  1. Finished the Dark Crystal show - amazingly well done. Goes to some pretty dark places by the end, and that's without setting it up 100% to lead into the film.
  2. I tried watching mother! the other day and had to turn it off, read the wikipedia article to find out what happens and then skip to near the end to see how grim some of that stuff is. I think that might be the first time I've ever done that. I admire it greatly and I love Aronofsky's work but I found the whole premise of people taking over someone's house just really made me anxious as fuck. I get the metaphors (and they lay them on pretty thick by the end) but I just wanted to scream, "kick the fuckers out!"
  3. Following on from Behind The Bastards, 2 guests on one of the Alex Jones episodes have their own show called Knowledge Fight. I've been listening to their shows solidly for the past month or so, and I'm even giving them a couple of dollars a month in their Patreon. They started in the beginning of 2017, doing several shows a week, sometimes for as long as 3 hours and I've only got up to the beginning of 2018 but it's great stuff. I would recommend listening to their first episode, then one called "January 2, 2011" and if you get bored of hearing Alex Jones rant, you have to listen to the episodes on a conspiracy youtube channel called Project Camelot. Mars Colonies is pretty amazing, and when you hear the twist about Captain Mark Richards on Project Camelot Break 2, you might well lose your mind. They've also done an exhaustive investigation on how Jones went from being cold on Trump ("he's mobbed up, I don't trust him") to being his own personal arse kisser. The results are amazing, and, perhaps not surprisingly, they involve the Russians.
  4. I haven't had much time to properly give it the attention it deserves, but I like what I've heard. I think I instantly liked Lateralus, wasn't immediately taken with Aenima or 10,000 Days. The former is one of my favourite albums of all time now, the latter I've come to appreciate more recently, but it does suffer from being more of the same as Lateralus. Undertow is still the weakest album, the production and mix on that is very poor.
  5. My contract was up for renewal so despite new iPhones about to be announced, I got an XR. Jumped from 10 gig data a month (which was always running out, every month) to a whopping 100 gig a month. I feel like I've been hammering it, and yet I have 16 days left to use 90.5 gig.
  6. No-one been watching the Dark Crystal? I'm only 4 episodes in and enjoying it so far. Was a bit confusing at first with so many new characters introduced, but it's starting to take shape. Incredibly impressive puppetry, too.
  7. I'm about 40% in on this. I'm enjoying it, but really missing the function from the Jupiter games where you can put fake squares in to test stuff. Unless it's there and I missed the option?
  8. The whole point of it though was to gamble if something would come out or not.
  9. Not sure on the physical release, might have to wait till I get paid and see how much cash I have spare. The new track is excellent, really looking forward to the album. Everything (bar Salival) is on streaming and digital now, so that solves how I listen in my car.
  10. Yep, I’ll be having some of that!
  11. Slay The Spire is more a turn based RPG that happens to use cards as its attack and defence moves. It’s like an RPG with all the filler and grind removed.
  12. Watched What We Do In The Shadows on the weekend. I’d never even heard of it, to my eternal shame. Very funny stuff!

    Diablo 3

Spent a couple of hours playing this with a mate. We added my Switch profile to his machine but it didn’t bring in my characters, so instead of local on one machine, we had him on the TV and me on my Switch. There was a slight lag if I looked at his screen so I had to only look on the handheld but it went pretty well. Both of us were surprised how well the Switch handled loads of mobs of enemies on screen, plus us and our friendly minions, as we were both necromancers. Finally got my necromancer to the end game levels. The other day I tried Barbarian and it wasn’t as much fun to play. But also did a good run with demon hunter and that’s more like a machine gun class and is also good fun.

    Gears 5

Is it just a download on the store or do you have to pre-order it first?
  15. @one-armed dwarf Firefox mobile seems to work for me.
  16. Picross S (Switch) Resident Evil 2 (PS4) Tomb Raider (Xbox One) What Became of Edith Finch (Xbox One) Dead Cells (Switch) Diablo III (Switch) First run with necromancer down, now to try a completely different class.
  17. I’m a couple of episodes from the end of Stranger Things. I like it so far, but I also liked series 2 which apparently didn’t go down well with everyone else?

    Diablo 3

Nearly finished my first (well, on this copy of the game) run through of the campaign with the necromancer. I remembered that the difficulty settings in Diablo are always labelled wrong but I wish I had gone one level up from Hard, as it’s still been too easy. I’m probably gonna run through again on some more classes before the Adventure stuff or whatever is at the end. At some point I’ll have to do some digging because I really don’t understand what the seasons are all about, or how “meta” supposedly works in this kind of game.

    Observer

I started it and I probably wasn’t in the mood but I dropped off at the point where detective vision comes in.
  20. PLAY Picross S3 Been playing this a lot as one of my podcast listening games. Only a handful of puzzles left but I'm really struggling to see the logic in working them out. I've even tried to get my head round the logic of the Mega Picross mode but that still eludes me. Colour mode is really cool, though. Dead Cells Another podcast game. Currently playing with one of the boss cells activated, which makes it significantly harder, but the right amount of challenge I need. Over 100 hours played, according to the console. Slay The Spire Not been as addicted to this as I expected, but still really enjoying it. It's also a good background game for multi-tasking. Diablo III I've finished this once before and played the opening act probably 5 or 6 times at this point. Still a lot of fun for mindless mashing. Sea of Thieves Played some more of this with Simon and it's a good co-op adventure. Not sure I would buy it if my GP sub ran out tomorrow, but it's a good chatting game. Clash Royale They introduced a battle pass at the start of the month and it has some really good features with it. I've got very few common and rare cards to max out so it's currently a case of storing up gold. No sign of the game slowing down for me or the community just yet. WANT Not much on the horizon I can think of. I want to get back into some of the stuff I started on GamePass. BIN Deactivated my Facebook account for a bit, not that I use it much anyway. That feels pretty good.
  21. Started listening to Behind The Bastards, after hearing it recommended as they do a deep dive on the Jeffrey Epstein case. I’ve learnt a fair bit about him, and also Paul Manafort (who has real blood on his hands), Alex Jones and nearly finished the 3 part episodes on L. Ron Hubbard, who comes across as more of a likeable Billy Liar than an outright evil bastard. There’s a lot of ad breaks which doesn’t always sit well, but the shows are good.

    Diablo 3

This is on sale right now on Switch so I picked it up. Can’t remember which class I used before, bar the monk for healing, which is not that useful when playing on my own. I seem to remember trying the witch doctor, but this time went with necromancer. Still on act 1 but the cool skills are starting to unlock. I just need to work out how to open the multiplayer so it’s not just friends only. If anyone has it on Switch and fancies a game, let me know.
  23. Giving people the ability to delete posts could prove problematic, to be honest. We could turn the rep to be not anonymous but I think it’s better how it is now.

    Transistor

It’s not as good as Bastion.
  25. I’ve only got most of the way through the first episode but it’s good so far. I didn’t have any hate for the second series, but I couldn’t remember much, bar the kiss at the end as the actors involved made a big joke about it on the behind scenes episodes. The recap was ultra useful.
