New DLC leaked...

Screen grabs supposedly taken from a leaked trailer for Fallout: New Vegas' next DLC, entitled 'Honest Hearts' have emerged on Fallout fansite Duck and Cover, fuelling speculation that an official announcement and trailer for the add-on could be imminent.

Apparently, Honest Hearts will be the second in a total of four planned add-on packs for Fallout: New Vegas, with Dead Money already available and two more set to release following Honest Hearts. The final two are rumoured to be called 'Old World Blues' and 'Lonesome Road'.

It's also thought that Fallout: New Vegas Honest Hearts will be set in the fictional New Canaan in Utah where Bethesda is currently holding a special press event. Lead Designer Josh Sawyer tweeted, "every time someone asks me about future DLC announcements, the ghost of Joshua Graham sighs in the desert and scares a tribal to death."

This could be teasing Joshua Graham as a character who will feature in the DLC. You might also know him as 'the Burned Man', who was defeated at Hoover Dam and executed by Caesar, set alight and hurled into the Grand Canyon. We'll have more on Fallout: New Vegas Honest Hearts as soon as Bethesda releases official information. Stay tuned!

I picked this up again in the Steam sale with the DLC, I might just reload an old save and do the ending a little different before starting on the DLC. but until then:

Rio Ferdinand's Adventures in the Wasteland

<img src="http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/540647897231369704/8436104193ED415F3BE677C315A7D894B569940F/">

The wasteland hasn't been kind to Rio, he looks nothing like his old England captaining self, even less so in the screen cap

Rio wakes up to Mike Phelan asking him some questions, truth be told it's his fault Rio's face is the way it is, but at least he's wearing trousers for once in his life so Rio forgives him and heads over to the trait machine.

<img src="http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/540647897231777952/4A841CFC6240D739F2D612881A63F1C632CCCA62/">

He's no Vidic but Rio is pretty stacked, you need to be to be the best centre back in world football today

If there's one thing Rio's got it's #movement you can't stay on your feet without it

Satisfied that Rio's returned to pre-season training fit and healthy, Phelan takes him to the psychologists couch to see if he's mentally prepared. Jokes on him, Rio's always mentally prepared.

Rio's asked what he sees in the ink splot. Truth is he sees the himself and Giggsy kissing the Champions League trophy, but he needs the stats so says shadow in doorway

This time it's the Da Silva twins high fiving after the FA Cup game against Arsenal last season. Both were immense

Rio's asked if he likes to be the centre of attention. He's hardly Becks but over 1,000,000 followers on twitter means he's pretty popular #oooff!

<img src="http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/540647897231709407/AD191753CE63F2C6614CEF6F87A9F32121A0C934/">

He's then asked if he jumps right in when he sees an enemy. No bruv, you STAY ON YOUR FEET!

With that he mugs Mike Phelan off and heads out into the wasteland

Fist person he meets is Easy Pete, or Peter Beardsley as Rio humorously dubs him

Rio Ferdinand's Adventures in the Wasteland - Part 2

Rio heads inside the bar and bumps into former Leeds legend Harry Kewell. Harry's not doing much now since being released by Galatasaray and it's clear he's been here some time. Rio asks whether Harry's still married to that bird off Emmerdale, Harry starts muttering something about how she never got over Marlon so Rio makes his excuses and leaves

Rio then logs in to his Android App

Not bad, at least he's not going to be talked about in the same bracket as Tevez and Ribery anymore

With his face sorted Rio decides to go for a walk to stretch his legs when who should he bump in to...

That no good Joey Barton. Joey looks a bit shifty, he's clutching a McDonald's bag but there's blood on his knuckles

Joey says he's lost the toy from his happy meal, he thinks he's left it up on a ledge. The problem is that the place is swarming with geckos and what with Joey being a pacifist and all he couldn't possibly get it back himself

With a roll of his eyes Rio tells him to 'man up bruv' before setting off to get Joey's Lightning Mcqueen toy

BRAPP

True to form it was all just a trap so Joey Barton could steal Rio's England caps

It is true that Barton is a bit crippled in the head, but pointing it out is just cruel.

Either way Joey's learnt his lesson, you don't merk the merker

Cheers guys, I'm hoping that having played it before I might be able to work out some sort of narrative for one of the quests rather than trying to react quick enough to capture a screen I can think of something good for

you should give this its own website.

dont suppose you've still got web space have you? If not I might stick it up on a blog and keep the images linked to steam

Edit: also I'd forgot how often Fallout makes me jump. There's been a couple of times the fight music has sounded, I've span around confused looking for what's triggered it on my compass, only for there to be a massive Radscorpian directly behind me

I've registered Rios-adventures.co.uk and we're transferring it to Jims webspace over the next few days (there's nothing there yet).

Hopefully we'll be able to get something up on there fairly quickly (I'll be working on it in a bit). But I'll still post at least one more part on here over the next couple of days

I got the Old World Blues dlc for this (it's on offer on for a few days because of QuakeCon)

First up it's very funny, there's maybe a bit too much talking at the start, but it's very good. You seem to get a lot of content too, I fully expect this to take me longer to complete (assume I do some side quests) than most modern retail games. The map isn't all that big, and there might be a few too many enemies considering how strong they are, but at least it means there's always something to do.

One negative was one of the missions I attempted, I won't be too specific so as not to spoil things, but I had to do a 'test', and once that was done the 2nd part was an 'advanced test'. Basically the same thing with a few added robots. However, the next main mission I attempted was both shorter and less annoying, in fact it showed why you might need a heavy enemy populace even if they do seem to spawn a bit too quickly.

The reason I'm posting though is because of one of the games comedy moments. In a side mission I had to find evidence of Gabe

Gabe is/was a dog, one of the brain in a jars dogs, and he would like a memento. So as a side quest you can go to a fake town, I think it's a redo of the town from the virtual world part of Fallout 3, it's very similar, 50's picturesque white picket fences and all that. It's creepy as fuck even though it's actually deserted... until you approach Gabe's kennel.

All of a sudden rushing out of the kennel is a mini-Deathclaw, a very Gremlin looking Deathclaw called Stripe (the name of the evil mogwai/gremlin from the film) complete with "chicken leg" that he's been eating. Stripe is insanely strong, but worth the effort to see I think

You might need the Wild Wasteland perk to see it (selected at the start of the game)

A few thoughts on Old World Blues, again I'll be vague in case anybody gets this eventually.

It's brilliantly funny, kind of like a Futurama episode at points, it also throws loads of Wild Wasteland stuff at you if you have that perk. The problems with it kind of focus on the wasteland of Big MT not really being very big. The area isn't small by any means, but there isn't much space between one location and another. Consequently there's a lot of enemies milling about, and some seem to spawn from no where just to keep you busy.

The same thing happens indoors too, there's quite a few occasions (the plot based ones involving the scorpions I can forgive) where enemies will just appear behind you if you trigger something. It's annoying, made worse because you're dealing with some of the games toughest enemies, and a lot of what you're using as armour and weaponry are unique, so repairs aren't going to happen.

The most tedious part though focused on some of the main quests. You get sent to facilities dotted around Big Mt, some can be fairly innocuous, but some are test chambers. In one of those test chambers I had to do the test 4 times (I might have done a bonus 2 to make it 6, I forget), it does mention why in the outro, but it still reeks of game lengthening, and it's not the only example of it.

There's some great boss fights though, some new weapons (one or two better than others) and some awesome new armour. It also sets up for what might well be the final DLC (it's certainly hinted at as being the final tale for the courier), a bit of story they didn't even attempt to tie up in the main game

Finished Honest Hearts and Lonesome Road this weekend.

Honest Hearts is kind of a native american tale. There's a few tribes at war, a couple are united and led by 2 New Canaanites (a religious order). I wont spoil who they are as one of them is mentioned in the main game, but one wants the friendly tribes to leave the region (it's in Utah somewhere, cant remember the name), one wants them to stay and fight for the land. It's not much of a choice really, it felt a bit stuck in like they had to give you a dilemma. The one wanting to leave complains that you'll be killing innocent people if you take on the other tribe, but as that tribe has already wiped out your party for no reason, and will attack you on sight, it's a bit of an empty threat (Note: this might play differently if you're aligned with the Legion).

That being said it's probably the best of the dlc. It looks great, and most importantly it looks different from the rest of the game. That said there isn't a huge amount to do there, it just feels a bit lighter than some of the others. The only other thing to mention is that I was about level 46 (out of 50) when I started it, and it's the 2nd dlc, so some enemies that should have been more of a challenge were pretty easy. The Yao Guai (the bear things from Fallout 3) used to be terrifying, they were lightning quick and really strong, now 2 shots with my Cowboy Repeater is enough to kill them.

Lonesome Road is both more linear and more open than HH. You basically have one route through, and each mission leads to the next mission, there's little room for choice in how you approach it. At the same time though it offers environmental dangers you can make the most of to off enemies, and loads of secret areas to find. The best thing about it is ED-E, I've got him on the outside (and you cant bring him in), but there's a clone of him to find that brings a bit of humour. The new enemies are strong, oh and there's a few Deathclaws milling about, they even use them in set pieces, and even at the max level they still represent a massive danger.

I liked Lonesome Road, it's taken a bit of shit and it doesn't really explain who the courier is. It doesn't even do a particularly good job of explaining 'the why of it', why you've been called there and what courier 5 has against you, instead throwing in some more mystery in to your background that never really gets the detail it needs. The challenge and tone make it a fitting end, even if Old World Blues is where the epic boss fights are.

Time to push on with the main game and secure the damn B)

and finished.

Last time I completed it I didn't have the option to join the NCR and get that ending, the only mission I had was to help Yes Man, same thing happened this time. Turns out, shockingly, it's a bug and when I was offered amnesty by the legion I should also have been invited to the NCR's embassy. That didn't happen and I was left with just the Yes Man mission, but a trip to google told me that I could just head to the embassy (and where the embassy was) and force the situation myself. From there I had to fanny about across the map a bit, fortunately most of it was already done for Yes Man, then it was the end game missions.

Great game, better than Fallout 3 in just about every way, and getting the NCR ending felt like it fitted more than the Yes Man one
