Final Fantasy XV

Great news, was really worried about this selling poorly with all the sales issues surrounding other games that have come out in October/November, I guess most people were saving their cash for this and Pokemon this year.

Hoping The Last Guardian sells well too next week, although I'd be very surprised if that breaks 1 million.

Ed must be buying about half a million copies on his own anyway.

Yeah very glad to see this selling and reviewing well, it certainly deserves it. 15th iteration in a series and they did something different with it, excellent.

I suppose it's relative when something is supposed to have sold poorly. Depends on your expectations. Didn't they say it was disappointing after Tomb Raider got about 5mil?

I think 5 million at this early stage is a great start. I don't think any Final Fantasy has broke double digits. Think VII was the highest at like 9+ million. Expecting to double digit isn't realistic. That's generally the realm of your exceptional cases like Nintendo/GTA/CoD.

Square Enix released a detailed roadmap of future updates coming to Final Fantasy XV today.

The briefing comes straight from director Hajime Tabata himself, who discusses the team’s short-, mid-, and long-term goals for the updates.

Get the details below.

■ Comment from Director Hajime Tabata

Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XV. Having shipped five million copies worldwide, Final Fantasy XV was truly able to achieve great results. To the many of you who purchased the game, I would like to express my sincerest thanks.

Currently, I am hearing that an exceedingly large bunch of players around the world are enjoying the game to their heart’s content. All of the staff are truly happy that with how content users are with this new way to play Final Fantasy.

As promised from before release, Final Fantasy XV is not going to be released and then that’s the end of it. From here one, we will continue to update the game to provide a richer gameplay experience to players around the world. And as thanks for surpassing five million copies, we decided to strengthen the update plan considerably beyond what we originally planned, and will share a concrete roadmap.

These are short-term, mid-term, and long-term updates separate from the previously reported downloadable content that make the Final Fantasy XV gameplay experience even richer and get you playing longer, together with updates based on requests from players after release, that we will offer free of charge.

Final Fantasy XV Update Roadmap

—Short-Term Goals

First, we will further increase the gameplay satisfaction level of Chapter 13. For that reason, we have already started work on many enhancements, such as significantly enhancing the power of ring magic and so on. We will announce details on these enhancements and when we plan to offer this update at a later time.

—Mid-Term Goals

We will enhance the presentation of the second half of the game, and further enhance the satsifaction level of the story experience. For example, we plan to add event scenes that depict things like, “Why does the character Ravus follow that fate?” Since we’re doing localization work to have voice support in all languages for the the added event scenes, we’re taking this on as a mid-term goal. Project details will be announced once they have been decided.

—Long-Term Goals

We will make important characters that appear in the main story of the game available to use as playable characters. Also, we will consider adding an avatar system to create an original character to play the game.

In addition to this, we plan to actively continue updates so that players can enjoy Final Fantasy XV over a long period of time.

—Other

Play a new game while carrying over your status from a cleared game. We will offer various items that expand the breadth of gameplay, like for low-level clears and invincible suits. We will increase the font size so that messages are easier to read.

We will offer content such as boss battles complete with rewards and results, limited time mob hunts, etc. in order for you to enjoy the game live.

It should be noted that the already announced downloadable content will be released as originally planned.

  • Final Fantasy XV Holiday Pack (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Booster Pack (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Episode Gladiolus (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Episode Ignis (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Episode Prompto (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Online Expansion Pack: War Buddy (tentative)

From all of the staff to every one of the players around the world, we hope that you will enjoy Final Fantasy XV more and more. From now on, please give Final Fantasy XV, as well as the Final Fantasy series, your best regards.

Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata

Reading that I can't help but feel like it's not Something I'm going to get anything out of. I'll have finished it by the time they release content to improve satisfaction and later parts of the game. It ain't a game I'll be playing through again anytime soon. So, Yeah. Cheers.

There are a lot of exciting things on the horizon for Final Fantasy XV, even after its release last year. Alongside a new photomode, the Moogle Chocobo Carnival will be a holiday event for those looking for a little bit of distraction while waiting for bigger, better things on the horizon. We are still in the dark about any patches with respect to the Playstation 4 Pro, unfortunately.

We detailed the Carnival here. The short summary is that you will need to have access to the "Holiday Pack" add-on (a free download) in order to obtain the Carnival Passport needed to partake in the festival, which takes place in Altissa.

The update that changes Final Fantasy 15's divisive Chapter 13 is live.

Update version 1.06 adds Chapter 13, Verse 2. This is an alternate route featuring Gladiolus. Previously you played through the chapter solo.

Elsewhere, the update enhances Arcana spells (Alterna, Holy and Death) and announces the winning snapshots from the game's first photo contest (you can view them at Takka's Pit Stop in Hammerhead.

The trailer, below, runs through the additions.

Today's update sets up tomorrow's DLC, Episode Gladiolus. This is Final Fantasy 15's first character-focused add-on.

Final Fantasy XV multiplayer expansion, “Comrades” will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 31, Square Enix announced.

The expansion will be available to players who purchased Final Fantasy XV and the Final Fantasy XV Season Pass, or can be purchased separately. A PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold membership is required to play.

In “Comrades,” players will set foot as a survivor from the Kingsglaive to find out more about the disappearance of Noctis after the events in Chapter 13 from the main game.

Players will equip royal sigils that grant special powers from the Lucian bloodline, and can then strategize and create a balanced team to take on a variety of quests. In addition to multiplayer quests, single-player quests are also available for players to enhance their characters.
