    Final Fantasy VI

Side Quests ..more than I expected! So now, I have the full cast. I didn't remember FF6 having 14 characters? But there you go. Just like I thought Gau was the Blue Mage of the game. He isn't. So I don't really know what you would classify his Rage abilities as if not Blue Magic?? Anyway, I thought at this point. I've only got the last dungeon. But no. Sprinkled secretly around the map are at least half a dozen side quests I've completed today. As much as I loathe them. The trophy list has been quite helpful for telling me when some people have maxed out their abilities. The list of Rage arts I have for Gau by now is very long. But apparently not complete? Next session, I'm going to work on completing the Blue Mage ability list.
  2. The villain looks good, I wonder how far they will go with representing her powers onscreen? Although the Marvels already said X-Men are in the MCU. It will be interesting to see how they explain that.
  3. That said, "Milky Way ghetto" did make me laugh.

    The Hot Topic Returns

Discounting birthday money (£99 for a SNES with LTTP and Mario All-Stars was the main one I remember). I think it was Eternal Darkness? I vaguely recall my brother and I used to pool our pocket money, so a lot of games we bought together. But ED was one I distinctly remember being alone in a shop when I picked it up (based purely on the box).

Yep. It's also the only instance of that in the game. It's not quite as obtuse as the similar situation Suikoden 1 gives you. But I doubt most people would even think about picking the second option. That scenario in particular, is one of the things fans have wanted to see in better graphics. Outside of maybe FF9, nothing like that typically happens in Final Fantasy. I was going to get into this a couple of days ago. The point I'm at in the game, I'm being given new party members.. and they're all useless. What's the point in new people in the second half of the game that can't equip espers? Use magic or weapons??
  8. Fall of The Mutants will/should include the original Lifedeath story. Which should give you some (cut) context. Similarly yes, The Adversary was nerfed pretty badly. Without spoilers it takes a lot to defeat him.
  9. @MafI've looked into this since. I got end of July as the release date. That's what I preordered anyway.

    The Anime Thread

    @one-armed dwarfAccurate?
  11. How?🤔 She affects none of the main characters. Nor the overarching plot. Just another weird monster in the Spencer Mansion. One that doesn't leave the Spencer Mansion. Like Yawn or the giant moth.

By that point, at least Terra and Celes had learned Raise. So I didn't really use the Phoenix Down for anything else anymore. The same strat works on the bone dragons they are normally paired with too. Also note that Regen acts like Poison to the Undead. As for the bit you mention: I could advise on who to bring and who not to worry about. But that would be too spoilery. However, I will stress this:
  13. I didn't mention new people adding OC's. I mentioned OC's being added that were clearly not in the same game as the original characters. Conceptually or otherwise. I bring up Persona, because Square have gone on record as saying turn-based doesn't work anymore. But the critical and commercial success of Persona (and Dragon Quest) clearly states otherwise. Food for thought: As for what is interesting and what isn't. For those that have played it (and possibly the original, too) is REmake 1 boring? Uninteresting? Redundant?
  14. Exactly this. Square has no idea what to do with FF at the moment. So it's a "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" approach. Which is why each has been so radically different and success has in turn varied wildly. Both Persona and Dragon Quest are examples of long running series that show you don't have to reinvent the wheel to innovate. You just have to stick with what you know works. Not something creatively bankrupt, vapid and superficial. Like the current remakes. Trading in on brand names to give merit to fanfic. Being from a creative background. I take a dim view on people trying to put their own stamp, or "new take" on someone else's earned success and passing it off as their own work. REmake 1 and FF4 DS showed the ideal for this era of nostalgia milking. The same game. Reinvented and refined from the ground up. The additions that were made IE Lisa Trevor, maintained the tone and aesthetic of the game itself. No "Poochies" or some such OC's that only detract from the original elements of the game.
  15. 🤮It works perfectly fine as a turn-based JRPG. No need to bastardise it. It's very simple what they should have done with FF6. What they did with FF3 & 4 on the DS. It doesn't have to be ultra realistic 4K nonsense. Just an upgrade from 2D SNES sprites.

Phoenix Down is your friend! The reappearing trait exists with a few monsters. I had a character that used a OHKO knife. It worked, then it didn't? There isn't really any explanation given in game either.

I think I'm ahead (by quite a bit), so if anyone else has questions, feel free.

🤔Maybe I was overlevelled at that point? None of that sequence (nor the Phantom Train) even dented my three parties. Kefka also fell pretty quickly with a couple of Blitz' to the face. Meanwhile, hit a roadblock (optional) boss. So I've broken away from the set path the game put me on and re-recruited some more of the crew (even a new one). Not much beyond that. Aside from lamenting the limitations of Esper spells that have no multiplier.

Two words: Stray Cat If you haven't got it, do so. If you have, use it. I must admit I have used a FAQ. Because there is a moment wherein you can permanently lose a party member. I couldn't remember offhand what the conditions were.

I did know to stop the grind, post-Esper.😉 Meanwhile, I'm on the Second half of the game now. Currently getting the band back together. Unfortunately I am stuck with one party member I'd rather not have. But this is a set party for the moment. Technically had to cut my session short. As I was killed by one boss and the fail state screen simply went blank and the game crashed.

I do love that fan art exists for this moment!
  22. X-Men '97 - Episode 6: Lifedeath Pt.2 So, obviously after the events of the last episode. A bit of a breather was needed. Now, in spite of the title. Storm gets short changed again. This isn't a full episode dedicated to the plight of Forge and herself. Instead it's basically the same as episode 4: a dual episode. Both stories are good. The other story is one of those times wherein it's obvious that the original voice actor has changed. It's not weaker VO ala Bishop and Jubilee. Merely noticeable. An interesting design shift for Storm coming out of it too. 7/10 @one-armed dwarfInteresting take on Wolverine's VO. Cal Dodd is one of the returning original cast members. In technically six seasons of X-Men, the longest serving one too. While not as jarring as the first Wolverine voice ala Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends and Pryde of the X-Men. If it wasn't the one you grew up with, you might not care for it. I was watching another video discussing the voices of X-Men TAS. Noting that most of the X-Men (aside from maybe Storm) were never the definitive Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill of their respective characters.
