  1. If it reviews badly enough I might pick it up ?
  2. Haha yeah @one-armed dwarf that scene was amazing. Loved seeing Auron get fired up!
  3. No not played it @shinymcshine, I wanted to as it was free with XBL Gold at some point but I never got round to it.
  4. Looks like there’s some kind of announcement coming June 10th.
  5. Put another 6 hours into this since my last post. Now 52 hours total. Finally made it to Zanarkand! What a magical moment it was descending down into the ruins from Mount Gagazet and then having the opening cutscene play out. Just such a great moment to know you’ve come full circle and now know the full circumstances and context behind that opening cutscene. Zanarkand was definitely more interesting than Mount Gagazet, it looked beautiful with all the spectral bits of light floating through the air amongst the ruins of a once great city. Seeing little bits and pieces I recognised from the opening was really cool as well. This whole area was filled with pretty tough monsters that took awhile to put down but I didn’t have too many issues or had to bail out of any fights. I made my way through the ruins and what looked like an old Blitzball Arena or something and then arrived at the Temple containing the last Cloister of Trials. Initially it took me a little while to get my head around what the game wanted me to do to solve the puzzles, but once I realised that I was essentially replicating the picture shown on the screen with the lit tiles on the floor it was relatively easy to solve. They did get progressively harder but once I got the knack of it I managed to crack them in no time. Really enjoyed this little interlude, I think I’ve loved all the puzzles in the game so far thinking about it, they never outstay their welcome and are infrequent enough to be a nice distraction from the norm when they do occur. I had considerably more trouble with the boss that succeeded this Cloister of Trials though. It was another puzzle fight, this one having you move characters around a spectral game board to avoid his frontal attacks. Time after time I tried and every time he managed to completely wipe out my party without me doing much damage on him, it didn’t help he could inflict Berserk on you at the drop of a hat which meant you’d be stuck in 1 position on the board and incredibly vulnerable to his attacks. Over time I learnt to value my position on the board over attacking him, leaving 1 party member in front of him while the others attack from behind and eventually managed it but this was definitely one of the toughest bosses so far for me. Lots of story revelations next with so another boss fight ensues. This one was much more straightforward than the last, I did a little bit of grinding beforehand just to get my Aeons into Overdrive just in case but I managed it on my first try. The only thing I wasn’t expecting was her 3rd phase really, after the 2nd phase (which had 40,000 health) I thought I had finished her off only to have another 60,000 health phase to go. It took awhile whittling her down, avoiding her insta-death attack and reviving allies when I couldn’t avoid it but I managed it after awhile. More story relevelations continues where you find out Auron Almost immediately after the airship picked me up. I knew this would enable me to then travel around the map, so I set about going back to previous areas to pick up the Jecht Spheres and Al Bhed Primers I’d missed out on. I immediately stumbled into a roadblock on Besaid in Dark Valefor though ?, had a quick look online and attempted to perform Zanmato with Yojimbo (despite him never previously doing that move for me) and would you believe it, he did it first time! Dark Valefor and his 800,000 health poor were defeated, I honestly couldn’t believe it. Went exploring a few other spots on the map picking up a few more primers and spheres and left it there for the day.
  6. Yeah I definitely think anything is possible pretty much this time around. Microsoft know one of the big reasons they lost last gen is they delivered an overpriced, underpowered console that was burdened with a Kinect camera not many folks wanted. This time round they’re shipping a Powerful console, not burdened by any peripherals etc. And have Game Pass as a ace in the hole. They also have the support of the MS Board as you say which they didn’t have last time around. From a little bit of research it seems the BOM (bill of materials) for XSX is $500 and PS5 $460. So they might both come in at $499. Source 1 Source 2 But I still think both are going to eat some of that cost themselves, it’ll be interested to see how it shakes out. I will say I don’t think Sony can afford to come in more expensive than XSX, so we might well have a price match scenario on our hands.
  7. That was without VAT, I edited my post to adjust the prices to include VAT. The way I worked it out was $399 = £324.52 (rounded up to £330) + VAT is ultimately the price I think we’ll get (£390.52) but then that’ll get rounded up to £399. The PS4 launched for £350/$399 but then $/£ conversion was better back then. Whilst I think it’s definitely possible for Microsoft to do that, I don’t think they’ll be willing to dig that deep into the pockets to get to $399, just getting to $499 will require them to sell at quite a large loss I’d imagine so I feel $399 would be a bridge too far. But yeah, price will be critical.
  8. I think unless Microsoft sell SX at a massive loss it’ll be more expensive, I do think they will have to sell at some kind of loss to stay competitive though, I don’t think it’ll be more than $499/£499 as a result. The PS5 who know, there was that Wall Street Journal/Bloomberg article that said the cost of manufacture was $460 or something like that, but I expect Sony to take a loss up front as well to maintain a price advantage over the SX, it’s something they can now do as the company overall is in much better shape compared to 2013. So SX: £499/$499 incl. VAT PS5: £399/$399 Incl. VAT I expect both to throw in x months of Game Pass/PS Now too.

    Random News II

Could’ve sworn there was a Dead by Daylight thread but I can’t find it so here:
  13. The latter, unrelated to the Dorito Pope I believe.
  14. Saw this for a good price so thought I’d give it a go, liked one of their Sherlock Holmes games.
  15. In that circumstance I’d dispatch those enemies with that exact party. Then for the next encounter I’d swap them out a bit here and there. I get where you’re coming from but it’s a complete non issue for me. I actually find it really fun that you can swap party members out without penalty at any point and experiment. I’m glad they didn’t change it for the remaster haha.
  16. Difficult to compare it to the OG game as I played that for so little time (think I only reached Kilika) but for me it definitely holds up. I actually think the pacing is very similar to FF7R in lots of ways, the linearity and then opening up occasionally into these little open world areas is similar too. The graphics definitely hold up, at first you’re a bit like ‘eurgh’ but the colours still pop really nicely - in the 2D backdrops in particular - overall. For me, it’s not dissimilar to the graphical quality of like XC2, they both look pretty similar. The music, combat, sphere grid and characters still hold up, the latter are impacted by the ‘of age’ voice acting but not significantly so for me. Has never been an issue for me @OCH, it’s so easy to swap them out (doesn’t even skip your turn) that there’s no downside to it for me.
