  1. Ubisoft confirmed this is real. Going by the artwork it looks like a return to a more classic Assassin’s Creed which is good news to me. I did end up quite liking Valhalla despite not thinking I would, but still more interested in a return to a classic AC style game than the newer ones (although it’s not confirmed that’s what this is, but seems like)
  2. Yeah I’ve said similar on here before in regards to Gamepass and rivals. I think services like this will absolute drive exclusive and timed exclusive windows and things. Which I’m all right with. exclusive deals > subscription service > console wars. It’s just more ammo for either box. Which I like, go nuts. I’m not mad Sony is paying games to keep off Gamepass, either. It’s just more hater energy than competitor energy
  3. They’re not paying for exclusivity on games they’re paying for non-exclusive games to not be on Gamepass https://www.eurogamer.net/microsoft-claims-sony-pays-developers-blocking-rights-to-keep-games-off-xbox-game-pass At least according to Xbox I’m not angry about it either. Business is business. But it’s less respectable business in my view
  4. Let’s be fair though Xbox buying ABK is a power move and a half. I’m not convinced it’s anti-competitive, but clearly Sony feels so and you can’t blame them. They also don’t have a way to clap back. So I can see why they are complaining about this. I don’t think it’s a bad move, and I don’t think the deal is anti-competitive. I don’t think who holds the keys to CoD holds the keys to the entire game subscription concept. But it is still a big thing. I think the news that came out that Sony makes deals with developers to not be on Gamepass is more anti-competitive in a sense. We can’t rival this service but we can do our best to hold it back. Like that’s kind of shitty. For a company that has said that they don’t believe in subscription models is a long term smart move for games. They sure do seem frightened by it
  5. The properties of 5H and 5S are they’re really fast and too far away
  6. The only thing I learned about Faust Yesterday is he’s air defense is actually awesome because he drops those little bags/boxes/bombs and it makes approaching him from below impossible. Also he has an anti-air that beat Millia’s Kapple which is supposed to be the anti-anti-air move. I don’t know if that was a cursed interaction because it only happened once but fucking hell that was annoying. Bridget is godlike and the more this character gets discovered I think the more people will realise she’s like Happy Chaos level kind of bullshit. The only effective strategy I found yesterday was playing more neutral/footsies, particularly with far slash. But Millia doesn’t combo that well of fS and when the guy realised what I was doing he just stood in one spot and threw either 5H or 5S out over and over again and I couldn’t get past it because Bridget’s range + recovery makes punishing whiffs fucking…I dunno. I just couldn’t do it. There was also some Bridget tech I’ve never seen before. They use a lot of fast RRC to turn her roller skate thing in to a fast over head or low, which already is like fucking hell. But when I learned I can beat the overhead with 5K after block somehow they turn the overhead in to a cross up. I was just left like what the fuck. This character is non-stop. She’s never open or punishable. Not counting GL or Hurd crush characters I think Bridget has the best pressure in the game and I’m stumped how to over come it. Even though it wasn’t labbing I played against the same guy for hours trying different things and couldn’t find an answer. She’s my new demon in GG. I hate this character.
  7. Probably about 90/10 in favour of complaining. But there was a Bridget yesterday that beat me like 30-3 or something. Then I won one set against them and they switched to their level 1400+ Faust and wrecked me even harder. At a point it’s not a character thing* it’s just pure skill and creativity, knowledge and ability. I dunno how to match it. *Although I saved some videos of Bridget yesterday I was too angry to upload, but I might later. This character is fucked
  8. Man I got so fucked up on this game last night I woke up this morning and still felt really low. After a year of playing it it’s just another realisation that there is such a gap between me and really good players. Their speed, decision making, mind games, knowledge. I’m just never going to get there. That was a session that’s really making me not want to play it ever again. I just can’t overcome these differences. I just feel lost today.
  9. DF put up a 50 minute tech analysis of this game. Although unless I missed it they never really talk in depth about frame rate which I thought was odd. They do say the frame rate can be unlocked, it supports VRR and has a 40hz mode which is all good. But they don’t really show any of that Either way, I still don’t really know what to make of it. Some parts of it look so much better it‘s like a different game. There were other parts where I didn’t realise they were showing the PS4 version Some of the things they show I think make the upgrade look very impressive. Lighting, redesigned/redecorated environments, destructibility, reflections, water effects are so much more advanced and looks brilliant. The only real gameplay changes is the AI is a bit better and enemies are more prone to stagger from leg shots. However they never showed the friendly AI and how they stealth around enemies which was a clear and probably the biggest flaw in the first game. DF show that the ADS is different and how cutscenes transition to gameplay is different, but to be honest I think these points are tiny. It’s better, but I don’t think they matter One thing I disagree with is they were showing the “honest talk” scene between Joel and Ellie and DF tries to say that the newer version conveys more emotion and the PS4 version has uncanny valley. I mean I haven’t seen the scene in full on PS5, but even in PS3 that scene was one of the most effective scenes in the game and was always powerful. I think there’s a bit of throwing the old game under the bus for no reason there. I never had any uncanny valley at all in the original game ever. In fact the reason those characters are so popular and the story hits so hard is because they managed to avoid any unnatural feeling in that game. Part of it for me as well is I still prefer the character models from the PS4 version. Maybe because that’s what I’m used too, but I prefer the way they look. So even though the PS5 characters look objectively better, I kind of wish they just made better looking versions of the PS4 models, if that makes sense. So I’m quite mixed on it still. They have absolutely put the work in and I think there are certain weaknesses to the old game they have fixed. But nothing I saw actually makes me a believer that the story is refreshed or the strengths of the original will be elevated in any meaningful way. The graphics are very impressive, and there were definitely points which made me say wow I’d like to play that. But the longer the video goes on for the more I kind of got over it and when getting confused with the PS4 and PS5 version is like eh. They did an amazing job on a game that didn’t need it. Dunno. Mixed. Put it on Sony Pass, you cowards
  10. I take it back Bridget is the best character in the game and absolutely broken. The shit this character can do is just unsurvivable. They need to nerf the fuck out of this shit

If you think not knowing anything about a subject will stop me from talking about the subject then you don’t know me at all

I don’t know who Eddy Gordo is and just a heads up I never stop mashing. Minus frames are only real if you think they’re real

I’ll take all 3 actually. Toem I wanted on Switch but I’m not going to argue at 0 dollars. NFS I’m not that interested in but why not, add it to the library. Gran Blue is also supposed to be pretty good, I think? Actually would really like to play that Those PS Premium tiers look like they’re struggling though. The highest tier gets you Syphon Filter 2 and the Sly Collection? Glad I’m not paying for that
  15. How do I practice a cross up in the training room? Basically Millia has this oki where do H disc then turbo fall and be on the other side of the opponent. But every time I’ve tried it’s not worked and I don’t know why. I want to set the dummy to only block one side and I don’t know how to do that

    Immortality

I might try it this week, but honestly only because Edge gave it a 10 and it’s on Gamepass. If it weren’t for either of these things I don’t think I’d bother. I’m not expecting to like it, but there’s also no reason not to give it a go. Hopefully It surprises me, but I’m not exactly excited to play it

    Sonic Superstars

Eurogamer had a really good preview of Sonic Frontiers https://www.eurogamer.net/sonic-frontiers-wrestles-with-taking-the-series-essence-to-the-open-zone I say good as in it’s a good article, not that they’re positive on the game. So he’s remembering something he’s never seen before? Anyway. Good to know there will be some new levels, at least. But this still sounds like an excuse to use old material EDIT: A thought just occurred to me that in the interview the developer says that they decided to do an open zone style design because the development team needed a new challenge. Eh? Your last game was Sonic Forces lol. Did they make that game and go, oh, we’ve mastered this. There’s nothing more to say or do here, we’ve conquered this mountain, time for the next challenge. Sonic Forces is the 3rd worst Sonic game of all time. How did they finish that and think what an astounding success. We should push ourselves harder. It was an irredeemable, unsalvageable failure of a game I’m sure what it actually means is we were bored as fuck with the current Sonic game so we had to do something new. Which is probably why Forces was such a cheap, budget feeling, crappily made game because they had enough. But in the article it sounds like he’s talking about previous works like they already hit the pinnacle of what that type of Sonic game could be. It’s like dude. What world does Sonic Team live in?
  19. I watched Diaphone’s race to top 10 with Bridget today It’s a really good video. But one thing I noticed is he does this “safe jump” which also can end in an empty low or a air command grab. I forgot Bridget can do the bear grab in the air. I hope this isn’t tech that everyone starts using because I don’t want to play against that at all. Aside from that the Baiken player has made me want to learn the character again. I want play a fucking Buck wild Baiken too, that looks fun. Although the combos look really hard.
  20. Dunkey’s video on this had me rolling. The fucking Elmo joke was so good 🤣

    Cult of the Lamb

Oh, yeah, sounds like they’ve done a lot of fixing on the Switch version https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/08/cult-of-the-lamb-version-1-0-3-live-for-switch-here-are-the-full-patch-notes
  22. Since we all seem to have thought the wrong thing about the game I googled it for more info. Maybe it isn’t a rogue lite because there are only 5 characters. But it has a bunch of rogue lite trappings with permadeath, item hoarding, crafting, RNG, time limits. I might give it another go too because I think it could be interesting. But it seemed very harsh right out of the gate so maybe it’s a game where I just need to accept the outcomes and bullshit until I learn it better. But last night the first hour was very severely off-putting I think maybe I like rogue lites where death is failure but it’s part of the progression. So I can play really well and be successful until I hit death and reset. Maybe I don’t like rogue lites like Inscription or Weird West where it feels like every button press and choice is failing. But I might go back to it still.
  23. Oh, yeah, that’s right. If a mod wants to move it that’s cool
  24. I tried 2 games today and really didn’t like either. First was Dying Light which, maybe I’ll go back too, I didn’t out and out hate it. Which is a surprise because it’s combining first person melee with first person parkour. That should be recipe for disaster but after 2 hours I just think it’s kind of boring. Both the melee and parkour is bad, though not as bad as I expected, but where it really lost me was when I found a time trial/race challenge. First damage sustained in the race is real damage and doesn’t reset when resetting the race, also you can reset the race but can’t quit the race, you just have to wait 2 minutes until you fail. Wait 2 minutes. Are you fucking crazy? I’m not sure what you would call this kind of oversight but stuff like this is my fucking #1 annoying things in games. I know these are small things but small things are critical. You have to get entering, resetting, exiting and abandoning challenges right. After 2 hours I was only at a 5/10 anyway but bad menus and how this works broke me. Next was Weird West which fucking hell. This I hate. I thought it was going to be some kind of isometric, story focused, tactics RPG thing. Instead it’s a twin stick rogue lite that doesn’t let you shoot, seems to revolve around random encounters, looting and time limits. Like one side quest had a 5 day time limit and when you travel the map time passes. Oh my god no. It’s a shame because it has a unique style and good controls. But before I realised it was a rogue lite I spent all my bullets and couldn’t find any ammo or new gun for an hour. I then tried to steal something by accident and 5 dudes all started shooting at me and I turned it off before seeing what happens next. Very disappointing. Completely wrong about what type of game it is, had a boring hour trying to not engage with anything because can’t defend myself then tried to do one thing and got fucked up for it. I think this game could be good but it’s a terrible start and not new player friendly. I’ve not got the patience for these systems today. Should have just played Guilty Gear instead.
  25. Oh yeah. We’ll see. I played a tiny bit of Baiken in training a while ago and don’t really like her moves. If I learn another character at this point it will be either Ram or Bridget But Millia is so much fun to play it’s hard to not
