Craymen Edge
I liked that, not the kind of stuff I spend a lot of time listening to but could see me getting into it. I've been listening to music from before I was born: Spencer Davis Group - I'm a Man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzN0mMx-sJg I saw Steve Winwood at a festival in Switzerland over a decade ago now, he was fantastic. Hendo
I vaguely recognise that track. The bass and drums are brilliant! Today I give you Led Zeppelin's "The Ocean". <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qpC4C95SQ5k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hendo
Don't think I've posted this before. I'm planning on covering it with me band. Considering it's from the eighties it really hasn't aged that badly, a lack of drum machines probably. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/aX1PwkgwsG0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Sly Reflex
I know what you mean. My choice isn't even 12 months older I don't think, yet it very much defines the era where all bands were dead keen on the synthesizer. I ages the hell out of some songs. Not that that is a bad thing. Good pick though Hendo, I reckon you could pull it off with the band.
Hendo
I like Talking Heads but I have to say I prefer the Tom Jones and Cardigans version of that. Which brings me on to.... <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/x9ZwORlV4GE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
stoobie
I'm a big fan of the Cardigans - an ex-girlfriend bought me Life ages ago and I have seen them a few times - the best at the first V festival when they were touring the First Band on the Moon album. It was a very 90s festival with Pulp and Elastica headlining :0 I also saw Menswear, Kula Shakur and this lot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE56w0Y74SE
DANGERMAN
I'm a big fan of the Cardigans - an ex-girlfriend bought me Life ages ago you do realise she'll always blame herself I used to fancy the shit out of Louise from Sleeper, I think it's her giant eyes. I don't like creepy Winton in that video though It's a good song, I don't think I was old enough to appreciate it when it came out, so I never really took to Sleeper, but yeah I liked that. Very 90's, which isn't necessarily a bad thing I've gone for the live version of Joga by Bjork, simply because the official version has a break in it that isn't all that fucking Bjork man
Sly Reflex
I like Bjork, but she scares the fucking shit out of me. She makes 95% of all women look that soft auntie everyone has that's the nicest person in the world because she never shouts or gets angry. I often wonder if men (or indeed women in bjorks case) stay away because they know what a fucking handful they can be. Sticking with the weirdo vibe, I give you the Maels. Hendo
Love that song! Ron Mael is a dude, bet he scared the crap out of 70's kids. What the hell were they doing on a show about disco?! I'm going with a contender for gayest song ever produced. It won't win that award, but it's up there. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/a84L1hVVEls" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I don't dislike it, but it's very much of its time, and like you say, it's got a lot of baggage to it now that influences how you hear it From the mighty Dead Man's Shoes
Craymen Edge
From the mighty Dead Man's Shoes I liked that a lot, so chilled and calming. For some reason this has been going through my head all day. Tom Petty- Dont Do Me Like That
Hendo
That's not my favourite Petty song, seems to go by without making much of an impression. I'll bounce from Petty to Travelling Willburys and onto Roy Orbison. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0e3Wu8lP0WE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Chinzon
Gotta love the Big O. Funny enough, this one's been rattling around my head for the last few weeks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LExf_en46Q On a related note, Jennifer Connelly is hot hot hot. Hendo
Yep, she was and still is hot. Another quality Orbison tune, nothing else to say really! Using Michael from Joypod's #classicindie tag for todays. Hendo
This was the woman who supported Ben Folds when me and Jim saw him live. I think she proves quite well that the lyrics in the song are a downright lie. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KySUDP2oxNI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
HandsomeDead
So what do I critique? I like that Carter USM song, it's just one of those high octane, anti-establishment songs, a bit tacky in delivery but ultimately fun. I didn't like that second video one bit. She seems nice but unfortunately it's an uncultured twit like me doing the judging so she fails!!! But good luck to her. I pick this *air drums* <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xW2AKkwJb_c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
DANGERMAN
Hmm, i didn't like that as much as I expected. It might be because it's outdoors and so has lost some of the weight in the high end. Also I don't know it so it's not as sing a long as some of their other stuff. Not bad or anything, and I can imagine it being fun on Rock Band, I also think I'd enjoy the album version more Taken from the best album I heard last year (In The Aeroplane Over The Sky) but actually came out at some point in the 90s
Hendo
I liked that, it's my kind of thing, but I was hoping for a full band to kick in, it didn't sound right having a song played like that with no drums and bass at least. Found this on an NPR podcast - "Whale" by Yellow Ostrich. The rhythms are nuts after a while. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/802K9tDt5G4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hendo
New Arctic Monkeys song for today.
