only played JRPG’s, I’d never seen a western one before.

Mix in all the Star Wars but it was all super dark it was like what is this game.

I wasn’t even enjoying or hating it at the beginning, I was just so confused. But then something clicked I was like oh shit this is amazing. Then after I played this twice (once good, once bad) I went and immediately rented the first game and played that twice through as well. They’re both just the highest tier of video game (or was) but I spent 2 weeks solid just playing these games and it was awesome.

I think the first one is better in some ways. That has more of a plot twist and Bastilla is an awesome character. The first game is also significantly different to any Star Wars story before it. But the sequel was the first one I played, it was so much darker which was cool, and has a more interesting ending. I think the sequel is better

I used to smoke a lot of weed in my teens and I knew this was different because I started it and didn’t have a joint for like 4 hours. That’s my metric for how good this game was I didn’t even think about smoking. That might not sound big but know that was profound. But this game just got me at the time. Incredible.

Will be rather pointless to pick this up on the 8th June, knowing that there will be content down the line that potentially improves the entire experience. Wonder why they didn't make that a bundle from the get-go.

Unlike maf though this game didn't stop me from doing drugs but made me start, because the loading times were so atrocious on Xbox I got into the habit of drinking coffee while playing RPGs.
