Found it just ok overall unfortunately. It’s objectively a well made and good game but I just wasn’t keen. 6/10 19/06/21 - Bleed 2 (XSX) - Normal Only about a hour long but what a hour. Just none stop fun. Made for replaying too. Highly recommended. You probably already own it too, I had it through Gold. Give it a go. Kind of reminded me of Gunstar Heroes in a way too. 22/06/21 - Hollow Knight (PS5) - 1st & 2nd Endings
  2. Forza Horizon 5. Basically because nobody was really bothered about it, “just another Horizon” but after seeing it I’ve seen a lot of excitement about it now.

    Metroid: Dread

Shopto have got the special edition for anyone who still wants it. https://www.shopto.net/en/swme39-metroid-dread-special-edition-p1145366/
  4. Yea they feel as though they’ve got enough systems (especially Dante) to play through the entire game as just that one character nevermind all the swapping about. Don’t think I could do a second playthrough of this just because I hate using V that much.
  5. I enjoyed the first, good dialogue and writing but I was definitely bored by the end and it’s not even that long a game. Never fully understood the battle system thing too. More than willing to give this a go though. Definitely one of those games where the potential is there to make the sequel a top tier game IMO.
  6. I literally had no idea this was a thing. Sounds much more interesting than doing a manually rev. Does the game explain that at any point? Probably a bit late to be practicing that now but at least Nero will potentially be better to play as now. Thanks.
  7. Ah yea exceed - I don’t actually know what it does? I charge it up, he does one slightly more powerful attack then it need charging again? Doesn’t seem worth it? What am I missing? Talking of cut scenes, I did mean to mention they’ve all been fantastic too. I love Nico, and her entrances are something else. The story is surprisingly interesting too for what it is.
  8. Played this for a fair few hours last night. I’m not that hot on it unfortunately. Just for reference my favourites are DMC 3 and DmC. I actively don’t like playing as V. My brain just can’t cope with controlling him and 2 demons basically at the same time. I end up doing attacks I don’t want to do while moving V around or when I try to do the specific attacks with the demons they usually teleport near me then they’re no longer in range of the enemies. Thing is I’ve not actually died as him so it’s not that hard it’s just I don’t feel in control at all. Nero I also don’t like. His grapple thing is great but after that he feels very limited. Probably just because I don’t know how to effectively use the Devil Breakers but whatever the issue I just feel I’m resorting to the same basic moves with him. Boring but try as I might I just can’t figure out anything more interesting with him. Dante - by far and away the best character. Unlike Nero his options are almost too much. But he’s the only character I’m actually enjoying so far. Swapping between his 2 fighting weapons and swords on the fly is great fun and creates some amazing combos even a idiot like me can pull off. Just got the bike weapon and that’s brilliant too. Im basically keeping to the Sword stance as that part I can’t swap between while fighting or my brain goes mushy. Just change to Royale at odd times to parry certain enemies. I’ve been enjoying it a hell of a lot more since getting Dante. Shame I have to go back to V again now… My other complaint is the environments. They’re so boring, kind of ugly and it’s just reusing the exact same couple of designs throughout so far. Makes playing it a bit of a chore as it’s just so uninteresting to look at. A far cry from DmC which had some brilliantly varied and interesting areas. The bosses have easily been the highlight. The designs have been fantastic and they’ve all been fun to fight. Funnily enough the first was the hardest though. Had to retry him 4 times at least whereas all the others I beat first go. The first was probably the most exciting in a way too just because of how it destroyed the environment around you. Although others have been more interesting. A recent one I just did with a bit Knight was particularly fun where I was constantly parrying his sword with mine, felt awesome. So yea, very up and down but I’m mostly down on it truth me told. Let me use Dante more FFS.
  9. Put a bit more time in and starting to understand it a bit more. I’ve been going on expeditions and just collecting everything I see and done a few more missions. It’s started opening up more options in the Smithy and crafting areas too. All the question marks are showing actual materials now. Guess it’s one of those games which shows you that type of stuff after you’ve picked it up. Caught my first monster which I didn’t realise was a thing in these games. Haven’t got the materials to make my own traps yet though. Need to explore more. Found a couple of weapons I like, the twin blades and the long thin sword. Sticking with the sword for now just because it does more damage & I don’t understand the rage system with the blades. Still feels mashy though even though I tried it in training. There’s only 4-5 combos and it’s usually just as easy to revert to Y 4 times or RT 4 times. Works just as well in my experience so far. I’d appreciate it if it let me target specific parts on a enemy too. But then again can barely tell any difference when I do break something off a monster, doesn’t seem to stop their abilities or movement?

    Metroid: Dread

Nice one! I’ve just watched that gameplay demo they did on the treehouse. The longer I watched it I don’t mind the graphics so much now. I still think they could have done a much better job l, still just lacks any style at all but they’re ok. the actual gameplay looks great though & that’s the important thing. The EMMI’s seem to be locked into certain areas too thankfully and That’s fine with me. If it was more throughout the game it would have ruined it IMO. These games are about exploration so having something that can instant kill you while trying to do so would have been properly shit.
  11. Thanks I’ll go back and try what you’ve said to start with.
  12. Finally gave this a go. Only played a couple of hours. There’s lots I’m liking -all the OTT animations and camera cuts for daft stuff like having a meal and using the Smyth are brilliant. Im liking the environmental design and there’s been some really cool moments already. During the opening the scale of the T Rex looking monster fighting another was impressive. I’ve also had a fight with a big yellow thing which ate another monster before I got to it and then puked it back out while I was slashing its stomach. Love that type of stuff. But I’m not actually enjoying it at the moment. There’s just a very overwhelming amount of menus, icons and text boxes. I don’t really know what I’m actually doing or what anything means. Plus it feels a bit button mashy but I’m guessing that’s also because I don’t really understand anything at the minute and feel lost. To make it worse the recent mission ive been given is to find a camp and I have literally no idea where to even begin looking? Is there a good recommended video or article anyone know if I can use that’s good for beginners? Ive done a google and found a couple but they’ve been useless so far.

    Cyberpunk 2077

I remember when Brad at GB first played it and was saying it was genuinely next level shit. I remember that one in particular because that’s what got me so hyped to start with. Maybe development changed on it over the years at the same time though? They might have had some trial/proof of concept stuff which they couldn’t get to work in time for release but was partly there in the starting stage during the demo they gave to the press. Given that they basically hid the previous gen version until release I wouldn’t be surprised if the demo they gave to the press years ago wasn’t specially made with that stuff in place in a very controlled environment but when it came to doing it over a full game it was just too much for them. Plus “gamers” hyped it up just as much. CDPR were the darlings of the industry & nothing bad could be said against them & everything they did and showed was amazing. This was my most hyped game for a year or 2 but I’ve yet to play it now. Hoping by time the native PS5 and XSX version are out it’s been patched and updated to be much better then I’ll give it a go.

    Metroid: Dread

I’ve got it too now. I’ll be able to sell on for a profit no doubt when I’m done with it. Yes I’m scum. Blame Nintendo for never making enough stock of anything.

    Metroid: Dread

Even I’m tempted by that. Only £10 more than a digital PS5 game too. Bargain. Would really like that art book.
  17. It looks ugly as sin but I’m still interesting in this. I’ve only played 3 back on Playstation 2 and enjoyed what I played but never finished it & remember it feeling a bit too confusing. Think I’m more open to it these days. Especially now I have a attachment to some of the monsters thanks to Persona 5. Just wish it was coming to PS or Xbox as usual.
  18. Completed last night and got the Platinum since id done 90% of them just while playing. Bloody great game. Not got anything to add to my last post. 3 of the planets are shit but the rest are brilliant with the Blizer Prime and Fixer sections being standouts. If you’re a big Ratchet & Clank fan you’re in for a treat. 8/10 (probably a 10 if you love the series)
  19. 1. Forza Horizon 5 2. STALKER 2 3. Replaced 4. Somerville 5. Atomic Heart Honourable mention to Metroid Dread which Im excited & worried about it equal measure. & Eiyuden which just looks amazing. Conference - Microsoft easily. Agreed that Sony were missed too.

    Metroid: Dread

This I can get behind. Love a proper 2D Metroid. The graphical style is very ugly though IMO. It’s got no style at all and just looks bland and shit. I’m worried the robot thing is going to be constantly around being a annoying fucker like Mr X. Would make sense from the name and how they described it which would really put me off but I’ll remain hopeful for now. Not long.

    E3 2021

    ESA needed that money.
  23. Wow!!! Did that planet last night, holy shit that was impressive. More stuff like this and it’s going up a point or 2. But in a way these games making a big deal about swapping between 2 time zones or Dimensions in this case in the same level due to the Hard drive have just made me appreciate Titanfall 2 even more. They managed it on ancient hardware and you can swap at the touch of a button there not just at set points. They must have used witchcraft. Ive got to say as impressive as Prime was, 2 of the planets have been really disappointing so far though. Another game where they’re trying to shoehorn in open world elements. But they’re just so barren and utterly dull and boring. The proper platforming planets like Prime have been a million times better. I like the new upgrade they give you for traversing them but the actual exploration part is just shit and completely unnecessary. Edit - done the Fixer set piece. Fucking brilliant. Edit 2 - a few more hours in & it actually keeps getting better as I go. Lots of great moments, to name a few. All just so endearing and good. Combat is just getting more and more mental with effects flying everywhere too.

    E3 2021

I don’t understand all the hype around a Switch Pro. Surely we’re only a year or so away from needing a Switch 2. Seems a bit pointless to me. Wouldn’t they be better putting resources into that instead of a half step? As for E3 itself. Not counting Nintendo since I’m not really bothered about them unless they have Metroid Prime and/or a new F-Zero. This has got to be the worst ever. Apart from Microsoft they have all been terrible. For obvious reasons of course but maybe they shouldn’t have even bothered. There’s been at least 3 that definitely shouldn’t have done one - Koch, Gearbox (one of the worst things I’ve ever seen) and Capcom. Capcoms stuff while Ok, could easily have just been shown elsewhere.
