  2. This is how the story goes (for those that are bothered anyway) Its only a pre-beta kinda of release. Basically its the 2nd pre-release, not counting the R4 fixed one, it had some weird nasty crackle. Tbh Gorgill never wanted to release the first version yet. He posted that you-tube vid and the whole 'homebrew' scene was... WTF Gimme Now!! MUST HAVE! TiZ LEET etc! Ya know how it is  So the first release he was kinda of badgered into posting to shut people up (poor soul) I'd of just ignored them. The first release didn't have file browsing and the effect weren't syncing properly, and he said the sample size limit was cap at around 1mb (due to loadind into the DS's RAM) This wasn't quite true. I managed to push it quite a bit, by mistake at first. The first sample I made in reason was 1.6mb I tried it and it worked fine I ended getting in contacted with gorgill and speak to him every now and then, he poke's me with ideas/suggestions. Then didn't hear anything from him for a while. Then outta the blue I get a email just saying "check this " He'd emailed the new build (current) I went to all the normal places IRC too, no-one seen to know anything his site wasn't updated or anything?!?! Was I about the only one who had this new homebrew :woohoo: In a silly way I kinda felt honored, usually gbatemp/ds-scene are all over the release and know about stuff before everyone else Now I'm in better contact with him and we chat from time to time about things that can be added or made better, where he think/wants the homebrew to go. He's got some great ideas, and possibly the coding talent to carry it off too (lol hero worship, nahh its just good homebrew for a change:whistle:) @mynameis/sambob. Yeah mp3 could well come into the mix, but it brings a whole host of problems with it. Mp3's may be easier because we've all got them at hand, but mp3's are by far a lesser quality sound file than a wav. Do you release the average mp3 encoded at 128 to 192 (depending on the source) you actually only hear between 20%-50% of the true frequencies, due to masking and data-compression. I know its kinda being picky but I'm sure you understand? Mp3 can be converted to .wav easily and without any loss of perceived quality I think it 'might' get added, there's a list of great things, like small sequencer more midi controlling stuff to control external sound-boxes/synths its already works with digital decks also works well a Dj software called Vjing or something I don't use it) Its also possible to add 3in1/extra RAM pack support for more function. I really do think this homebrew as a future as a damn nice bit of programming. tbh most of the homebrew scene is a bit meh, I've not gotten excited over anything apart from when some of us first went sailing I'd love any feedback good or bad. I kinda trust u guys, your opinions are mostly sound and safe, and generally on the money Again sorry for the wall of txt (spektor anyone?) I'm trying to get as much info posted, before I get kicked off again Cheer's !

Yeah what you said about humans in Half-Life 2 was spot on. Very good for their time, and not dating to shabby either [going slightly off topic] I first saw COD4 properly on steam when they released that trailer. I've only played the Demo of COD4, a few days later at a friends house! Like TGK I too was blown away! It really surprised me. I didn't expect it to run as well as it did with a lot of the candy turned on/up on mid/low end computer. I've also played and the DS version(briefly)have any of you played it? [going a bit further off topic] Like Hendo and quite a few other people it seems, I also wasn't gripped by PaperMario. Nowhere as near as I was with Thousand year door. It's not a bad game just 'hype' may of striked again, i've just not been in the mood to pick it up and play. [oh dear further down the path off-topicness] TGK, Is Umbrella chronicles really quite good, worth a splash of da cash? Would you recommend getting the Wii-zapper or any other Gun attachment? (if you've got one) [Pulling it back home] Do many/any of you guys play HL death match or CSS or Team fortress? Sorry for the off topic/reply and general random'ness, I just checked email before head out (still haven't full woke up) and wanted to reply before my net dies again :S
  4. And that you tube vid is an old one need to get a new again made, the sound quailty has improve a lot. plus a quick GUI update. Gorgill the coder is a top bloke! He's got lots of stuff he still wants to add, the midi functions will hopefully get even better. oh if any of you are familiar with the Reason prgram (music/synth/sequencer and more) You can make a quick loop and drop it straight in If you should be running R4 kernal v1.11 or 1.12 which has AUTO-DLDI patching So there's pretty much nothing you need patch Always read the readme about installation as something certain files/folders have to be in the Root directory.

Its not just portals it the whole 'Source' engine! Its a fantastic games engine. It runs on any bag of shite PC and will run on the best PC's and still look good. If you've got a half decent PC you must try the FakeFactory models and the Hi-res texture packs for the source engine. Alex looks even hotter  (did I just type that lol) I don't mean to sound all fanboy'ish but the source engine has so much more life in it. It runs great on just about any machine, the physics are great, the environment is fun to play with. The gravity gun! do I need say more than gravity gun+razor= Gibs! Much fun! How ace would it be to have the portal gun and the gravity gun :woohoo: lucky for I didn't get much hype myself as I didn't expect I'd get to play it. I finished Half-life 2 on xbox then again on PC ages ago. I heard about the portal development on GamerTV and then didn't really look into till a friend said come round and play it On his sexy beast of a rig well one that you don't have to be Uber rich to own..
  6. Cheer's for the info guys I've still got a few things that really bug me about GH3, I'll still end up getting it when my connection sorted (don't get me started on that lol) Again we Wii owners are getting the short end of the stick. We get "more" of a shell than the 360/ps3 ! I've heard people moaning about taking it in and out all the time, but thats but what bothers me, its the fact we pay nearly as much as the other console for a "lesser controller" it has less parts. I believe its not Neversofts fault (Neversoft? or whoever they out sourced the hardware side too, but its something to so with Nintendo not giving a full license for 3rd party remotes. I hope the Mono thing doesn't bother me, I presuming that it still come out of multiple speakers??

I'm still in love with Portals no matter how short it is. I must of played through it 5 times, has anyone played it with the cometary on? Its quite interesting, I like how they modded the physics engine in a bubble around the portal, very clever Has anyone found the easter egg yet? The login details? watch this flash animation if you like HL, its cheesy funny! LINKY

I thought it was pretty neat idea, you can catch mario if he falls off and hold baddies for him to jump on. There are definitely some areas you can't get too without a 2nd player... Check this http://uk.wii.com/software/interviews/mari...vol2/page5.html quite funny/interesting reading...
  9. If you didn't know already the new R4 Kernal is out http://www.r4ds.com/soft/18-en.htm I stopped posting homebrew updates as i didn't think anyone was that bothered. but.... This is one wicked Music homebrew http://www.r4ds-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=276 Watch the you-tube vid (of the old build) you'll get the idea! I'm working with the dev to add more functions and sample packs Its loads of fun, the new build (071111) Its a great improvement, the live stream from the mic is funny ! Let me know what you think please.
  10. I just skipped through this thread... (incase of spoilers) I've decided not to get Galaxy till I've finished some games, I still haven't done MP3 I've just not had the time to sit and play lately (though I nearly took warioware into swap this morning) Glad to read you guys are loving the Mario action. That makes me more positive that this is possibly the best Mario game yet! Whats the co-op mode like, I watched the interview vids on ninty's site and it seem to be fun, or very good for beginners, you can help them, I also like the fact that they've added placed you can't get too without having to people playing. I love secret bits Can you re-visit levels/galaxies after you've finished them?

    Mario Party DS

Nintendo really messed this one up no WFC was a big mistake! Its crap playing on your own, no fun at all, you spend most of your time watching the comp players moving. Dull oh so very dull! Bad Ninty! go to bed without any supper. tut tut!
  12. TopGunKnacker wrote: I was a guitar Hero virgin till a few weeks back, I had only played it quickly in a shop when GH2 came out. A friend lent me his GH2 and I kicked my kiddo's Ps2 for a couple of weeks to try and blast through. I too am a guitar player, and I found it strange at first, I dunno whether it was because I was timing my strum's more by feeling than sight markers, or maybe because I'm used to the orginal versions of the song and not the covers (is it me or are the covers more ridged in timing, not like their original versions) A had a friend over for the weekend to try and blast through the game, he's never played it either and is also a guitar player, and he hated it, said the timings are off by a little bit, again I wasn't sure if its just because we're so used to the original songs and not the covers. [on topic] I wasn't that bothered about getting GH3 at first, till I heard the Wii has online multiplayer! Then my eye's lit up. A lot of my friends don't like music games so the only real multiplayer action I'd get is online. I was told via GBAtemp that the wii did have online co-op, but after reading this thread I'm worried that the Wii version sucks. Can you play online co-op or not? I'm guessing you can, but just not in career mode? Also WTF!!!! Wii version is in mono, why ? god why ? Thats just fucking stupid! please tell me its not! Are the tracks covers or by the original artist? I'm going to hold off getting GH3 till I get my net sorted (BT/council are messing me around) atm Im piggy backing on next door's wifi and the siganl is too week for DS/Wii I'm glad I check here before I went out and got it... Hope you guys are ok... cheer's
  13. stoobieuk wrote: I a got a new TV since my folks moved to a house and the guy left 2 HDTV flat plamsa?!?? (wtf?) It's not HD but its got upscaling and 100hz + pixel plus. My m8's gfx card thinks its HD (or EDTV maybe?) My question is I was thinking of getting a RGB lead, not the one with the greeb/red/blue jacks but one with a normal scart plug(i've seen both in the shop) The Tv has 4 scart sockets Ports 1+2 are RGB and CVBS and the other two are just CVBS. Is there a difference between the two types of RGB lead apart from the connection themselves? Are they basically the same thing? (the RGB signal from the normal scart plug is split in the TV) Is it also worth £20 ? I know some of you are in the RGB only camp. I'd like your insight in this please before I go and waste more money. Thx EDIT: sorry for the 'off topicness' Yeah MP3 is great! I've not played much further been to busy I'm sure I'll make up for it tonight.

Hendo wrote: It is the best weapon combo (apart from the super grav gun) to take down those zombies it was one of my fav bits of the game. I don't think the xbox had achievements like that? For more Portals fun have you tried the flash version? LINKY It's only 2D but it uses a lot of the same puzzle idea's. btw on the settings in portals it has a view depth on the portals, has anyone noticed any difference in the graphic's or the performance of your PC? My friend and I couldn't see much difference (mayeb bcoz the rooms are small?) I thought it might be something to do with how many mirror images you can see, when looking thru one portal on the floor with the other above you (so you keep looking thru it) Is this the best gaming pack released ever? It might well be. dangit i need a PC......
