  1. The impression I get from reading some stuff is it sounds a little anemic, but what's in there is really good. It sounds like it needs some extra difficulty modes or something tbh. Last Raven was so replayable cause each route would be harder than the last. This game might encourage me to go back and finish that one off. Sounds tho this might benefit from a DLC type expansion later on down the line (which other AC games also did, albeit in the form of full retail releases like Silent Line in which you import your old mech parts)
  2. Oh yeah, it has those DS analog sticks. Stick drift could be fun, they better have an easy replacement system for that
  3. Yeah, God of War 2018 would be hell on this. Come to think of it Blakey mentioned getting it for Baldur's Gate. I don't recommend it, even on TV it's hard to read.
  4. yeah the stuff with Madison has revealed a culture of bullying and cliquey-ness over at LTT. One of the things which leaked is an audio of a meeting they had after she left and the advice given to people by Linus who are dealing with harassment is to approach your harasser and work it out between each other. Hopefully their hiatus drops them off the algorithm

    Alan Wake 2

Just like Control, this game is mad stylish and weird looking in the right kind of way. The live action blending in Control was great, made it feel like a weird sci-fi horror tv show Still have never managed to be able to get into AW1 tho. The trailer reminds me this is an EGS exclusive. Oh well, will have to fish out the login for that
  6. This game already had good shooting mechanics, so looks pretty neat here Maybe the RPG side will be good too now as well
  7. Interestingly I read a really positive impression on act 3 from someone who did 'Dark Urge', which means you're a serial killer who does things so unspeakable that limits the kinds of allies you can have. They speculate that the reason act 3 worked so well for them is the relative lack of NPC interactions cause they had so few friends and less reason for quest scripts to bug out due to there not being as many. So both the lack of bugs and streamlined content kind of helped in this instance Anyway I'm enjoying figuring out the low stakes adventuring of BG1 but Pathfinder was also on my list. Might just start BG3 all over again in a few months, there's enough meat in Act 1 to just do it all over again anyway. See if I can do it without save scums
  8. This was one of those ones I'd hoped they would do. Zero interest in replaying Portal but HL2 is worth looking at again I will say, and this seems like an issue with a lot of RT mods, it's overly dark looking. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/half-life-2-rtx-remix-in-development/ New assets also, presumably so it has the material properties for the light bouncing Also this is a mod, not a commercial release, so presumably it would take a long time to release
  9. I read somewhere it might be because of security, that it becomes harder to upgrade legacy systems to modern standards. I don't actually know why that would be though, or anything about payment security protocols. But on the face of it it's an explanation with some sense I suppose. Though I bet they could get it working if they really wanted to, and it seems like they don't
  10. Apparently Sons of Liberty is 30fps on Switch, which usually wouldn't seem strange but it ran at 60 on PS2 (50 in PAL territories) 🤔 Snake Eater was 30 back in the day tho
  11. Most of the extras are fluff, but it does come with the first expansion as well. Whether that expansion will be good or not, who knows. Look, I called it the 'Dickhead Edition' for a reason. But I was never going to use Game Pass for this. Even without the GP corruption bugs they often have different storage systems on PC that make a mess of installing mods, or at least I've found that in the past. There's no way I'm getting a version of a BGS game that I can't mod, even if I generally don't mod that much. Skyrim is crap on PC without Sky UI, Morrowind is crap if you can't shut the cliff racers up.
  12. According to online rumours the embargo for this is on Wednesday Have to say, this was my most hyped game of the year but I've sort of cooled on it in recent showings. Not sure why, maybe partly due to the quality of other releases this year (putting this between Baldurs Gate and Starfield is unfortunate) but it will be interesting to see how people rate it.
  13. I got basically to the end of Act 1 but put this down a few days ago, just cause of how many reports there are of quest destroying bugs and inconsistent storylines in act 3 (characters saying to rescue people who already got killed in a cutscene, stuff like that). There's too many reports of that in reviews (eurogamer, metro) and online discussion forums for it to just be a coincidence or bad luck That's such a bummer, it was really good but I don't want to put up with that. I'll wait for some patches, and in the meantime I'm playing Baldur's Gate 1. That'll take some time lol (i'm a level 4 Dwarven Defender, of course). Determined to get back when patches are out
  14. With a 2014 PC you'd be better served starting with CPU and mobo I think. Even less visually intensive stuff now can put a CPU through its cycles these days, I'm mad bottlenecked on Baldur's Gate 3
  15. Gamepass is broken on PC and keeps corrupting my storage, cba with it
  16. This is essentially just a port of the existing HD collection, even down to Konami not updating the copyright year on it (2012). 720p https://www.nintendolife.com/features/hands-on-metal-gear-solid-master-collection-vol-1-could-be-so-much-more-but-isnt At least it has Snake's Revenge tho, which might even be a sly little 'fuck you' to Kojima as he called it a crappy game lol
  17. PS5 pro depends on exclusives I guess. I thought FFXVI played and looked like absolute shit on PS5, and usually I'm forgiving of framerates but you couldn't see shit half the time in that game due to how it looked and ran. I wonder how it would have played on a 'Pro' I'd like a Switch 2, if it has backwards compatibility. Even just to play more Bayonetta 3, probably one of the most underrated games in that genre with how overlooked it was imo PC is ridiculous nowadays. So expensive now and the gulf between mid and high end when it comes to running the next gen stuff is disheartening in a way it's never been. I use mine for everything and it has 99 percent of my library, so I justify it like that. At least you can turn ray tracing off though, and get a really good CPU (AMD or Intel) and pair it with an AMD GPU cause they don't skimp on VRAM like Nvidia do. That's what I might start recommending at this stage, fuck nvidia. Maybe Intel's GPUs might start getting good soon as well
  18. I paid for the 'Digital Dickhead' edition, the one that unlocks early on September 1 for a cool 99 Euro Hope it's worth it 😬
  19. Man, I took a look at that phone now to see how much it costs outside of contract, cause my current one is acting up. Oof. Ouch. My bones, ow

    Alan Wake 2

Seems like it was releasing same week as Spiderman Zero interest in more Spidey but I get it. AW remains the only game in October I'm going to get Rough though for Alone in the Dark, lol

I've read that one Bellow. To be honest, not one of my faves, but I really liked Jude the Obscure which is also Thomas Hardy (not the Bane actor). I read that one real fast. Was considered a bit racy for the time, but Victorians are weird.
  22. Well, I kicked that squirrel into a rock and scattered its brains, so I will never hear its interesting life story I guess Was still pretty satisfied with my choice though.
  23. Well, here's a review which definitely has played past the first act. PC gamer gives it one of their highest scores of all time, only behind Half Life 2 and Crysis I think. This is going to be this year's Dark Souls I think, in terms of being a breakthrough hit which introduces lots of new players to a genre they might not have considered.
  24. Anyone watch Mandalore? He does lots of videos on CRPGs Watching some stuff looking at other games to follow up BG3 with
  25. Yeah I saw this. I had gone off him a bit cause I found him very sort of disingenuous in his videos, which he sort of plays into with the whole 'segue into sponsor' thing. But there's so many conflicts of interest outlined in the gamer nexus video that those feelings that he's just sort of selling hype rather than trying to inform customers becomes impossible to ignore. I stopped watching entirely sometime around them doing a 4090 benchmark video and all the numbers were wrong, so basically useless info. That's not getting into the disgraceful treatment of this high grade cooler company where he sells off the prototype and does not offer to compensate until after the video is released by GN, which came out in this follow up video yesterday His stance on the whole thing and reaction is maybe the most Trumpian kinda thing I've seen in this space. Unsubbed (tho I forgot I was subbed still in the first place for some reason). Some major affluenza, he just seems not a great dude really GN in general are a good channel, they had AMD's feet to the fire recently on an issue with Am5 motherboards blowing chips up, which made every AM5 provider rush to update their motherboards voltage settings. Asus had the worst example of this, which again was notably absent in any Linus coverage and learning that the current LTT CEO used to work for Asus is pretty illuminating there (edit actually that might be wrong, not sure where I got that from) edit also this culture sounds pretty horrible (it's a long thread)
