  1. Deffo feels that they're now just leaving a clear window for Starfield before announcing BG3.
  2. Seems weird that 3 weeks on from saying BG3 would be coming to Xbox this year they still haven't announced an actual release date ?
  3. Doesn't putting it out in PD mean that he's now also released control over any use & interpretation of the IP ? So I get that he might be cheesed off with whatever DC and Telltale have done, but it doesn't actually make the situation any better does it (aside from 'devaluing the product')?
  4. I liked the style of the first game - but by the end there it actually felt that there was really very little choice and control over the direction of the story, despite the illusion of multiple branching decision points.
  5. Not sure if you mean OCH's post or the pending announcement of Nintendo's next console........ ? (or maybe both)
  6. I'm looking forward to playing this, but I've just hit 70 hrs in "Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous" and still on Act 3 (of 5) so might be another month or so. BTW it's the opening creak of the Daggerfall door that's a whole story in itself (and turns up in many movies & TV programmes, but I read somewhere that it was a 'sample sound' to begin with rather than being game specific).
  7. When the original was featured in RetroGamer a few months ago, I'd never heard of it or even the cartoon series.
  8. I've downloaded the 'prologue' to play before the main game - but read somewhere that it's only about 10 mins long so you don't really get much of a feel of things anyway.
  9. It's a bit weird to push it back quite so far (just to decouple from other releases, and miss out on Halloween inspired sales) which might suggest it's some way off from actually being finished. Someone on Gamecentral suggested they'd not really showcased any actual gameplay videos (which seems odd if it was close to completion).

    Random News II

@Nigel Tufnell Love how Nintendo can get away with bundling a NS with Mario Kart 8, a 6 yr old (almost) launch title based on a 9 yr old WiiU game..... Okay some will argue the quality is unsurpassed, but could you imagine the outcry if Sony or MS were bundling a console with a title of equivalent age ?
  11. Or maybe navigate around the bodies.....
  12. Oops, sorry, I'd have seen that if I'd have looked more closely at your post in the 'purchased' thread from Saturday.
  13. I didn't think it came out on PS5 until 06 Sep - was there an early access ?
  14. That latter para reminds me of the Mafia or LA Noire games - where you just had to drive from location A to B with nothing particular to note or find anywhere that might divert your attention (in their 'open world / city') - so your journey always felt like some sort of elongated 'loading screen'.
  15. Blakey should buy one for his trip to Japan - and just sit holding it, staring at a blank screen, on the 10 hr flight... Does it actually offer any 'remote play' features (beyond your home PS5 / WiFi) whatsoever ?
  16. Reminds me of Christmas Eve 20 years ago when the boss was telling me he'd bought his lad a Gameboy SP for Christmas - so I asked him what games he'd bought with it - and he had no idea that you had to buy games for it - so, after he'd settIed from cursing & swearing, I waved him off on a frantic last minute lunchtime dash to Comet....
  17. What I loved about some open world games was the time when you'd have a conversation, or read a book / find a note about a 'a village a few miles to the southwest' or when you'd get a sketch map - then had to navigate yourself to actually find the place (rather nowadays when an icon pops up). Pretty sure that's how the Elder Scrolls games use to do it (pre Skyrim) and was a great part of exploration in RDR when treasure hunting (against the vague map). It actually felt way more rewarding than just travelling towards a location flag.
  18. Well that was an unexpected bonus (in so much it turned up on time !):
  19. A note that MS & Larian are still trying to bring the split screen feature to Series S post Xbox launch: Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series S should get split-screen mode after launch
  20. Maybe the approach is more along the lines of: Hey guys it's a big new release on Gamepass Day One, so just go out and play it - you don't need someone else to tell you it's 10/10 in order to do that, and many of you won't actually need to part with any extra cash in order to give it a try. I'm sort of done with VG reviews in many ways, and how they can make or break a new iP where there's a preconception of some gamers where it's like: "Oh man, someone scored it a 7/10 on metacritic - must avoid this clanger".
  21. @OCH That level in CoC:DCotE is a great shout ! Not sure if it qualifies as such, but the Point Lookout DLC for Fallout 3 was pretty fantastic, as was the whole Bitterblack Isle area in DD : Dark Arisen. Also had loads of fun with the pirate ship sections of AC Black Flag - whether it was ship to ship combat, whaling, diving, fort assaults or just sailing along listening to the shanties.
  22. It's 1990 and PGA Golf Tour, local multiplayer, and the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass. If you know, you'll know......
  23. TBH in ~100 hrs each of playing D:OS 1&2 I've never used the split screen modes - it seems such a weird concept playing a lengthy choice based CRPG as a couch co-op. My missus & I both play CRPGs but usually at different times of day - so together isn't likely (unlike the occasion blast on MP Mario Kart, Uncooked etc). So it's not likely to be something I'll miss. But then I've got a good chunk of Pathfinder WotR to play, then Zelda TotK and Starfield so I'm in no rush for BG3, and as above, would perhaps have preferred it to come out in 3-6 months as a more polished version.
  24. It's a weird one, as I find playing some games on the Switch a truly miserable experience if they've not actually been optimised/adapted for the small screen (generally relating to text or icons being way too small/indistinguishable). And the prime concept of Project Q just seems to be the remote play of those big screen experiences......
