  1. Yeah i like the They do, makes it easier to hit them all with a bomb at the same time. I agree the combat is good, well it was in botw, i think they may have just made it a bit too hard in this with how high damage the enemies do. Ill be back when im stronger to give it a better go.
  2. ^ yeah you need to go there first to get the quest, think i did similar in a different region. theres so much game here and ive been so busy playing it not sure where to start. Ive been really enjoying it but at the same time agree with most complaints about it, and some of the bad points, like the stamina its worse at the start of the game, once youve upgraded a bit its not so bad. i am finding the combat really hard, mainly because of how much damage some/a lot of enemies do, ive got 12 hearts but can oftenstill be killed in 2 hits. So avoiding combat mostly, then when i do fight its bomb arrows all the way. Ill come back to the combat later when i have enough batteries to try stuff like this the game definitely wants you to cook stuff but ive been keeping that to a minimum, only cooked a few times and just simple stuff like 5 apples in a pot. this is where i want a guide to tell me what to cook, what to attach to arrows, what to combine swords with etc, theres so much stuff like that you can nearly combine anything with anything, not bothered about working out whats good myself. but ive not been reading too much about it as i want to find out other stuff for myself, like i did a last night and it was great. also really enjoyed exploring underground also a good tip i read was in caves also this sounds great need to try it those koroks that want carrying around are sort of annoying, when you build them a vehicle it is pretty fun but its probably more time efficient to just carry them but thats boring. did the duplicate glitch to get some money, wasnt sure if i should but just heard about it after getting a quest which would need a few 100r which i was saving for some heat resistant gear, so saves time on boring money quests but will try not to use it much.
  3. What about the ps4 version? Assuming there is one? But yeah its an odd situation with ps5, where sometimes youd be better off with the ps4 version for better controller compatibility.
  4. yeah agree with whats already been said - the saturn pad, best for shmups/2d stuff - pads are generally really good these days - series x/s pads are great and have a good d-pad, too loud/clicky mind. the haptics stuff on the ps5 pad and switch are cool too.
  5. The first vehicle i tried to over engineer wouldnt even move. Skateboard with a fan on it worked fine.
  6. I like the double cd drives, modern cases usually dont have any edit - well i mean the slots for them, that case actually looks like you could have 4 of them
  7. Yeah i think the music can have a big impact, these are great: katamari damacy (the picture in the question), mr driller drill land, jet set radio, persona games (especially the music ones). I listen to those outside the games. Soundtracks are often expensive to get hold of unfortunately, like the xenoblade 2 one id like to get but its £40 so havent. Do have some soundtrack cds, some that came with the games (persona 4, persona 3/4/5 dancing, persona 1? or 2?), some free? From nintendo points iirc, and some bought ( persona 5, jet set radio). some nintendo games have great music, like splatoon, mario, zelda, and some cave games do too, like deathsmiles and dodonpachi doj, halo music is great too but i dont tend to listen to those much outside the games. Have quite a lot of cave soundtracks on cd as i sort of collect cave stuff, they often come with the special editions of the games, and the first print of the cave collection on 360 came with a big case of 10 or so cd’s. And yeah music games the music is important, stuff like rock band, amplitude, beat saber etc, games like those have got me into some bands. Dj hero, as shown by HansomeDead in the music thread, has amazing mashups of songs, id buy a cd of that but dont think that exists.
  8. ^ nice one! Yeah the tutorial is really good. I made a video of it as i thought it would be useful to be able to see outside of the game. I remember that in a rally game too but also cant remember which one it was, maybe richard burns rally?
  9. i don't remember all the points i used a guide but do remember 2 specific ones, one was just to optimise collecting required things in the same area (could have done this without a guide it would have just taken a lot longer), and one was one of the things you collect
  10. Joint goty for last year - gunvein, is out now on switch: you guys might not agree on the goty comment but its really really good https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Gunvein-2383485.html#Overview

    Redfall

^ yeah coop was fun! finished it earier, think the 2nd half is maybe a little shorter than the first half. i've been playing it a lot because my gamepass expires soon. it's a bit all over the place in many ways. sometimes it looks quite nice, other times it looks a bit rubbish. sometimes it was quite difficult and i died quite often (even on easy) and some parts were pretty easy (as expected on easy) it's a strange type of game too in that it seems to have been sold as more like something like left 4 dead but it isn't really like that, the structure is a bit like the division or destiny or something, but the gameplay is not quite like those, there are combat parts but you can also stealth through some parts too if you want, more like arcane's older games. i suspect played more like a straight shooter it's going to be not great/average, although i did enjoy the combat sometimes. i was trying to play stealthy - although not possible all the time i think this really increased my enjoyment of the game, some levels specifically with interesting buildings/environment/roofs to sneak around on sort of reminded me of dishonoured (which i really like) and generally i just like sneaking around, stealing peoples stuff, navigating around being up high on roofs as much as possible, sniping from a distance - some bits like these i did really enjoy. and the world is quite a fun/interesting environment to explore. but then other bits, like the forced combat bits (or when getting spotted) which happens quite often, which were sometimes alright, but this is where i didnt like the game as much, sometimes it was pretty annoying. there are quite a few odd/dreamscape/boss type levels which i wasn't as keen on. arkane games don't control too well on a pad (playing stealthy like in dishonoured that isn't a problem imo) and this one with the default settings is pretty bad but i messed with the settings a bit and id say it's not bad at all now. yeah the rook thing could be annoying especially if you've been treaking across the map slow and stealthy then it kills you and you're all the way back at a safe house. generally there isn't much punishment for death mind, think you lose a bit of money maybe? there are a lot of bugs, the first 7 or so hours i played they were small ones that didn't affect any gameplay really, like floating stuff, broken lighting. after that i did have some more annoying ones but nothing really bad - think the worst was some buttons stop working which means you can't crouch which was a problem depending on if i wanted to do some stealth. the xbox version runs at 30fps - not something that bothers me too much, just before i finished it there was a patch which seemed to improve the smoothness of it quite a lot - not sure if this was a 60fps patch or just a smoother 30. overall i quite enjoyed it which seems an odd thing to say considering the bad press, which sort of made me unsure, did i really enjoy it? maybe my expectations were lowered a lot which helped? who knows i think i enjoyed it in parts anyway.
  12. I pre order stuff quite often, its a bit of a gamble but you can sometimes get good deals on pre orders, recently mostly on switch as xbox/ps prices are too high so waiting for ones i want to drop in price. Would have liked to get re4 and the respawn star wars game on launch. I will pay more sometimes mind, got gt7 on launch, and would pay more for zelda but got a good pre order deal on that so it only worked out a little more than normal.

    Prey (2017)

yes a controller is bad, or at least was on launch, maybe it's been patched up now. still really like the game despite that. i didn't use the alien abilities that much, maybe that's a good reason to play it again at some point.
  14. Watched the tetris film the other week, it was pretty good. I thought it would be good having seen a bbc documentary about it years ago, its a lot more interesting than youd expect a story about the licensing of a game to be. I do think the various documentaries are better mind as during the film im wondering which parts are true - i watched 2 documentaries about it afterwards - a lot of it is true but a lot is also made up to add more peril/action to the film. The old bbc doc and a newer one i watched are both very good and on youtube if anyones interested:
  15. Yeah usually finish games ive started, although less likely if the game was super cheap/on gamepass or similar.
  16. Finished this last night, the last bit Wasnt as annoying as i was expecting, used a guide and map to plan a route and work out which ones i still needed in each area so the backtracking wasnt too bad. Worked out how to get them mostly on my own but did need a guide for a few. Took 15 hours, id say the first 10 or so were great, really great game, the last 5 was less good imo, i got a bit fed up with it and some backtracking, basically when youve already uncovered all the map but just have to go back to places and collect stuff. The music great. 73% completion in the end, think i had a high % in everything (like scanning 90+%, all but one suit upgrade, i think all energy tanks) except missiles which i think i was missing a lot of. Overall it was good, glad i played it again, not sure i liked it as much as the 2d ones i played last year.
  17. I sort of want to play the star wars racer game. My gamepass expires in 10 days, wonder if i can finish redfall before it ends. Probably re-subscribe for 3 years after zelda. Although at the moment im only really using the xbox for halo and party chat both of which dont need a subscription i think.
  18. yeah i think i prefer 3 too, probably because it was a bit easier and the wii controls were nice. didn't play 2 much because i heard it was harder. beat omega pirate last night - in your stupid face stupid omega pirate (in the end it was pretty easy on the easy mode). although i remember getting caught on rocks in this fight in the original but not here so maybe there's another fight, it seemed different anyway, not sure/can't remember. i was loving this and played loads but further in i am getting increasingly annoyed with all the backtracking, definitely would have been a good idea to add optional assistance mode with better map info and fast travel options - stuff like that. my current ? marker on the map takes me to the so guess i need to collect more of those, might just use a guide to keep the backtracking to a minimum
  19. Not sure ive used the super missile much as its pretty convoluted to use but yeah i think you have to be on the standard beam, charge the beam up and press the missile button iirc? on the easy mode i basically jump up and down infront of the enemy hammering the fire button, or increasingly just run past them. The thermal vision looks cool but also makes me feel a bit sick. still enjoying it and did also manage to get something useful last night - a new beam - however traipsed across the map to a room with a door i can now open only to find something else there blocking progress.
  20. Been playing the remaster of the first one on switch, its great, im really enjoying it! I remember liking it originally on gamecube but getting annoyed as i couldnt get past omega pirate (did complete it in the end using a cheat disk), but i dont really remember much about it. It looks great and sounds amazing. the exploration, the atmosphere, the little puzzles, its really good! Well the combat isnt great, and theres a bit too much backtracking. The controls seem good although not sure how they compare to the original and wii versions. another problem is more of a problem with my memory but itd be nice to have a tips mode that shows the features of a room so you know which ones to go back to when you get a new gadget/powerup. Im playing on easy so hopefully get past the omega pirate this time. And there is a tips mode which shows you where to go next if you get a bit lost which is good. It is a bit confusing working out how to get somewhere via the different elevators mind, found a useful map for that but its full of spoilers so im trying to ignore the key and just look at the map. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/metroid/images/c/cd/Mp_prodmap.png/revision/latest?cb=20140819051514
  21. ^ nice one that sounds ace! I agree with dangerman, live reasonably close to arcade club, should go more.
  22. ^ not sure if itll all be out in 30 days? Might want to hold off on the free trial? legends of the galactic heroes is good, parasyte, ya boy kongming, vinland saga, monthly girls nozaki-kun are worth a look imo ymmv etc.
  23. no kids here, thought it was great
  24. Played this over the last few weeks, its only really the 2nd 2d standard kirby game ive played (robobot being the other). Its a sort of basic platformer where you get all different powers copied from enemies, like theres one that turns you into a sort of streetfighter character doing dragon punches and stuff, a superman type character, electric attacks, fireballs, everything. And you can sometimes get super powered up and go nuts with a massive sword or turn into a giant snowball - the different powers are what i think makes it fun. Overall i enjoyed it, its often a lot of fun. There are some boring bits mind and i just sort of beat the bosses by well i dont know but not with skill anyway. I sort of like that its easy though as im not good at these sort of platformers. I dont think its as good as robobot. the challenge levels are really good though, you unlock them as you get tickets which you find in levels and theyre like shorter score/time attack levels based on a specific power up, you can go for gold/silver/bronze medals, i mostly got silver, a few golds too, some of which took many retries. Theres about 10 of them, shame there arent more. exploration to find hidden stuff was fun sometimes theres loads of other stuff you unlock but seems to be mini games, that you can play on your own but seemed more aimed at multiplayer so i only tried a few of those. overall this was pretty good, recommended if youre after playing some more kirby, but probably not the best one. edit - this was originally a wii game, not sure what changes there are in the deluxe switch version.
