  1. I must of missed that thread, thats one to have a good think about. I've played some great games so far but my most anticipated games are yet to come. I guess its a good idea to remember these games released early in the year because they do get forgotten. I'll be back with a fine list.
  2. Lies, I know someone who works there and they were going to get me it with the staff discount but unfortunatly it is £37.99.
  3. Not much to say this week. The weekend usually sees friends coming 'round and we play Rock Band 2, we've hit a wall really but playing a bunch of songs we like is always fun, skimming through the DLC usually inspires playing it more too. The only other game I spent more than a few moments on is Flower, its great and I feel stupid for taking so long to get it. I wish I could put my finger on why I think its so good, why just floating around in these enviroments is so satisfying. maybe its just the way the music, graphics and sense of bonnie things comes together to make a chirpy and happy game.
  4. Which is next month, I'm struggling to count today.
  5. Oh fuck, I forgot about Uncharted 2. Might have to scrounge that one off someone as a present. I thought Forza 3 was next month?
  6. Even when hastily thrown together it sounds pretty good. I think I might try and scrape something together to get Batman, it does sound like the type of thing I'd like but I thought it would be the type of game that would be discounted pretty quickly but since the critics are loving it and it looks to be selling pretty well, I think I'm in for a long wait for it to hit the magic £17.99.

    Okamiden

I heard the name Okamiden thrown around and I assumed it would be on a home console. I'm not gonna knock this news though, some more Okami in any form is nice.
  8. So what does this actually mean? Nothing bar money going in Walt's account when the next Spiderman film hits the silver screen?
  9. I'm a little late with this one. I downloaded it on a whim and I have to say I'm pretty blown away by it. Everytime people talk about it they say how beautiful it is but even knowing all the praise it gets I still wasn't prepared for how lovely I found it. I think one of the reasons it took me so long to get it was the idea of controling it entirely with the sixaxis but thankfully it works brilliantly and I wouldn't want to control it any other way. I'm not sure abut the narrative either, I'm not sure what exactly but maybe I can make more sense of it on another play through which I will be doing because the Trophy list does point to a hidden level.

    Oasis

Both Gallaghers will still be doing some kind of project even if it is a proper split. I've never even owned an Oasis album so I can't say it effects me in any way.
  11. I tried the demo and I have to disagree with the idea it takes no skill, granted, early fights were easily won by button mashing but later on you really need to be careful about your combos and use your evasive moves or you will get seven shades knocked out of you. Its not much of a beat'em'up too, its like some DMC type thing but with a less fluid JRPG type combat system. I like it but I rarely play my handhelds so it isn't worth picking up, I probably will though when I see it for about a tenner.
  12. I finished Shadow Complex this week, its just the type of game I wanted to play, shame about the associated gay hate. I also completed Bionic Commando and mostly enjoyed it, its frustrating in parts but leaving it a day and coming back to it always did the trick. I can't decide whether I liked the quip he says when he encounters a particular boss. 'Is that a long health bar or are you just pleased to see me?'... no, I don't think I liked that. I've also been trying to play Bit. Trip Core on the Wii, I'd talk more about it but I can only last 5 minutes so I can't really say much except that it is much harder than Beat. Its just the simple fact that you have dots coming from four sides rather than just one. I'll play it a bit more to see if I can find some kind of zone to get into.
  13. Oh fecking hell, make my decision harder won't you?
  14. Triple postage. I came, I saw, I finished and I liked. The ending was nice and easy, it also made little sense. This is the first Bionic Commando game I've played and I'm now thinking of trying that remake kicking around in download land. It gave me my first gold Trophy too, nice.

    Mass Effect

The KoToR games had this arena idea as a sub-quest and I'm a bit gutted thats all there is to it. I probably won't bother if its broken aswell.
  16. So I'm very near the en now, probably over 90%. The last sections I did were both amazing and frustrating. I see where the difficulty critacisms are coming in, sometimes its very easy to die but if you really keep your wits about you and use all you abilities you will be fine. I remember seeing some reveiws saying that you can get through the game just using the same move but thats probably why they found it so difficult too, using you brains a bit in this dumb action game will help, a good keen eye on what you can grab onto helps too. For me this game is sitting with Ninja Gaiden II, it can get unfair at times but its also all the more satisfying for it. Dare I say it but as a single player, dumb fun game I think I'm enjoying it more than the mighty Gears of War.
  17. Could be, the 70's were crazy times.
  18. I stopped paying attention to the story with its laughable idea of liberation, it all seemed a bit Ben10. I only finished it the other day and I can't even remember the story. I just went into it wanting a big area to explore with ability based puzzles to solve, it supplied that so I'm a happy bunny.
  19. It was odd that they chose a multiplayer demo to plug the game, if the game didn't have multiplayer at all I don't think anyone would of noticed.
  20. For me this is going down as the most surprisingly brilliant games this year. I was put off by some average reveiws but I ended up pretty much loving it. I didn't to start with though, you spend the start of the game virtually powerless and it plays like a very last gen third person shooter and its only with the abilities you get later in the game does the whole game come together. There is alot of ways of killing something later on, flinging cars into mechs, flinginging a man in the air and pumping him full of lead before he hits the ground or swinging around taking out enemies like Spiderman... with a granade launcher. It is the swinging that makes it for me, this could be because I've never played any of the Spiderman games so its like all new and novel. Swooping around and getting a lock on a flying machine baddy with a rocket launcher and then doing a 180 firing them off and then catching some scenerie and swinging away was a great power trip. It has its bad points I guess, the enviroments are samey and there has been some harsh difficulty spikes and I think the story is shit but I've stopped paying attention to that. After playing this I'm a bit sad that Grin are dead, I know the Terminator game was meant to be garbage but this showed a great grasp of what a good action game should be.
  21. I've just finished it and I was ready to go for 100% but I think I did it wrong, I think I've missed something that I can't get now. I'm not starting again now but I probably will at a later date and 100% it then.

    Mass Effect

There is a resemblance there but I thought she looked more like Michelle Rodriguez.
  23. A Pokemon game is the only one I can think of that needs a big shake up. In mine the whole Gym Leader idea will be abolished and replaced with another way of progression, I dunno what just something else. TMs would be seperate to your battle moveset and most battles will be totally optional, unless you are in an action part of the story (say infiltrating a Team Rocket type head-quarters). Some long overdue 8-way movement will be put in along with some less static animation in the battles, NPC's will also talk less bollocks.
  24. I just played another demo. Wet is up on PSN, a game made by a bunch of guys who's back catalogue is a bunch of fluff that no-one has played, but then again it was the same with Dead Space and that was pretty good. I liked the demo of Wet, its one of those silly action games, I'll be getting it when it inevitably ends up being about £15 a couple of months after its release.
  25. Finished 'Splosion Man this week, I did see-saw with my oppinion but when it comes to whether I like it I think I have to give it a thumb up, its hard work and more frustrating than it deserves to be but I still enjoyed enough of my time with it, may try the multi next. More XBLA love with Shadow Complex, its iffy at times with its combat which there is a surprising amount of. Metroid: Other M needs to be use this as a benchmark and really improve on it, if it isn't as good it could be more than a little embarrasing. I had a go at a little more CoD4 multiplayer early on in the week, I had some great matches (one involving me going from 5th to 1st in the space of the last 30 seconds in a every-man death match, I can't remember the last time I stood up and punched the air over a game before). I also started playing Bionic Commando - the new one - and I think its pretty good so far, the shooting is a bit unremarkable but swinging about is good when I'm not swinging into iron girders looking like a fucking prick and not a Commando, Bionic or otherwise.
