I still haven't seen Casino Royale, so it's still a bit shocking to see a serious Bond film. A lot's changed since Roger "smaaaaaaaarm" Moore, hasn't it? David Posted November 2, 2008 Share Posted November 2, 2008 I saw this today. First of all, despite what the internet would have you believe, it's not shit IMO. Bear in mind it's no Casino Royale though. The story is basically a sequel to CR, so I'd watch that again before seeing this. I didn't, and hence I was somewhat confused all of the way through it. It's short, has a decent story and is basically escapism for a while. Daniel Craig as Bond is great, he really is the closest to Fleming's original books. A cunt, basically. So yeah, if you go expecting Casino Royale again, you'll be disappointed, but if you go and expect it to be a fun action movie, you'll enjoy it. It didnt seem emotional enough in a way like the old one. Some bits looked really bad as well, such as omg 3 seconds from the floor, open the parachute, SPLAT, im ok! Oliath Posted November 3, 2008 Share Posted November 3, 2008 Yeah im pretty much the same about the film. My two major complaints were: The editing. Everything was cut way too short and fast so you couldn't take in the action. Lots of the time it was confusing to see what was going on. The parachute bit is a prime example..... The pace was ALL wrong and really let it down. I guess why they did it was cos they had to keep the film shorter and so trimmed stuff down, but it just didn't work. The other thing was that it was trying to be a Bourne film. This could have been Bourne Quantam of Solace if you didn't know any better. You put Bond and Bourne head to head and Bourne wins hands down. Jason Bourne is younger, more aggressive... he is trained to KILL... he is a weapon. Bond is not so much and its stupid of them to force people to compare. They should have enough confidence in the franchise to keep going in the direction they were going in with CR. Not enough time was spent on revealing more about Bond himself either. All in all an enjoyable action film but a bit of a disapointment after Casino Royale held so much promise.
