does the psn really use dedicated servers for hosting cod4 and rock band? (cod4 will probably have matchmaking servers) i tihink some games on psn do use dedicated servers though? live doesn't use dedicated servers for games, well rock band, halo or cod4 don't as far as i know anyway (although again halo/cod4 do have servers but they don't host the games). i think what you are paying for is the infrastructure (sp!) for the service? which is as you say free elsewhere. anyway even if i just count it as paying £30 to play halo for a year it's a bargain for me, you can't play halo on psn/wfc.

really depends on how much your going to use it, just like say a gym membership. probably stating the obvious there. anyhow it's a bargain for me as i use it most days, if your only going to dable in online gaming (exactly how i thought i would at first before getting addicted to halo!) then i can see how it could be seen as a bit of a ripoff as it's free on the other consoles.

tried the demo and it's not as bad as i was expecting, seemed ok actually, but it's hard to tell with shooters as the first level is usually really easy. anyway i'll be saving my points for geometry wars 2 too.

you're not on your own, i'd agree with that ^, did take me a while to get used to it though. went back to the gh3 guitar last night and was struggling a little bit.

good games earlier ben, was really impressed with your singing! i'm useless at the singing, don't remember being as bad at singstar but i don't think you can die on singstar? i'm ok on the guitar, it's the sort of game you just get better the more you play even if you think you've hit a wall with it (you can do it illdog!). i've got quite a bit of dlc and some of it is really good, never heard of the grateful dead before but most of their songs are great on this, sugar magnolia being my favorite, also really like sprode, bang a gong, the time sick son of a grisley bear and zero and.... anyone got any dlc recomendations? i'm tempted by the judas priest pack next?

free map today! it's a remake of one from halo 1 called chill out or something. also i feel the need to point out that the snow map (avalanche) form the last map pack is brilliant.

yeah i think they are really good (2 being the best, never played 5 mind) but pretty different to dirt so unclear if you'd like them!

i quite liked it, mainly because the force feedback with the wheel is really good, thought the handling was a bit odd on some of the events (a bit like grid) though the dune buggy track racing is really good. i hated the huge van things you have to drive round the desert shame these went downhill from cmr2 imo.

Is that by using a mic stand and singing and doing the guitar at the same time? I'd imagine both set to Easy and I could do it. yeah, you can use the normal live headsets though so you don't need a mic stand. i tried it earlier and was woefull, didn't manage to finish a song and lost 16000 fans! was playing guitar on hard, it was the singing that was the problem but i guess having the guitar on easy too would help with reading the words.

i really like green grass and high tides on guitar (admitedly it is annoying on drums) and it's a good job having played it 1000's of times to try and get to the end! - still no luck. struggling on the drums now, my arms don't move fast enough and my brain doesn't work quick enough for the songs i'm stuck on. good job i still have loads more dlc songs to try out. anyone tried doing the band world tour on your own? i'm planning on trying it tomorrow but expect to fail miserably at the singing. this game is flipping brilliant.

yeah the handling is good fun when you get used to it, i wasn't trying to say it's bad, it's just strange as it's completely arcady, its not based in reality like pgr but it has some sim-like qualities like it can be quite easy to spin and at low speed you can do donughts and stuff. strange. the replay feature is great.

^ i've had the freezing, it's pretty random but hasn't been bothering me that much. i like this game, despite the strange handling it's good fun

rock band halo 3 grid

i read that the free points at hmv was for the first 1000 or so to buy the bundle? what he said. was really looking forward to the drums being all guitar heroed out but while the drums are great fun (and knackering, confusing and noisy) i've not played them much. the guitar part is brilliant, it's what guitar hero 3 should have been, back to the good old gh2 days (not that surprising) where it's actually fun to play the guitar parts, i'm loving it. played lots of band world tour with ben and we were getting 1000's of fans but only being paid $12 for a gig, what's up with that?

pretty much snap! appart from the light shining through orange curtains. my grandad had a bright orange binatone though - that played pong, but not sure if that was before or after the 2600. more consoles should be made of wood.
