Hendo Posted December 9, 2010 Share Posted December 9, 2010 Here’s what we can tell you: First off, obviously the title is not “Uncharted 3: World of Deceit,” as has been rumored here and there on the Internet. Still: Good guessing with the “deceit” thing. According to Naughty Dog’s creative director Ann Hennig, the theme of deception plays out in multiple ways throughout the threequel, from Drake doing the deceiving to Drake being deceived to some mysterious deception about Drake’s very identity. The story focuses on the hero’s relationship with his mentor and father figure, fan fave Victor “Sully” Sullivan, and has him searching for a legendary lost city that will ultimately take him to the Arabian Peninsula and the vast wasteland of the Rub’ al Khali Desert, also known as the Empty Quarter. (Said legendary lost city has been known by various names, including “Iram of the Pillars” and the “Atlantis of the Sands") The setting draws inspiration from Lawrence of Arabia as our hero, Drake, and his good friend Sully, explore the Arabian peninsula - also known as the Atlantis of the Sands."When we first came up with the idea of sand, you see everyone's eyes light up here and go, 'Yeah, that's going to be really hard - let's do it!,'" Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig told Entertainment Weekly. "We're a bunch of nerds," added ND co-president Evan Wells. "We just look for something that will be a technical, artistic challenge, and allowed us to push into an area of the world and history we've never tapped into before." As well as create an elaborate and no doubt gorgeous treasure hunt, Naughty Dog also wants Uncharted 3 to make serious strides with multiplayer and co-op. "We want to take on the big boys of the multiplayer genre," said Wells. "It has become something here at Naughty Dog that will become an important part to all our games." Other innovations include enhanced backward climbing and the ability to fight multiple enemies at once. HandsomeDead Posted July 8, 2011 Share Posted July 8, 2011 The multiplayer beta is up on the PSN store for those that want to try it. I've given it a few rounds and I think it's good, but I don't think I'd play it religiously. I quite like the multiplayer in Uncharted 2 ans it seems to be more of the same, plus killstreaks and persistent unlocks. I'm not into the killstreaks, could do without them. As before the environment traversal adds a cool layer of play to a competitive shooter, and there is even a map that takes place on a plane making its way up a runway surrounded by moving vehicles, so its that level with the trucks from U2 in a deathmatch; which, to be honest, is bloody cool. So its good, but as someone who isn't into the singleplayer I don't think it's strong enough to make me get it for that alone. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've only had a couple games, but from someone who hasn't played Uncharted 2 multiplayer, I was quite impressed. The EU release date has been brought forward a couple days, to November 2nd. We had a little help from our friend Nolan North, otherwise known as Nathan Drake in the UNCHARTED games. I can see where they're going with this, and it almost works, but...first impressions are that's ugly as hell. No word yet on a Western release, though given the title in question, it'd be strange for it to be released only in Japan. Pictures in the link. I'll save you the time though, it looks bloody awful.
