Nag
Unfortunately that's how gaming has been for literally years now... better get used to it.🤷♂️
DANGERMAN
Fwiw I'm a bit surprised they didn't add it on the disc. It's likely got the more recent patches so why not add it Edit: Surprised is probably the wrong word, like Nag says, that's the modern industry 😅
OCH
Leaping from PS3 to PS5, essentially two console generations (sure I have the Switch, but Nintendo do their own thing anyway). This is just another one of those examples that I look at and think "people just accepted this??"
mfnick
It happened slowly. Just like micro transactions. Lots of complaining to start with but enough people accepted it over time or bought them anyway that eventually it became the norm.

That was the last time I used my PS3. The two are linked because that preorder arrived and my PS3 ceased working. Ever since picking up DeS remake (2020), it continues to be jarring how much console gaming has changed in the past 6-8 years. Not simply with hardware upgrades, like in previous generations. But in terms of DLC becoming a formality, season passes, microtransactions etc
one-armed dwarf
The industry is only going to keep changing in this direction, I don't expect physical media to even be a thing next gen. The digital PS and Xbox S are a sign of things to come.
DisturbedSwan
This was up on PSN for half price (£17) up until Monday. I ummed and arred about whether to buy it again but ultimately decided against it seeing as I've already finished it about 5 times.
one-armed dwarf
That looks like a pretty good VR conversion. Every one of these RE conversions is going to be compared to RE4 quest, the current gold standard imo.
OCH
Return to adventure! It's funny coming back to a game like RE after ..a while. I'd just survived the opening village sequence (AFAIK). Two things immediately struck me during this session. 1) I'd completely forgotten Werewolves were the default Zombie in this game. Walking through some tall grass, just exploring. I had a real WTF moment when one of them howled in my direction. 2) The added option to 3rd person wasn't really integrated flawlessly throughout. For example, at one point you meet these two survivors in a small shack. They refer to escaping to a larger building where other survivors dwell. Now I'm sure in 1st person, where to go next was likely clear to see. It took me about 5-10 minutes of wandering before I saw a hole in the nearby wall. Later in the same exchange, you have to climb up a burning building with another survivor in tow. The smoke effect looks really nice. The only problem being 3rd person visibility drops to zero. It took a few minutes again, before I noticed a further ram up. Anyway, I've just reached the Castlevania section of the game. Nicely well lit building, for a change. Genuinely surprised by the weird/creepy online reactions to Lady D, now I've actually seen her. Bit of a mundane design for a Vampire? In typical RE fashion though, I imagine she does a Birkin later. OCH
Min-maxing, because I can't help myself... Slow progress through Castlevania today. Chiefly because I'm assuming this isn't the Spencer Mansion and/or RCPD. The other "bosses" I briefly saw in an earlier cutscene don't look like they will all be fought here. So I've gone out of my way to blue every room on the map. Since I don't know when the point of no return is coming, I think it is better to be thorough now. Defeated one boss, with the power of a chilly breeze (apparently?) and I've just had a run in with Lady D. Wherein it put Ethan in a whole new light. Not overly keen on crafting over just picking up herbs and bullets. It is basically creating an unnecessary middle ground, for no real reason? Managed to buy all the upgrades for the Shotgun and Handgun. Although there are a couple of attachments from the merchant that I can't afford yet. His limited list of wares also informs that this castle is a level, not a central world hub.
Nag
Last game on my Resident Evil rerun (come on 9, where are you?)... and I've decided to play it in third person for the first time and you know what? It's pretty damn good. Plays like a slightly clunkier RE4R... which isn't entirely unexpected tbf. Looks great too.
