  1. I don’t remember seeing that anywhere? It was on loads of “overlooked” and “underrated” lists though. Regardless, agreed. It’s a fantastic game. I’ll always speak up for it whenever it’s mentioned. & I hate card based deck building. That’s how good it is.
  2. Exactly this. Wanted to give it a go just not enough to actually hit the buy button. Perfect.
  3. Super Last of Bros. I’m in.

    Elden Ring

Haha! I’m definitely going to stop myself this time. Helps I sold Elden Ring so the cost of entry is a lot higher. New enemy designs look fantastic, would love to fight them just a shame they’re not in a game I actually enjoy.

Not really anything for me. Monkey Ball could be fun but I’ve struggled with any since the first. Seems to be one of those games where the first one you ply is the best. One of a handful of games that made the GameCube controller make sense too. Doesn’t feel right without those angles to get a true direction. Penny’s breakaway only has my attention because of Sonic Mania otherwise it doesn’t look great at all in that trailer. Look forward to the reviews on that one. Pepper Grinder is by far the best game here but already knew about that for a long time. Everything else was sleep inducing. Almost got excited about the Rare Collection coming to Switch (where it’s fit perfectly) but instead just got the odd VC type games. Damn shame. Absolutely. Just don’t make it look shit on a 4K OLED and so more modern games can run without turning into a slideshow & we’re good. Same. With the current dev times, costs & trying to penny pinch in every big game it’s making me wish consoles from now on would just run PS4 scale games but at better and consistent frame rates - 60-120fps. Fuck making them look any better anymore. Said this a few times but games don’t need to look any better. Waiting 5+ years for big games (plus the dev time and cost) is just ridiculous. I know that’s not realistic. It’d never happen. & even though I’m saying that I’d still be gutted if games never looked better but it’s better than how things are now. Remember when we got full trilogies plus spin offs to our favourite games (including new IPs) back in 360 days? That was the peak!

    Helldivers 2

I’m almost tempted to buy it just to clog up the servers more for Andy.
  7. Starting to get repeats quite often on GP now. Still, looking forward to giving Boltgun a go.
  8. I used to be really really stubborn. I’d only play games on normal or above and would refuse for drop the difficulty no matter how hard I was finding it. Even preferring to just stop playing altogether rather than drop it down. Nowadays I don’t care. I’ll start it on normal but if I’m finding it too hard or it’s a type of game where the challenge isn’t the draw of the game I’ll drop the difficulty. Take Persona 5, I wasn’t playing that to fail and redo battles or dungeons. That wasn’t fun at all and the experience of that game is the story side so I dropped it to easy. If the challenge is part of the game though I will not drop it still. Some games do benefit from not having a difficulty too IMO. Take Sekiro, I’d have no doubt caved and dropped the difficulty of that if it had one but it didn’t so o stuck at it and I do believe it would have hurt the overall experience if it did have an easy mode. Some games can be so easy they become boring to play as well - I’m including most recent Nintendo games here. Mario Odyssey and Wonder in particular. The final challenge levels are amazing. Everything before them is just so breezy it becomes dull IMO. Also I agree with @Maf, games like Devil May Cry are absolutely harder than Dark Souls. Dark Souls difficultly comes from having no patience rather than skill challenge. Making you walk the same 10 minute slog before a boss battle after every attempt is a patience check not a skill check.

https://www.eurogamer.net/nintendo-switch-2-release-date-now-q1-2025-report Switch 2 not likely until early next year. Think that allows me to buy a Steam Deck this year now.

    Helldivers 2

The explosions look incredible! Lots of good hype and Starship Troopers is one of my favourite films of all time. But im just not a MP gamer at all anymore so would be wasted on me.
  11. Yea it’s shit how other devs/publishers barely accept that feature. Definitely. Like I say, that’s an ideal outcome. It’ll never happen unless all companies are forced to do it though. So again, it’ll never happen.
  12. That would be the ideal outcome. Buy the game once and it’s everywhere so you can play where you want. With a saves etc. going across all kind of like how the Xbox system works currently.
  13. This stuff I can’t agree with more strongly. It’s one of the reasons I switched to Xbox around the One X time of last gen. They seemed to be making a real effort with BC and saying how you’ll have your games going forward. And Phil has basically reinforced that when he says losing last gen was the worst because that’s when people built up their permanent digital libraries - which to me says they’re going to keep your games going with you for as long as there is an Xbox so that’s where I started buying my games. Remember this was when Sony were very ‘we believe in generations’ and seemed like they weren’t doing BC at all - I still don’t think they would have if MS hadn’t pushed it so hard. The fact people are even considering the fact Nintendo may not have BC on Switch 2 is fucking laughable. Times have changed and if they don’t bring your previous Switch library forward they should fail as a company. That would be fucking disgusting. I don’t think it would actually hurt them because people are too willing to bend over for companies these days but it would be such a punch to the face and so anti consumer that it should sink them. Its not like before either, the changes between gens is getting so much smaller and we’re reaching a limit of what’s possible it’s not like games from 15+ years ago feel and look almost unplayable anymore. They’re still like modern games. I wish I could change to PC for more security with this stuff but I just don’t like using them. Bad PC ports seems to be a common issue again over the last 2-3 years too.
  14. They’ve definitely moved a lot faster than this on other things. Even the huge Xbox One backtrack was much faster than this and that was a much bigger deal.
  15. Also, PlayStation only owners. Please buy Hi Fi Rush. It’s fucking excellent. Best Xbox exclusive for years.
  16. Don’t get me wrong it’s good they’re still focusing on exclusives as well, but wow. Why let the message run away with you so much & cause so much damage when you could have nipped this in bud immediately with a PR statement.
  17. Wow that’s even more of a damp squib than I even expected! Why the fuck did they leave it that long and not just do a press release? 2 smaller games, all over a year old It would have stopped so much bullshit and word of mouth harm to Xbox. 4 games which theyre not naming. If you’re still not naming them why wait so long? Others may come in future. Starfield and Indy still exclusive. It genuinely sounds like games which won’t matter going multiplatform - either MP games which shouldn’t be exclusive anyway or smaller indie type games. What a load of nothing. Good to see Activision games coming to GP finally mentioned. Diablo 4 at the end of March starting it off.
  18. This is going to end up being a damp squib after all these rumours isn’t it? Just Sea of Thieves, Pentiment and Hi Fi Rush. Basically nothing that matters. With decisions for other games taken in future on case by case basis. Hope so anyway.
  19. Nicely done. I’m still on chapter 8. Just got Kiryu’s special ability. Enjoying doing the reminisce stuff even though I know or can only remember a quarter of them.
  20. Mario RPG Remake It looks fantastic. But oh my God it is boring as fuck. Ive reached about 8-10 hours in and it just hasn’t done anything particular interesting or even entertaining. For context I never played the original version. Maybe if I’d have played it back then there’d be something here. But I’ve gone back to other JRPGs from this era and still really enjoyed them. I love Paper Mario TTYD. This has none of that special sauce even in skeletal form.
  21. I’m with you Maf. Ragnarok is meh. Returnal isnt that great either though so get fucked I guess. I think Sony are going to have a really slow 2-3 years. They basically went hard on live service and now that ship has sailed they are going to pivot back to what they were doing before but now they’ve got a couple of years of dev time missing due to the service games fuck up. But as Nag says they do a good job of making a few 3rd party games feel like 1st party such as FFVII RR. So I think they’ll be fine. I’ve also seen that mentioned about the PS5 winding down. WTF?!?! This gen has barely started. 2 years of the PS5 were fucked too as no one could get hold of them. That quote better be taken way out of context. Although I still think these consoles are really underpowered considering how many concessions need to be made for modern games to run on them. Can’t even get cross gen games running at 60fps without big drops in resolution most of the time. So a Pro would actually be something I’d be interested in.
  22. It’s slimmer pickings than I thought. A lot of very similar shooting gallery type games too. Wish I’d done more research before agreeing just because it was a good price… ah well. Anyway picked up Rez as the PS5/VR2 version was £9 and I love that game. Got my eye on Synapse, thanks @one-armed dwarf. That’s got a shit load of positive buzz around it. Same with Saints & Sinners. Horizon has a demo, not really bothered about it but meant to be a graphical showpiece on it so I’ll give it a try but no way am I paying £60 for it though even if I do enjoy it. Car Mechanic Simulator Vr looks like something I’d love because I’m a saddo so want to try that. Haven’t seen any reviews yet though. Had another stark reminder why Digital games suck today though. GT7 is by far the game I want to play most on it. Went to buy on PS Store, £70!!! It’s almost 2 years old you robbing cunts. Anyway managed to find a brand new physical copy for £43 so that’s on its way now.

    Persona 5

Think it has an extra party member as well as extra story. Yea I remember feeling the same during the early hours. It will all click into place though, don’t worry. & remember you don’t have to do everything.
  24. I may have managed to nab one of these quite cheap! Anyone got some string recommendations? I’m thinking GT7, RE4 & possibly Village. Rez Infinite? Now that I’m writing them out they’re all games I’ve already played normally…. Anyway, what else? I really want to play Best Sabre too, but ultimately think this is going to be a stop gap before selling and eventually getting a Quest 3 - the variety & breadth of games is so much higher on that. Plus no console required. So may wait until then for Beat Sabre. Edit - wow the ps store is terrible at surfacing what is compatible with the VR2. You filter for that & it only shows 18 games. Even games which have been updated to work like Moss Book 2 doesn’t mention VR2 compatibility anywhere. Have to rely on external websites.
