However, Kojima is spending more time with Metal Gear Solid : Peace Walker.

Hideo Kojima is letting "young bloods" at his Kojima Productions studio take charge of new multiformat title Metal Gear Solid: Rising while he concentrates on making Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP, which he considers the next "true" Metal Gear Solid game.

"We're creating Rising with Kojima Productions' up-and-coming young bloods, because the game is for the young bloods as well, a new experience." Not completely new, however - Kojima promised that Rising would be "a stealth espionage action game, of course".

He said he would be also be experimenting with Western development methods on Rising. "I made a keynote speech at GDC and I explained the difference about how studios in the West work, by first creating technology... That's one experiment that we're doing."

For Kojima, however, the real sequel to the Metal Gear Solid series is the PSP's Peace Walker - so much so that he's personally directing the game.

"This is what I mean by a true sequel - it means that I'm writing the script, I'm doing the game direction, I'm working on the title full-time and the main team of Metal Gear Solid 4 is working on this title," the creator said at Konami's E3 press conference.

MGS: Peace Walker, revealed at yesterday's Sony conference, is a 1970s-set sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3 starring Naked Snake, otherwise known as Big Boss. It will be released next year. Little is known about Rising other than that it will star Raiden in his cybernetic ninja suit and, is in development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

And now Kojima announces Metal Gear Arcade.

Hideo Kojima has revealed the first ever Metal Gear title for arcades: an adaptation of the PS3's Metal Gear Online with 3D visuals called Metal Gear Arcade.

"Metal Gear Solid finally makes its appearance on the coin-ops," he said at Konami's E3 press conference. "It's coming back from the PS3's Metal Gear Online. That was quite a hit, so we're going to bring it to the coin-ops."

Metal Gear Arcade's imposing, enclosed cabinets were shown on screen in suites of four, but they will also be connected between arcades via the eKonami system. They will offer full 3D visuals through goggles. "If you put on these goggles which allow you to see the 3D view, you'll be able to see the enemies pop up in 3D," Kojima said.

Metal Gear Arcade is being developed by Konami's arcade division in collaboration with Kojima Productions, the creator revealed. Konami aims to release the machine into arcades in Japan this year, and has plans to introduce it to the rest of the world soon after.

Footage of Kojima laughing manically into his suitcases stuffed with money will come later.

Kojima hinted at in a Famitsu interview that Konami was basically forcing him into Metal Gear Rising. Mind you, an MGS game without him being really involved might still be good, bringing some new blood into development.

  • 1 year later...
  • 1 year later...

This is now being made by Platinum Games, and judging by the leaked trailer it's had a bit of a reboot

http://www.zshare.net/video/97220726500bf054/

Dont know how long the trailer will remain up, it'll be online properly tomorrow I'd imagine, but it keeps being removed from youtube

Personally, while I'm liking the idea of Platinum Games making the game, I thought the more Fruit Ninja style from the other year looked more interesting.

"Revengeance"

Is that even a word??

huh.gif

[EDIT]

According to Urban Dictionary, it is:

"the act of gaining revenge at a rate of at least 2.54 times greater to that of standard revenge and 1.61 that of standard vengeance."

Rather specific ratios there but at least we know now.
