EA has confirmed the title of American McGee's new game as Alice: Madness Returns.

It's in development for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and will be released next year.

Alice: Madness Returns picks up 10 years after McGee's first Alice game. We pick-up our heroine after a decade confined to an asylum for the insane. She's off to find out what happened to her toasted family and work out why she's a bit bonkers.

From TrueAchievements:

American McGee, the man behind the anticipated Alice: Madness Returns and its prequel Alice, confirmed to CVG today that the original Alice will be made available digitally to those who purchase Madness Returns for no cost. That's right, purchasing Alice: Madness Returns will effectively net you two games for the price of one and will allow you to see all that the franchise has to offer.

American McGee also took this time to confirm that Alice: Madness Returns will receive DLC support.

There will be DLC in the form of dresses that the player can download and Alice can wear. Those dresses come with special abilities and enhance how you play through the game.

Alice: Madness Returns is due for release on June 14th in North America and June 17th in Europe. Several images and a gameplay trailer were released last month, so be sure to check them out here. There has been no confirmation as to whether the original Alice title will be available separately at a future date, nor has it been confirmed if the game will support achievements.

NICE! Always wanted to play the first one, but never got round to it!

So is that a PC game for those who buy on PS3 & 360 or will they be bringing the original onto console download services and you get it free if you buy the new game?

EDIT:

Sounds like it is coming to consoles.

"There's also going to be pretty significant release which is the original Alice brought over to the consoles," explained McGee, "so that a person who's purchased Madness Returns gets a download code and is able to bring Alice 1 onto their console and play through the entire original game alongside playing Madness Returns."
