stoobie
Anyone willing to bet that the last 4 will be taken off and just Sonic left? Everything still seems pointing to a remake of the first game to me. But given Sonic Team's track record, that could be dodgy ground. Seems you were right - its Sonic only according to Digital Spy.Plus the one piece of concept art is reminiscent of Sonic 1.

Sly Reflex
Apparently there has been leaks that have been taken down as soon as they were noticed. http://seganerds.thekartel.com/go/thread/view/87386/22196929/Project_Needlemouse_Character_Countdown&post_num=51#387445889 BTW - For anyone wondering if we've missed this story (because it's still not on the front page) we haven't. But we haven't posted it yet because SEGAOnline has warned us not to - apparently the SEGAOnline guys have never seen (and I quote) "such a shit storm over a leak" - SEGA are really putting their foot down on this one.I was also pre-warned by a SEGA employee that it's best not to post it just yet. But hopefully we can post something soon, maybe when Famitsu reveals it (like they always do) and SEGA can't do anything to stop them. No Wii version, back to the old episodes and apparently it follows on from where Sonic 3/Sonic and Knuckles left off. Still plenty of time for them to fuck it up, but it's sounding good so far. Hendo
It's not much of a leak though, is it? They already said it was HD which takes the Wii out of the picture, they've said it's Sonic only and it goes back to the old games, so I don't know why they shat themselves over it. Unless of course, it was a planned leak.
Sly Reflex
Dunno, I guess only time will tell.
Hendo
What I didn't know before I read that, it's meant to be a download game and sold in bits. I think if they actually call it Sonic 4 it's got a hell of a lot more to live up to.
Sly Reflex
I actually fucked that up, I thought they meant they had separated it into episode, but got mixed up with the acts that the original games were split up into. It's a shitty move if it evolves from rumour.
Sly Reflex
Here we go. God bless google and its cache. http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:BBOu3xkKCKMJ:www.tssznews.com/2010/01/22/eu-report-dishes-on-project-needlemouse/ Download Only? Sonic 4? Zone Names? All InsideUPDATE: Though we have not yet received any cease and desist orders from Sega itself, we have been asked by the original source to remove our story–as they now have–and that request is being considered. At the same time, TSSZ News has learned of information that would confirm some, if not all of the below information–information we are trying to independently verify, and for that reason cannot yet disclose. Be assured we aren’t sitting by idly–we are working hard to bring you the latest details. Our original story follows below. —– Let’s get right to it: The Dutch website SegaOnline is citing an anonymous source that is claiming to know a lot more about Project Needlemouse than anyone right now. We’d like to share that information with you. Their report states that Needlemouse will be called Sonic 4. That had been referred to as an internal name by 1UP.com yesterday. SegaOnline’s source claims that the game will only be for XBOX Live and the Playstation Network. That is something that has been hinted at previously by Sega employees. It looks increasingly likely that Wii users will be shutout of the next proper Sonic. But here’s something no one saw coming–the game will be the first in a series. Their source claims a name of Sonic 4: Episode 1. While that indicates piecemeal content, the downloads will be a full game, according to the information SegaOnline sent into us via News Tips: Sonic 4 Episode 1, is going to be a full game. So that means 7 chaos emeralds and of course the purpose of defeating Dr. Eggman. You start in the Splash Hill Zone and finish in the E.G.G. Station zone. Yes, those are zone names. Splash Hill Zone and E.G.G. Station Zone appear to be in, according to the source. We don’t know how many other zones are to be expected, but 7 with some special stages in the mix may be a good bet right now. Their information claims the classic structure of acts and zones will be returning, but it’s not clear whether that means a 3 act or 2 act structure. They, like us, are treating the information as rumor because of the nature of the source, and Sega has yet to comment on the report. However, in recent days, SegaOnline has been a very reliable source on Sonic information; they were first in the world to reveal Sonic Adventure’s re-release to XBOX Live before it was C&Ded, and proper screenshots were released. That’s why we’re taking the information seriously, and that’s why you should too. We will wait for word from Sega on this story, a developing story. TSSZ News will follow up with anything more that we hear. We give great thanks to SegaOnline for tipping us off via our News Tips system.
Craymen Edge
Wow, I missed a lot of stuff since the teaser image. It's funny how everyone still is waiting for them to announce how they're going to fuck it all up this time. Still slightly disappointed that it didn't turn out to be this: http://i27.tinypic.com/b7f0g8.jpg
David
Nah, I don't think this is a remake of the first somehow. Also, I'm not exactly complaining that only Sonic is playable per se, but Knuckles and Tails were fun to play as back in the day.

DANGERMAN
I cant help think they've put extra pressure on the game by calling it Sonic 4. Does look nice tho
Jimboxy
i think so long as it stays true to its roots, it'll be good. looks like it'll be great fun. Well done sega.

retroed
Yeah that works, thanks Ben. It looks pretty ace, well looking forward to it. HD Sonic, but it'll be on WiiWare as well as XBLA/PSN? Jimboxy
how does sonic cannon work, does sonic and knuckles not count or something?
DANGERMAN
I think it goes like this. Eggman stole the emeralds, sonic stopped him. Eggman stole the emeralds again, Sonic and Tails stopped him. Eggman once again stole the emeralds, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles stopped him, but on this occasion Sonic and Knuckles went off and did some stuff without Tails (not the "stuff" you see on the net, just platforming around pyramids and the like). Oh and at one point Sonic went to the future, to stop Eggman who'd stole the emeralds, but I'm not sure where Sonic CD fits in. Tbh it's not exactly Metal Gear
David
how does sonic cannon work, does sonic and knuckles not count or something? Sonic and Knuckles is Sonic 3: Episode 2 if you like. They're technically the same game, just separated due to problems during development.
