  1. It doesn't suck to be me, I got it and its installed. I might even play it at some point.
  2. Not alot this week, Halo 3: ODST has been played but only in single player, I like it anyway. Metroid Prime Trilogy is still being worked on too. I must be about half an hour from the end. I'll probably get that done then play ODST full time untill its done then work my way through MP2: Echoes. So thats next week covered too.
  3. They are score attack games but I don't think that is a very important part of it, its great when you five star a song and you high five everyone in the room but playing to beat the guy ahead of you on the online scoreboard isn't what you do. Throwing in a few optional hammer-ons/pull-offs between chordes or the ability to palm mute would be the shit.
  4. I was going to make a thread about the future of rythme-action games but it required to much thought and I was mostly thinking of Rock Band anyway so it can go here. It was mostly inspired by Co-op's coverage of The Beatles: Rock Band and what they could possibly do after it. Led Zep was obviously mentioned but that won't happen and so was a Radiohead Rock Band game, I'm not sure about that, I don't think they quite have the story that The Beatles have, maybe they do, I don't know. Like with The Beatles I'd feel a little left out if that did happen as I have little affection to them. So I start thinking about what could happen next. I've never been fond of the idea of band specific games because your not going to get the most varied stuff, even from the most imaginative bands. The Beatles were a massive movement on there own so I'm wondering if a future game could chronicle genres. A game that explored the roots of Blues music with its history and how a bunch of guys just played it faster and called it rock'n'roll. A game about grunge music from The Melvins and Pixies to that Unplugged thing Nirvana did and everything inbetween... to make up for the whole Guitar Hero thing.
  5. I keep meaning to buy one of the Katamari games because it is something I feel I should play, I played the demos of the 360 one and this one. They seem like fun but its the sort of thing I might get during the summer lull. Good to know if you haven't played any of the others then you can be ignorant of its faults.

    Halo 3 : ODST

I'm really enjoying it so far, I'm doing it on Heroic so some sudden deaths have been frequant but only because you start doing stupid shit. The Rookie bits are nice and quiet and ripping off Bioshock/Metroid Prime is paying off pretty well, first Halo with atmosphere. Fact. I'm unsure about all this 'it should of been DLC talk'. There are some massive enviroments and all the other added shit makes me wonder it might be a good retail game, its pretty different for something that still has Halo 3 in the title anyway.
  7. I think this whole Sugababes thing is amazing thing, it's like a legacy. As generations of young ladies come in and leave the ideal that the Sugababes represent still goes on without the worry of the mortal coil as long as young ladies are willing so sing, dance, wear little pants and arrange themselves like a neopolitan icecream.
  8. Back to pirating then, Ben? I've bought the a bit from iTunes since I was given a £50 voucher once, worked like a treat. I also would rather have a disc but sometimes they can be hard to get hold of. I've been listening to loads of stuff since I last posted in here but I can't be bothered to go through it all, last thing was that new Muse album, I enjoyed Showbiz and Black Holes and Revalations, I really enjoyed Origins of Symmetry and Absolution but now I think we need to part ways. There's nothing I can really put my finger on why I don't like it, I just don't have much inclination to listen to it again. I know they're far from the most difficult band in the world but maybe it all seems a little too... I don't wanna say 'mainstream' because it isn't what I mean, maybe just dull.
  9. I just heard the piracy bit. I don't usually comment much on this subject because I have a really old fashioned view on it. I honestly don't pirate anything, I buy all my music and films, 90% of the time in a physical form. I honestly don't understand why developers have to convince people to pay for a product like Burnout did, its great when they do support a game but surely what is on the disc is enough and not some promise of more stuff. I just think its a shame its come to that. I do except that it goes on and I understand the positives but when it comes to music a few bands do have bits of music that are free to listen too and you have things like Spotify if you want to sample something, I don't know how robust the selection is on that service but there are legal means are there.
  10. Well done boys, better late than never. I'll just say I'm not a cunt who finds happiness in other peoples misery, what I should of said regarding Let's Catch is through playing there is a closure to the characters problems and thats where the 'niceness' comes from, well I think.
  11. I didn't know how to do a full edit, can a user like myself do that because I can only see the quick edit? EDIT: Doesn't matter, I found the full edit.
  12. TwattyCuntFuckerFace.. .. Whats the thread about?
  13. Is current gen okay? Seemed a bit of a grey area. Aaaaanyhows. Been playing all week when I can and it is a game that holds up brillianly, it drags you in like Mass Effect and plays like a brilliantly put together action game, well, its no Gears of War but its still fun then the lazers fly.... I go into how much I love this game alot and I'm sick of it, basically I heart this game with more heart than a game deserves. was there any other takers? Anyone picking it up during a slow period? It is good ya' know.
  14. Bump for the craic. The other day Birch and Jaffe got all snuggly and had a chat and the rest of us can listen via a podcast. You can hear it here, it does feature that gaming cliche 'are games art' mostly. Some points come up that I've never heard before and I thought it was interesting atleast, and Jaffe makes a point which is very similar to my first post so great minds thinking alike and all that. For anyone who don't want to hear it there was one thing Jaffe said which I never thought of before, he brings up the scene in Half-Life 2 that does make you question how engrossing games can be, its the scene where you are in that lab and Alex and that bald guy are having a conversation before the tamed headcrab gets loose. Jaffe said on that bit during the conversation he has walking around and trying to break the game, messing around with things. It made be realise that maybe there are people - even those that are into games, designers in fact - that can't suspend their disbelief enough to get into the character they are playing, I know I did the same too. During the same bit I was just listening to the conversation and looking at who was talking until I noticed the magnifying glass actually works, then I was moving around to see if it did work properly, this, the actions of the renowned scientist, Gordon Freeman. While this monkey business works well and is encouraged in sandbox games and it did make me think about how much a serious game about human emotions could work without being painfully linear, almost movie like. I think it'll all be on how Heavy Rain turns out. Old videos are broken in previous posts so I'll put them up again for the whole story. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkiWh-7hUjk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkiWh-7hUjk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkiWh-7hUjk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  15. Been playing Sonic 3 & Knuckles a little, I'm stuck on that boss, the one thats a robot eye and it has spinny balls. I never had trouble on it as a kid but I just keep dying now, stupid fucking game. Most of my gaming time has been on the Metroid Prime Trilogy, I must be half-way through the first game and despite the fact I have been the other Metroid games quite recently but I'm still finding new little things. On the most part the new controls are fantastic, the only issue I have is the way you have to switch visors/beams by holdig the plus/minus buttons and pointing at the tiles that pop up. It's fine doing it in normal situations but mid combat it gets a little fiddley. Its still fucking awesome though. EDIT: I did also finish GTA4:TLaD, I liked the ending, it perfectly fits this new GTA ethos.
  16. Motorstorm 2 is the best racer this gen me thinks. LittleBigPlanet is loads of fun, might go back to that and see how the user created stuff is coming on. Thats only two but there are plenty of honourable mentions, Wipeout HD, Flower, Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles and loads of boys and girls like that Metal Gear 4 thing.
  17. I saw the co-op thing earlier today, I didn't notice before but colourful games did disappear with the Dreamcast if you think about it. And if Sega did come back with a console why would it be called the Dreamcast 2? Thats not the Sega style (they did it with revised SKU's but not new consoles). And also I thought them talking about Shenmue would make me see that I was missing something about it but the appeal of it is still lost on me. Uninteresting characters going through a uninteresting plot doing uninteresting things (fork lift truck racing excluded) and getting in some admittedly fun fights.
  18. I haven't been playing it like that, I've been going to gardens as I've unlocked then and I think they turn into twats later on, say 5 or 6 onwards, you can't just throw yourself around and the levels become more narrow. Less fun all in all.

    Epic Mickey

It looks truly amazing, it does look dark for Disney but maybe if they market the game correctly then the younger market won't be totally aware of it those older can enjoy the Disney characters in a more mature setting. Thats the bullshit I'd spin if I was Spector.
  20. I struggled with the weapon system, its too fucking brutal that game anyway, I say you quit while you're ahead and try FFIV instead, that has the dedicated classes for each character. Better story too, I don't think FFIII even has one.
  21. Yeah, its pretty unfair making you do something that is done on a drum machine.
  22. While most of you are enjoying that Beatles one some of us had to make do with some Freezepop songs instead, its okay though, they are rather good. I think I only managed to scrape through Less Talk More Rokk on GH2 a couple of times, if I'm gonna do it on RB then I need to brush up on my hammer-ons even more. Science Genius Girl is a cunt on the drums, check out the vid 35 seconds in, that gave me a shock. I bet Ringo did nowt like that too. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  23. You miserable bastard, how can you not love this game? if it is a dad in a night club then it is a dad who I think is genuinly cool, the soundtrack is a bit hit and miss I guess but it all ties with the game nicely. Navigating is a bit of an arse but there is enough moves to make the journeys interesting, doing moves is simple but getting to some of those hard to reach places really isn't. I wish I could go through Jet Set Radio Future again, either of them really, I miss them.
