    Saints Row Reboot

It always looked like a very basic, 360 era open world game. But so was Crackdown 3 and I kinda loved that. Playing types of games they don’t make anymore can be refreshing (if you liked those type of games in the first place) But I guess this isn’t fun kind of throwback. Just a boring, buggy mess. The late embargo really was a red flag on the quality of this game, but I was hoping to be surprised I could still go for it once the price drops and it gets patched but it’s going to be a while I think

    Saints Row Reboot

Yeah, this is what I was afraid of. Sounds like the game is going to need a few patches and a heavy discount for me to pick it up. Unless this for some reason sells really well I think this might be it for Saints Row, maybe this studio as well? Not like it’s even in my top 100 game series or it holds anything super important to gaming history, but RIP all the same

    New TV

Yeah Dolby Vision for things like D+ is why I want it. I didn’t realise it was bad for games? Not sure what the examples of those are. By the looks of it I’ll be getting a C1 looking online this afternoon. The C2 is better and I am tempted by the fact it’s brighter when using BFI but for the money I think I go with the C1

    New TV

Looks really nice but no Dolby Vision, no perfect blacks and that price is too much. Be sticking with OLED for the time being Today I saw they’re e doing something called QD OLED but they’re just brighter OLEDs and didn’t rate especially well for video games

    New TV

I was looking on EBay my TV goes anywhere between £600-£850. But I have no idea how to sell stuff. Especially something like a TV. But my friend knows how to do that and has other friends to sell things too. So I phoned him and was like “how do I do this?” And he went “I buy it for a £1000 and I can sell mine” I was like…err, for real? So now I got to look for a TV. A C2 is £400 more than a C1 but seems to be noticeably brighter with not as good BFI I dunno have to look in to it later. Cool, though 👍

    New TV

First that’s my friend so shut up Second my TV is in great condition. A little bit of banding but it’s only noticeable if the right kind of grey is on screen Third a £1000! I don’t think I can charge him that I’m good conscience. It’s a lot of money

    New TV

A friend of mine just said he’d buy my 2019 OLED off me for a £1000! I said yes please. Now I will need to buy a new one though. Dunno if I should get a LG C1 or a LG C2
  8. I just watched a cutscene where the main character said “You mean the world is…bad? I’ve never thought of it like that before” Oh my Christ. I have to imagine some of this is also down to the translation team. Like it can’t be this stupid in it’s original language, surely

    Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

They’ve had different Pokemon Championship things happening this weekend from the main game to TCG and whatever else there is. But I think for the first time ever they dropped a trailer exclusively around competitive play! Being able to substitute and switch out seems pretty big? Switching in to a Gyarados or something that’s already behind a sub so it can start Buffing itself seems potentially deadly. Also maybe it’s just for the trailer but they’re only showing 3 v 3 battles. Bah. Hope that’s just for the trailer. But GameFreak have this weird thing where they only like competitive play when it’s 3 v 3 singles or 4 v 4 doubles. 6 v 6 single or it’s not a real Pokemon battle if you ask me. Nothing Earth shaking here but surprising they actually went out of their way to make a trailer for their multi player. They don’t usually talk about it at all.

    The Quarry

😡 Please @nag I’m grieving my shit reaction times and poor decision making I just went back in to try correct the past. But it’s immediately unsatisfying and my investment is gone. Taking my butt hurt out of the equation though this game is really good. Liked it a whole lot

    The Quarry

Finished it. Half of everybody died. I suck at video games, man ☹️

    Saints Row Reboot

Not gonna lie, the lack of coverage 2 days before the game comes out is worrying. Feel like video game embargo’s are usually 3-5 days before the game comes out, right? Something like that. Seeing no reviews or anything is dropping my confidence in this game. I just need it to be like a solid 70 something. I’m not asking for the world from Saints Row. I just want a fun, open world, gangster game. Solid gameplay that has a fun hook.
  13. It’s been 2-3 years since I played this game and I still don’t really know what I think about it, mind about try make suggestions for someone else. I can say that the more you progress the more stuff opens up. I won’t go in to details but i’ll say it’s more than just walking. But it’s the same thing. Go back’ & forth, back & forth, don’t kick the baby. I actually like the first bit of the game the most though. I suppose some of that is because it’s the beginning so I was more open to what the game was, but what it’s trying to do did kind of work for me. There’s a real push and pull to the systems and when achieving things I felt like I earned it. Which is why the later part of the game doesn’t work as much. I’ll say for me I wouldn’t say I found the game relaxing, more almost meditative. The gameplay hits this middle ground where you have to concentrate enough but still leaves lots of room to think. Kind of like real life work. I got that kind of zoned in, satisfaction out of it. But I also hated the story from minute 1 and that never changed. That was the part of the game that made me angry. I dunno. It sort of defies everything you think a good video game would be and still managed to be good/interesting on some level. I don’t know if this helps at all but I’m always up for talking about how I don’t know what to say when it comes to Death Stranding I think is one of those games where each player will really have to play it to see what they think. It really isn’t like anything else, so it’s hard to recommend or say if it gets “better” or not.

    Dishonored 2

Lasted 35 minutes with this today. Got spotted 7 times which pissed me off in to turning it off. I thought playing on PC would be nice because of quick save but I realised the quick save overwrites itself *shakes head*. Also the game is nice that it keeps your stats so you can see if you’ve been spotted or killed someone. But it also keeps a “global” tab so even if you reload a save it keeps the actual number of fuck ups you made. Don’t show me that, c’mon. It’s bad enough I know I’m fucking up but then to be like “In case you forgot, this is the actual number of times you sucked at the game”. The first map is really mean. Big open area. 4 guards walking around. Broad day. No powers. Damn, man. I’ve played this game to completion before so this isn’t even my first time at it. I don’t remember it being this hard. But wow not a friendly game at all.
  15. Wow. How fast did you complete the game. I’ve played it every day this week and only at 40+ hours. I did reach chapter 4 last night, though, so some story progress. I think my opinion is pretty much the same as yours @spatular except by the way your post reads I’m enjoying it more. I can feel the burn out but I still keep coming back to it and playing it all the time. I just like the exploring, finding new characters, locations, etc. That’s really enjoyable to me. What is not enjoyable is the dialogue. Fucking hell. Even the voice acting in this game is as stereotypical anime as it gets because I’m sure the actors have no idea what they’re saying, so they just do their generic anime reads at it’s so…I can’t even find the words for it or nail it down in one. It’s lots of different types of crap writing and acting happening depending on the scene. Side quests I’ve given up on and just started buttoning through or outright skipping them. Save me the time. When I get to my deathbed I’m sure I won’t be lying there wondering what that one NPC was moaning about in that game. So let’s speed this up a bit and find some time saves. I’m still liking (kind of) the main story. That part is working, a little bit. It’s still full of dribble but the big cutscenes are well done and the action is framed really well. Can be very exciting. But yeah most things related to narrative in this game sucks super shit like I haven’t seen -sigh- in a very long time. But the game is good I keep playing it and coming back to it so not wholly negative. I just think the lack of good story will always hold this game back from being a truly great JRPG, because it’s a key element in these types of games

    Pokémon

Yeah, they’re fake. The Steel and Ghost ones aren’t bad designs, though
  17. I only had a quick Google but it looks like the PC version was published by 505 games? Which maybe is why Microsoft are getting a PC version but not a console version I would have given it a go if it were the DC but I’m not playing the original again
  18. Death Stranding coming to PC Gamepass

    Saints Row Reboot

Maybe I’m forgetting something but I can’t recall a game with a. Faction system that I’ve liked. They require the player to pay attention and know what’s going on. I just want to get on and play the game.

    Saints Row Reboot

I dunno I think morality systems feel really outdated and very 2008. They were the trend when Fallout 3, Fable 2 and Mass Effect 1 came out. Also this is a game about cartoon gangsters. Even if they’ll be the “good guys” a lot of the gameplay I’ve seen is running through the streets gunning people down. You can have faction systems maybe. But I don’t like those. I can’t be assed to deal with that stuff
  21. Nearly 40 hours in and still in chapter 3 lol. The thing I know about these games is the areas get bigger the further you get in to them as well. I’m going to have to mainline this game for a while and try harder to just get through it. Current status Might have over done it a little. Speaking of which check this chain attack damage. I’m getting good at this now This game can look pretty good as well (relatively speaking). Much better than how it looks in the beginning. Some tourist photos I will probably take a break from this game for a couple of days because I’m getting a bit burnt out playing so much, so quickly and knowing there’s so much further to go. But damn this game has dominated my free time all this week. It’s a really fun game.
  22. Immortals, Immortality and Midnight Fight Express are the games I’m interested in. Immortals I’ve wanted to try for ages. Immortality has me interested only because Edge gave it a 10. I just looked up a trailer for Midnight Fight, and maybe unfortunate it came out the same year as Sifu, but looks pretty cool still, especially for “free”

    Saints Row Reboot

Yeah, it’s going to take a really muted or bad response for me not to get it. I dunno. It looks very basic but I like basic.
  24. My team is so overpowered. I reached a point in the story where the characters were like “This way is dangerous, we should go the other way”. To reinforce that all the enemies in front on the dangerous path were now level 45+, where take two steps back and the enemies were level 22. But it didn’t work at all the high level enemies are just fuel for my machine. My characters had a slight struggle when they were level 39, but now they’re all level 41. Add to the fact that at level 40 a bunch of extra customisation stuff opens so I can use 3 gems and 3 master skills instead of 2 so my team are stronger still! I’m going to keep pushing the way it doesn’t want me to go just to see what happens. The other thing is my characters are cranking through their job classes and most have only 1 or 2 classes left to learn. I really need to find some attack classes because I’ve just got a team of indestructible defenders and healers. I really hope the game doesn’t work like this. But on the character stats screens there’s only a certain number of squares that shows what skills a character can learn. But mine are almost full and I haven’t got a 25% of the classes yet. I assume I can learn all the skills because why not. But looking at the stats screen it looks like everyone can only learn 1 more and they’re done. Surely not. I thought the combat system in this game was super smart. And I still think that. But I just had a bit where I tried to give my character an extra AoE buff skill and a message popped up saying “You can’t set any more field skills”. What. BotW and Hades have really effected me. I don’t like it when games tell me “No, you can’t do that”, especially when there’s no real reason for it. You should be able to stack things on top of things as long as it’s within the rules of the game. So I still think the combat system is smart and fun to play around with, but the fact it’s got so mashy and easy, and then finding arbitrary limits makes me value it less
