I’ve been playing Max Payne 3 which is on gamepass (I didn’t know at the time I was downloading it and was really confused when it just booted up without a financial transfer). It’s good in so many ways. The voice acting , the gun play. The animations are fantastic. Like when you land it’ll look realistic as to whatever you land on or around or against. You have to care about the story though, which I have been, as about half of my time with it has been cut scenes. I’ll try this. Also unfortunately screen recording or image taking appears to be disabled for, presumably all, backwards compatible games.

I’m much further now and loving it far more. I realised I’d been rinsing the slums rather than progressing the story and finding extras naturally. Just escaping prison atm and I’m more rushing along to get it done now tbh.

I’ve started this now and I’m a little mixed on it tbh. It looks lovely, it’s ok to control but the gameplay itself is shallow. I know there’s not much you can do when you’re a cat but the little there is to do already feels stretched a bit thin after my maybe 3hrs. I’ll keep at it.

This happened to me yesterday after trying to plough through it for an hour in some desperation that it’ll turn a corner soon and pick up. It’s just so soulless. I think the part that has you go to the fridge and press Y to open it to see nothing is in it, then Y to open freezer and there’s a waffle, then walk to toaster and mash Y to lower waffle 3 times because it’s broken and then the toaster ejects the waffle on to the floor and your character is just proper sick of life pretty much sums the game up. Shan't be returning.

Well to everybody's surprise I can confirm this game is no further along in terms of gameplay or depth than most third person shooters of the early to mid 2010s were. Of what I’ve played it’s not a bad game, but just so by the numbers you find yourself to going through the motions of playing it without ever feeling much joy. This’ll be one I’ll chip away at but may never finish.

I had some games of this tonight. Thought I’d only have one or two but ended up being on it a couple of hours. I recall last time I wasn’t able to find games but this time getting a game is instant and is clearly very well supported, complete with carol-singing in the lobby.

Disappointed with myself for having hardly putting any time into anything. Hope to change that next year. Got into a rut of going to work, coming home, watching stuff, bed, repeat then sleeping the weekends away.

I recently picked this up, ultimate ed, for dead cheap. I’m a monster who sets his games priority as graphics which adds ray tracing and locked at 30fps here. So far I really love it. It’s incredibly stylistic the way that information is presented to you as you’re running around. I don’t think anything is presented generically. Even the map is live, which I haven’t seen in years. I’m very early on but the first time someone was harder to kill than the regular ones I died a few times. They just seemed to be able to kill me so fast. But then when I did it I did so easily and have no real idea what I did differently so moving forward should be fun.
