This is interesting for two reasons. Firstly I think it looks really nice, and I don't just mean the spectacular visuals. Seems like an enjoyable little action game with a very charmingly presented protagonist. From what I recall people find Aloy a bit bland in the main games (can't comment on that as I haven't played them) but her little sassy quips here make her rather likeable. Overall this looks very confidently put together and the hoppy running animations are s-tier.

Secondly it's coming to Switch, which is kind of a big deal no matter how you spin it. I expect the reasoning behind it is to get some of those millions of kids on Switch interested in picking up a PS5 to play the main games, but it still feels like something Sony would never have done even a couple of years ago. I saw some people online suggesting it was forced by LEGO, but I doubt Sony was that desperate to get this made and would have just pivoted to another visual style instead in that case.

In any case, if it turns out well on Switch I'm going to pick it up.

One thing that's really cool is they have the main voice actor back for Aloy. She's so dour and one-note in the main games, it must be fun to be really silly this time

Never really clicked with the Lego games they always look nice but after I played Lego star wars, I was don't, especially as the subsequent Lego star wars titles all felt rinse repeat.

might be the type of thing I give a chance once heavily reduced.

Some Switch gameplay:

Looks really nice and clean. In a way it's funny that Sony puts more effort into their Switch games than The Pokémon Company, but on the other hand this is obviously also a bit of cross-marketing/publicity for this IP, so they couldn't just half-arse it. Still a welcome end result.
